Squeezing in some PS5 Pro-ing away from the living room is great for any middle-aged gamer. Instead of feeling like I occasionally hog the TV, couch, and living room just to notch another hour of 120 hour or so on FF7: Rebirth. Or play my backlog of great indie hits like Dredge or Disco Elysium, I can just remote play anywhere in my home—like in the kitchen with my coffee while the eggs and bacon are on the skillet, or at night in bed with Powerwash Simulator or Sea of Stars and tea to wind down.
Like many Sony fanboys and fan girls, I was pretty skeptical the device would work better than trying to stream PS4 games to your phone some years back (Backbone, anyone?). No it’s not the Vita 2, but as someone who’s only ever owned the Vita and Portable handhelds back in the day, there’s something far more intimate about PS5 Pro-ing on a device inches from your face instead of on a TV on the other side of a room. Yeah, no worries about somebody cutting back and forth in front of your game during pivotal cutscenes you’ve literally spent 100s of hours and the better part of the year reaching.
It’s laughable but last I heard, there’s still no Bluetooth support and no—Sony’s upsell with those expensive earbuds won’t get a nibble out of me. You also can’t watch YouTube on it or your other streaming apps. No web browser either. Its sole function seems to be making sure that Last of Us Part 1 and Sony’s other first-party titles like Spider-Man 2 run as smooth as possible on the Portal.
Portal isn’t for everyone, but if you’re someone who finds it harder and harder to put in gaming time as you get older, the device is totally worth owning. It feels very sturdy, but its awkward shape has caused me to drop it once or twice by the handle. If you decide to plunge into the Portalverse, do yourself a favor and buy a hard case for the handheld. I imagine accidentally sitting on a Portal is not quite the same as sitting on your phone.

It was hard to get, but I made it! This was a birthday present for my boyfriend. I got to pick it up before the day. It works perfectly fine as of now. We got a cover for it and a carry on bag. Quality of the screen is good. Just as advertised. He is very happy with his gift. (PS. its not scratched, it just has a cat hair LOL)

Honestly, at first, I didn’t have much use for the device because, let’s face it, if you are at the same place as your physical console you’ll just rather play on a bigger screen. However, I had to travel for work and, as you all can agree, it was impractical to travel light with good old ps5 in a carry on. That’s when I tapped into the full potential of the PS Portal. Imagine going through Elden ring withdrawal light years away from your console and then being able to access it (as long as you leave it in rest mode) from afar and, as long as the wifi is good, play seamlessly on your PS Portal. It became the metaphorical last coke on the planet and I enjoyed it as if I was playing on the actual big screen at home (yes, at nearly 60 fps). Give it a shot. I highly recommend it!!!

The portal is amazing device to use for remote play. Whenever the main TV is taken, I can connect to my PlayStation five easily and play complex games such as Elden rings without any lag. Also a perfect companion for when you were out and about or just want a quick break between work! I highly recommend it, it’s allows me to finish rpgs at my pace, whenever and wherever. The instruction to cloud gaming is also a huge benefit for people with PS+ premium.

First off, it’s beautiful! I recently bought a PS5…my first PlayStation since getting the original PS1 back in the day. The first game I got was Spider-man and OMG! This game was beautiful! Upgrading the storage was a breeze! I’ve been with Xbox for the longest and now PlayStation is bringing me to the dark side. I love the remote play. Since I bought my portal, there’s been about two huge upgrades that makes you want this to be your main form of play. This thing is awesome! The screen is beautiful and I love the controls!

We purchased the PlayStation Portal Remote Player, and both my husband and our 8-year-old absolutely love it. What impressed me most is how intuitive it is. Neither of them needed a learning curve. They picked it up and were playing within minutes.
The portability is the real game changer. It allows gaming to move off the main TV without sacrificing performance or comfort. The screen is bright and clear, and the controls feel just like a full DualSense controller, which makes the transition seamless.
For our family, it’s been the perfect balance of flexibility and quality. It gives them the freedom to play anywhere in the house while keeping the full PlayStation experience intact.
If you’re looking for a way to make your PS5 more accessible without compromising on gameplay, this has been a fantastic addition.
Five stars.

First time trying this device and its actually quite nice to being able to play the ps5 games in like a handheld mode. You just need good wifi signal and such to avoid blurriness!

Bought the Portal to actually be in the living room and the family while gaming. It's great to relax lying down on the couch. It works great for that function and I can play all my favorite PS5 games (Stellar Blade, Helldivers) seamlessly. The UI animation for connecting to the PS5 is super cool. Small thing but it adds to the premium feeling.
No connection issues, including with the Pulse Elite headset. There's stutters here and there but I hardly notice it. Input lag is minimal, and I can perform well in the above mentioned action games. This is definitely one of my best gaming purchases. At $200, it feels like a steal.

Love this purchase, I use it everyday. Works fantastic with the new update where I can stream games with just my ps plus subscription. If you are on the fence just get it.

Let’s talk about what this thing ISNT to clear confusion. It’s not a standalone game player, and it’s not even the type of device you take with you to play on the train, plane, or even on crappy hotel WiFi. If you want to buy for those reasons, you’ll be disappointed.
IF you’re a parent who doesn’t have the TV available in your home network, you want to play while laying in bed, or want to have quick sessions while holding a baby in one arm, then this is the device for you. With a strong local WiFi connection and a wired ps5, you’ll get excellent performance, true controller functionally, and a high fidelity screen. It’s worth it if you’re a member of a relatively slim target market.

I didn’t expect to love this thing as much as I did. It runs shockingly well and way better than I expected a streaming device to.
I’m genuinely impressed how well it works with any game I’ve played on it so far, from fps, RPGs and even MMOs (FFXIV).
There’s nothing more I can really say about it. It just works.
Just keep in mind, as with any and every streaming device, your experience and enjoyment with it will depend on your ISP. If you have a good internet provider and speed, your experience will reflect mine. If your internet isn’t quite up to the task, your experience will most likely not be as robust as mine is.

So at first when i bought this beauty it kept disconnecting and lagging. Time and a few patches later and it rocks! I looked up videos to optimize the peformance and by switching off HDR, and a few other tweaks it works well. Sometimes my orbi router needs a reboot to get this device rolling well, but it does. Its perfect for short gaming sessions for that gamer with a busy life. When it works its pretty awesome. Its just subject to internet bandwidth is low, during peak hours. Disconnects still happen but its nowhere near as bad as when it first launched.

surprisingly good battery life. screen is vibrant, and the lag time is minimal. i have the ps5 on wired connection, and the Portal on the 5Ghz home wifi, and COD Campaign was very playable.
