I bought the PlayStation Portal through the Best Buy app—it was quick and easy. The app guided me smoothly through checkout, and I had my device within minutes. Store staff were welcoming, courteous, and ready with my order—big thumbs up to them. ⸻ Why You Might Love It • It feels well-built and comfortable to hold. • Using Remote Play, I could easily play PS5 games away from the TV when it was free. • Thanks to a recent update, I can also stream select PS5 games through the cloud using my PS Plus Premium subscription—no need to turn on my console. ⸻ What You Should Know • It’s entirely reliant on decent internet. At home, it works great. But on slower or public connections, the picture gets fuzzy and gameplay can stutter   . • You won’t find any built-in games, apps, or offline play—just PS5 streaming, whether from your own console or Sony’s cloud. • You need a PS5 (or the cloud feature, which also needs a subscription) and solid Wi‑Fi to make the most of it. ⸻ Bottom Line Choose the Portal if you own a PS5, enjoy playing away from the TV, and have reliable internet. It’s well-made, easy to pick up at Best Buy, and now offers cloud streaming too. Just be aware—it’s not a portable gaming console on its own, and it won’t work well without good connectivity. This is a wonderful addition to our PS5 in which we are extremely happy with. it allows additional play from another room and enjoyment for the other players in the house. I’m so happy we purchased it.

I love using this when I can sit the couch with my wife and daughter. I will say battery life is not great and the connectivity can get a little laggy but it is still fun!

This PS Portal is easily my favorite gift. With balancing work life, relationships, school, and homelife, it’s given me the convenience to play my games more in the moments that I wouldn’t have before. Most of the time when I’ve found myself having the downtime to play my PS5, it’s been while my fiancé and I are in bed and she’s either aimlessly scrolling her tiktoks or watching her tv shows. We both work full-time and go to school, so of course we want to be in the same space even if we’re doing our own thing to de-compress in our own ways. This has given me the ease of being able to lay up with her and play my games simultaneously, while she rotates like a hot dog in a gas station, switching between the tv and her phone. No more having to get everything set up on the tv or her feeling like she’s not getting attention, because i’m using the tv. In her words, this is a gift to her too since it benefits her so much. Haha, all jokes aside, I highly recommend. Also to add, anyone who claims it’s laggy or has poor connection, needs to get better wifi. I have 500mbps and no issues. Only thing I would say that could make the Portal better would be to have the ability to play any game online with a wifi connection, while away from your console. It’s possible to play from the cloud, but you have to have the highest PlayStation subscription, and even then so, you can only play games that are current in the store for that subscription, which pretty well defeats the purpose for me. Overall though, I give it a 10/10.

Best Remote Play experience due to the controls replicating the PS5 dual sense. The Screen is bright and vibrant and even touch screen. Battery life if great although the charging is slow. As for Remote play connection and smoothness, it needs work and after 2 updates it's still not as smooth as using it on my iPhone.

After reading reviews and checking out videos, i was lucky to get this before it sold out. It has helped me put in 30 hours of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth. I am a full time worker with a wife and kid who has a disability. I dont have to feel guilty about taking the only tv when the wife or kid wants to watch something. It is easy to set up and get working. Its very seamless when using it and the performance is great. My internet is 30 mbps and i have not had an issue with using it at home. Can be charged with the same cable for the PS5 remotes and have been able to play it for a little over and hour before i put it down to do other things. Its very comfortable just like the PS5 remotes. It also feels light but not too heavy. The volume is really loud for this particular unit. It has been a purchase i dont regret getting.

The PlayStation Portal is an overall great product with only a few drawbacks. Positives: 1) If you have a strong connection you can play anywhere, not just on your home WiFi 2) The controller design feels really nice* 3) The screen is pretty good for being an LCD The Negatives: 1) The connection has to be good and have no interference, if you're on a 2.4GHz WiFi signal you'll probably have issues 2) The touchpad choice is kind of poor, requiring a double tap for a click and a double tap + a third held for a held on the screen. 3) The audio lacks really fine adjustment, which I have found to lead to it being slightly loud, or almost muted. 4) The screen appears to not be HDR which on a few occasions seemed like it lead to some weird color crushing issues. Overall the PS Portal is a great piece that I would highly recommend for someone who has kids that want the TV or someone who wants to play less realtime games while out of the house.

Love this portal . Battery life is good games run smooth . What more can u ask for ,i think sony have nailed it with thw software updates.

Purchased from Best Buy and it works great with my PS5. Screen looks amazing and controls feel premium. Streaming is smooth with good Wi-Fi. Perfect for playing without using the TV. Highly recommend buying it at Best Buy.

Its good for what it is and only for what its meant for if you havent really paid attention to it then read up before you finally are able to get one no it does not have its own games it does not have a browser it cant play music or videos it cant download anything and does not have Bluetooth BUT it does enhance the remote play experience feels better then using a backbone it has ergonomics of an actual controller with a mini tablet in the middle and there is less lag when compared to using my phone its just not the same when you clip your phone to a holder attached to a controller you have that top weight but with the portal its like a feather it is a bit awkward to carry around there arent any cases for these things yet so you gotta be careful yes its overpriced i think 150 wouldve been good and yes you waste less with a gamesir galileo G8 or a backbone or a razer kishi or a controller clip but the experience isnt the same if you really want this be patient keep looking DO NOT buy it for more then 220 dont go to fb and meet up somone selling it for 300 keep looking and be patient

Sturdy build and great performance. Took a bit to update first out of box but works like champ.

I used it at home and away from home, and it works great. I played several hours of FF7 remake and had minimal streaming issues. If Sony releases PSnow/Plus integration, it will be the cherry on top. I like how this console feel when I play games on it especially for a PlayStation handheld console I travel due to my job and I can’t carry my PlayStation console with me this PlayStation portal helps me keep track of my games

I got this for my boyfriend for Christmas. He absolutely loves it. He had been eyeing it for sometime and with some new updates he was sold on it but still didn’t want to buy it for himself. He uses it when we are vacation and obviously we aren’t dragging the whole Playstation on vacation or to a friends house. It’s really well built and the screen is fantastic quality.

Honestly, it’s a great product. Don’t have a single complaint about it. I just don’t use it as much as the regular. PlayStation highly recommended if you like to play on the go.

Looks and feels great. Very convenient if you want to play in bed or want/need to play while others are using the TV. Just make sure you have fast, reliable WiFi and it will feel like a portable PS5.

Excellent product, connection can be spotty if using separate wifi networks, make sure both of them are at least 100 mbps, even then there might be some lag during gameplay. But the screen is amazing and the controller is literally the same as the ps5 dualsense.

I love being able to play my PS5 in any room of the house while the main TV is occupied. It’s easy to setup and looks great. Make sure your WiFi has the juice to run this. One negative is the inability to connect wireless headphones that are not made by Sony, though you can connect wired headphones.

I knew what i was buying when i bought it, so my disappointment is really in myself. It is BEAUTIFUL and has a great screen, great controls, feels good in the hands, but just being a streaming device SUX!!! Playing your PS5 in your own house with the Portal works amazing, playing in a hotel room is sketchy at best, pick your game appropriately. Network heavy games, from the portal over a hotel network to your machine at home, etc etc, is going to lag, single player games are still going to lag but you won't miss much. If you are getting this for travel, rethink it. If you are getting this for connections between 2 homes, it should be ok.
