The PlayStation portal has been a great purchase, it allows my son to be anywhere in the house or on vacation as long as there’s WiFi

I love it. It gives me a chance to play games on the go (depending on the wifi) but it's a really good device. If you have the higher tier of Playstation Plus it will be beneficial for you as well

My love for the PlayStation Portal grows every time Sony does a new update! This thing is just plane cool. I use it at home and on the go. I think it works better streaming from PlayStation Plus than it does playing remotely from my PS 5 console, but the newest update has made that a lot smoother. The only downside is the required monthly subscription to PS Plus, but I was already paying that so why not have a portable option? I love my PlayStation Portal!

I was skeptical on the need for this since I’ve never used remote play. But with a little man who likes to play spiderman at all times I’m now able to have him use the portal while freeing up the living room tv. I hate that it lacks Bluetooth but overall I’ve had zero issues with connecting and using. I’ve even tried it on the WiFi where I worked and it played flawlessly. This wasn’t needed but I’m glad I got it.

The Portal is a great little device, even at home. Since mine arrived in early February, I’ve completed two long games because I can pick it up & play at any time. If I want to keep an eye on sports on the TV, I can still complete sidequests in big non-linear games. I can lay on the couch or in bed and play. If I go out of town for work, I can connect to hotel wifi and keep playing.
Now there are caveats, of course. There is an expected and understandable lag which means it’s not ideal for something like, say, online fighting games. If your wifi signal is weak or goes out, you’ll also experience stuttering or a disconnect, though thankfully you won’t necessarily lose game progress unless your PS5 loses power as well.
For me, I’ve found it invaluable in completing games like Yakuza that have loads of content, since I can play a little bit here and there without needing to be tethered to my big TV and AV setup. It’s never going to replace such a thing as the preferable way to play, but it makes a great companion.
It’s even fairly comfortable to hold for long periods, since it’s just a screen wedged between a DualSense controller. The additional weight is noticeable, but I’ve spent 5-6 hours playing at a time and never felt any serious discomfort a little 5 minute break couldn’t fix.

If you have decent wifi and play the online stuff or a weak game on your ps5, this thing is great. You play a game like Palworld and your controls stop working right, tons of latency issues. Hey its a fun cheap accessory that works at least half the time.

I was hesitate about whether I should get the Portal, but after using it for a few weeks now I can say that I enjoy using it. It does give me the opportunity to play a few more indie games as I don't have decent internet for the more intensive games. I am also finding the streaming function of games to be great when I'm having a tough time connecting to my system

PlayStation Portal is an awesome device if you are in the target demographic. I use this when the TV that my PS5 is hooked up to is being taken by my wife of child. You could use a dual sense and an iPad or pc, but to me it’s way better using the handheld. The one thing I dislike is the lack of headphone support for wireless headphones
