Great device! I returned this but only because I decided I wanted to download games to my handheld. Going with an Xbox Rog Ally X.

These were very hard to find in stock so I was very elated to finally get one. Out of the box the device looks and feels very sleek. It’s probably the most comfortable handheld gaming device I’ve ever held. If you like the the PS5 controller you’ll feel right at home. The screen is the perfect size and looks very vibrant. Be mindful of where you sit because it picks up alot of glare from lighting or the sun which makes it hard to see. The sound is very ample and there is a 3.5mm headphone jack. The one thing I noticed was when I first started playing a game, it seemed the there was some latency. I have very fast internet at home, but for some reason the games weren’t running as well as I thought they should. So I went online and saw that there was a tip of unplugging the hdmi cable from your PS5 when playing the PS Portal. Make sure to unplug it before you turn on the ps5 from the portal. To my surprise it worked and the Portal was running games great. The solution is kind of a nuisance, but did not ruin the experience. Overall, this is not the Playstation portable experience we’ve all been waiting for like a new PSVita, but if you own a PS5, I think this is a peripheral that while not essential, is very enjoyable, practical, and complimentary device for the system. For the price i’m very satisfied with it.

This device is great for when u don’t want to sit up in a chair. It is great for when you’re on the toilet, out and about, laying down; covered in your blankets. The black one just looks so clean and stealth. I highly recommend!

I've had the PS Portal for quite some time now and finally decided to share my thoughts on the device.
At first, I didn't think I'd be much of a fan of it. Probably used every now and then but it's quickly become more of a preferred way of gaming for me.
Comfort (5/5)
This thing feels great in the hand, just like many others have said, it feels like like a bigger PS5 controller which is great. Probably the best handheld for ergonomics to use compared to something like a Steam Deck or Legion Go. I have zero issues using this for hour plus play sessions.
Screen (4/5)
It's no OLED display but for a standard LCD screen it does the job. Screen size obviously being the main factor but it does get decently bright and I have no issues with it. My main use case scenario is indoors so I can't really comment on outside use.
Sound (3/5)
Not much to say here about the speakers but they're just decent as you'd expect. The lack of Bluetooth support though for other headphones outside of Sony's offering is definitely a bummer though.
Connectivity (4/5)
For this, I feel like YMMV but for me it works well. Using the Orbi WiFi 6E mesh router setup with symmetrical gigabit fiber internet, PS5 hardwired to the router and I get zero stutters or image quality reduction during play. I've tried it a few time on 5G LTE mobile hotspot and performance is a hit or miss depending on your reception. I wouldn't say it's ideal.
Enjoyment (5/5)
I would say the main use case scenario for this is being able to play PS5 content in any room of your house. I think it's a joy to be able to play while on the couch watching a sports game, in bed relaxing or sitting in the office kicking back. This is definitely the type of use it was intended for and it wins in this area.
Overall, if you like gaming in comfort at home then I'd say this is probably for you. Outside of that it might vary as I don't intend on taking this on the go.
If there is one drawback to this device then for me it's definitely the lack of Bluetooth support. I'd like to use my own earbuds as they most definitely sound better than the proprietary earbuds offered but the speakers do just fine for me.

I’ve been using it a lot. When my tv is busy beating watched by other family members I can play the massive library of games I have built on my pan account. A must have for any ps5 owner.

I have no complaints. My PlayStation Portal hasn’t given me any issues and Best Buy has the best customer service ever. I will definitely be back to shop for more merchandise.

This is great if you have good internet connection and if you have the high tier subscription you can play the games on the cloud which make it really worth having it you travel and you should also get the PlayStation charging station goes great with it

I love it, whether I’m connected via WiFi or my hotspot I can connect directly to my PlayStation 5 Pro and take advantage of any downtime where ever I may be.

Love the versatility of the Portal. I find myself playing my PS5 through it more often than I would just playing the PS5 normally. It’s perfect for my job too since I travel a lot. It comes with me wherever I go.

