I returned the PlayStation Portal after just 24 hours. The product itself is excellent. The screen is gorgeous, and the ergonomics are fantastic. The fact that you can even stream games from your PS5 is great. However, the biggest letdown is the latency. I have a Wi-Fi 7 network and even with this, playing FPS games, such as Battlefield, is not possible due to the lag. If you want to play single-player games, the Portal is ideal; however, if COD and BF6 are your jam, sorry, but this will not work.

Having had this for a month. The device is great! Well built and makes you feel like you’re holding a ps5 controller in your hands. Screen is awesome!
Now why did I not give it a 5 stars:
- have a really solid home network and even turned QOS up for this device and still get laggy moments. I think it’s more ps5 being able to handle and support the data more than it is my WiFi.
- other minor item is games that use the center touch area of the ps5 controller. It’s hard to access and area is smaller than the controller so some actions are tough.
In all great device! Esp love can be gaming while “watching” an episode with the wife.

Beautiful screen. Uses bluetooth and wifi to set up. Router for Wi-Fi needs to be close by for best connection. If you have the premium plus. You can stream games to the controller with out using the actual PS5. This uses the old PS Now services for this. Its light weight and is gorgeous. Buttons are quite responsive.

This is a great product for a gaming family. I have the PS5 in the living room and my kids can’t always play when we are watching tv. Once I got this product it helped so much.

Great product and allows me to extend my PS5 gameplay beyond the room with the console. Definitely needs a good WiFi connection or wired connection to the console. Highly recommend the product!

I love this portable! I understand there are many options for portable gaming with PS5, but this one for me has been the best. The screen is a comfortable size for traveling, as well as gaming, and the controllers are very similar to ones with the home system. I did have to give it 4/5 due to the internet connection; My house has really strong connection, but even I have noticed choppy service here and there, which has affected my overall experience, Nevertheless, I think it’s a great portable system ad I can’t wait to see what Sony does to make it progress.

Only work to play video games no media netflix spotify youtube. I know it was a lot of confusion with this product but I tried this product work fine. yesterday sony update the portal and it’s working 100% stability. ( when I first got my portal it was a lot of problem connecting to my ps5 even in the same network close to the wifi I reset my wifi test everything and still having a lot problem connectig to my ps5 now with the new update only take around 25 seconds to conect to my ps5 the time on the console turn on. I hope they no lauch another update and mess up the stability base on my first experience I will give the product 3.5 stars but because they adressed the issue with the stability I will give this product 5 stars becuase they fix they main issue.

Let’s talk about what this thing ISNT to clear confusion. It’s not a standalone game player, and it’s not even the type of device you take with you to play on the train, plane, or even on crappy hotel WiFi. If you want to buy for those reasons, you’ll be disappointed.
IF you’re a parent who doesn’t have the TV available in your home network, you want to play while laying in bed, or want to have quick sessions while holding a baby in one arm, then this is the device for you. With a strong local WiFi connection and a wired ps5, you’ll get excellent performance, true controller functionally, and a high fidelity screen. It’s worth it if you’re a member of a relatively slim target market.

It’s ok, annoying that you have to have it wirelessly hooked up to a ps5 and it’s just a mirror image of whatever the ps5 is showing. Nice if you just don’t want to sit in front of your tv or use it in the car but you can’t use it if you forget to turn on your ps5 before you leave home and log into the linked account.

I fine but you need a good WiFi connection to play and it takes a while to connect and if you don’t have a strong connection the screen will freeze and then you have to reconnect it again

I wanted to like it, but just couldn't. I'm a Dad so the thought of this sounded awesome. However, I always felt like I was getting a way lesser experience playing a PS5 game on the Portal vs on my TV. The lag and latency was always terrible. So bad that when I was playing open world game, the background was so blurry I couldn't tell where I was going. Such as on Star Wars Outlaws. There was a significant delay between the controller and the actually gameplay as well. I wouldn't even bother trying to play COD or something similar. Ultimately, I ended up returning it within 14 days after a few attempts of playing a game. Just not the same experience. I live in town, have a 1gbps download speed with a mesh Wi-Fi system along with my PS5 connected via Ethernet to my router so I know it's not a connectivity issue. Also, I have a Switch OLED and the game literally played the same in handled as on the TV since it's not a "remote player" like the Portal. Maybe I had high expectations, but I would rather wait for a dedicated PlayStation handheld or just get a Switch 2 in my opinion.