The PlayStation Portal is a gaming ecosystem that stands head and shoulders above its competitors, offering an unparalleled experience that sets it apart as the premier choice for gamers worldwide. As a dedicated PlayStation enthusiast, I've found the Portal to be not just a gaming console but a gateway to a world of entertainment and innovation that surpasses anything offered by its competitors.
First and foremost, the PlayStation Portal boasts a stellar lineup of exclusive games that are second to none. From blockbuster franchises like God of War, Uncharted, and The Last of Us to innovative new titles like Horizon Zero Dawn and Spider-Man, the Portal offers a diverse and compelling library that caters to every type of gamer. These exclusives are not just games; they are experiences that showcase the creativity and craftsmanship of the industry's top developers, setting the PlayStation apart as the platform of choice for gaming excellence.
The Portal's hardware is another area where it shines brightly. The PlayStation consoles are known for their cutting-edge technology, delivering breathtaking graphics, smooth performance, and innovative features that enhance the gaming experience. Whether it's the lightning-fast load times of the PlayStation 5's SSD or the immersive gameplay made possible by the DualSense controller's haptic feedback and adaptive triggers, the Portal's hardware is designed to push the boundaries of what's possible in gaming.
The PlayStation Network (PSN) is yet another reason why the Portal reigns supreme in the gaming world. PSN offers a robust online multiplayer experience, a vast digital storefront with a wide selection of games, and a range of entertainment options including movies, TV shows, and music. The seamless integration of these features with the gaming experience makes PSN a comprehensive platform that caters to all aspects of entertainment, further cementing the PlayStation Portal's position as the ultimate gaming ecosystem.
In comparison to its competitor, the Xbox, the PlayStation Portal stands out in several key areas. While both platforms offer strong gaming libraries, the PlayStation's exclusive titles are often cited as the defining factor that sets it apart. Additionally, the Portal's hardware innovations, such as the DualSense controller, offer a level of immersion and innovation that is unmatched by the Xbox. Furthermore, the PlayStation Network's seamless integration of gaming and entertainment content provides a more comprehensive experience than what is offered by Xbox Live.
In conclusion, the PlayStation Portal is the epitome of gaming excellence, offering a combination of exclusive games, cutting-edge hardware, and a comprehensive online ecosystem that makes it the superior choice for gamers. Whether you're a casual player or a hardcore enthusiast, the Portal provides an unmatched gaming experience that is truly deserving of its five-star rating.

Great addition to the PlayStation family as long as you have fast internet. As long as you keep your expectations real you will enjoy this product. It’s not revolutionary, but, it’s great for those times when you want to play and somone wants to watch TV. Main drawback is lack of audio choices since there’s no Bluetooth. Also I wish it could turn your PlayStation on and off. You have to keep your PlayStation 5 in rest mode to be able to start a remote session. There is very little lag as long as you have a strong WiFi signal and screen resolution is nice even though it’s not 4K.

Got the matte black version of this a few days ago.. Been wanting this for a while now and finally got it. I have to say im a little bit disappointed. Dont get me wrong, this thing is beautifully designed and the graphics on it looks pretty awesome. But what kills it is the lags.. i have a 300mbps internet connection (now it could be my wifi acting up), but even with just my PlayStation portsl connected, i was having some issues this morning. i.e. kept losing internet connection, also was lagging a lot. Even in single play games/game modes like fc24 and RDR2. I did, however play diably 4 online last night and it ran smoothly.. but then again theres that occasional lags.

I was on the fence about this one since you can’t play without WiFi and can only play whatever disc that is in the PS5. I’m old school and I like having the physical disc as opposed to buying digital cause you cant sell a digital game like you can the disc version. I opened the box and was blown away at how beautiful and how big the screen is. The controls fit perfectly in your hands unlike the switch. The battery life is really good. The graphics are amazing and I didn’t really see any lag while playing as llong as you have a good WiFi connection. The $200 price is not that bad for what you’re getting. I definitely recommend buying a case for it. The portal controls take over your PS5. I know video games are going towards all digital in the future so my physical games are gonna be obsolete some day so now that I have the Portal it has changed my mind and Im going to start buying digital games because this thing is so awesome. With all that being said I definitely recommend getting one, you wont be disappointed!
