With the new updates on the portal you no longer need to own a ps5 to play on it. Must have at least 50mbs internet to play games without lagging.

Got this for myself for Christmas and I was happy to get it using a tracker. A lot of scalpers purchasing this and costing more than retail. This PS5 accessory is needed if you have your PS5 located in the living room and you are sharing the tv with family members. This has been a savior and the battery life last about 4-5 hours depending on the settings I.e lower brightness level, haptic and trigger etc. works flawlessly and I love that the screen itself is accommodating.

5 Stars all the way! This product solves all the problems I had with getting downtime to play. I typically play when the kids go down for bed. This enables me to play while not taking the television from my wife while still being in the same room with her. I highly recommend this product, please keep in mind as I told my wife it is essentially a controller with a screen. I have played a number of online games with no issues such as Destiny 2.

Initial opinion: Great clarity, onscreen setup was relatively simple, decent battery life (can also plug-in/charge while playing), good sound quality (has 3.5mm headphone jack, but haven't tried using USB-C to see if that works too), D-pad is replaced with a button on left side. I couldn't find a charging indicator/status light anywhere when I plugged it back in which I thought was odd. After playing a few hours on it, the only downside I found so far is that at times it does lag, freeze, get grainy and that was on the same home WiFi network with the PS5 in the next room. My router is a Netgear AX1800 and both the console/Portal were within 20 feet of the router. Since this isn't an issue of lack of bandwidth, it must be the Portal itself, especially since others have reported the same issue. However, it's nice to be able to play while someone else is watching TV. I was playing a downloaded game and haven't tried it with a physical disc game yet, but the lag may not be tolerable in the middle of an action scene/battle.

Love having my ps games portable. The screen is the right size compared to my iPhone previously. I think the WiFi issues are not great. The portal uses ps remote same WiFi as your home network which competes with others using the same WiFi. My internet is gigabit but my slow Google wifi creates network contention. It has pretty poor WiFi reception on top of that. When no one’s streaming it works great.

Got this to be able to use when i want to play remotely, been pleasantly suprised with it. the screen is bright and clear. the device is comfortable in my hands, its not heavy. the only downside i have noticed to it, are with games that use the button on the touchpad of a normal ps4/ps5 controller. ive not yet noticed a way to use that button on the Portal, ive only tried one game and it had otherways to get to the section that i needed to go to (the touchpad button was a shortcut to a map) other than this, i have loved everything about this device.

The controls fit perfectly in your hands unlike the switch. The battery life is really good. The graphics are amazing and I didn’t really see any lag while playing as llong as you have a good WiFi connection. If you are someone who wants to play while your tv is in use, or just to play on the couch or elsewhere in the house vs being front of the tv or monitor its a great device.

Nice to be able to take game around the house and not be tied to main tv. I thought this would be a shelf sitter but find myself using it on a regular basis to let the kids use tv or hang out on the porch and play. Great screen smooth controls.

I personally like the playstation portal. It’s comfortable to hold and convenient to use around the house especially if you have kids. One downfall is it doesn’t connect to the PlayStation sometimes even when on rest mode. So make sure you got somebody home to restart your PlayStation, in case you can’t connect away from home. I played Spider-Man Miles Morales flawlessly along with Mortal Kombat 1. I can’t wait till they add cloud streaming.

It's actually a fairly solid device that has surprised me. It can still be better. For the price and the functionality, it is pretty impressive. What really surprised me was that I was at my friends house 50 miles away in the next county. He has very good internet and solid wifi connectivity at his house. I was trying to show him the thing by connecting to his PS5. And that did not work well at all, in fact it got stuck and I had trouble getting out of an error screen. Then when I finally was able to get back to the home screen, it did something I wasn't expecting. After about 30 seconds. It told me that it had connected to my PS5 back home. A bit surprised I connected and proceeded to play a Contra demo, which requires some decent quickness to play the game well enough to beat it. And then I showed my friend the FF7 Rebirth demo, set the game to performance mode because there's no point playing a 30fps mode when the resolution is set to 1080p. And it ran at a slightly stuttered 60fps mode. Some odd artifacts from time to time, but overall. I was playing a very nice high production game at a very smooth framerate. My friend immediately took notice and became interested in the device. Obviously it boils down to you being somewhere with a good wifi connection and also having a good overall inter et connection. But for $200, you can play some really nice games that run good enough to actually play them. The only thing I am still disappointed is the battery life. Bit eventually you will go somewhere where there's a wall plug

The PS Portal is, by a lot of definitions, a solid device. It’s essentially built like a dualsense with a tablet sandwiched in between the sides and is largely comfortable to use. The big notice with this thing is that Sony’s protocol for connecting to your PS5 is…imperfect to say the least. Bottom line, I find this thing works great for stuff like sports games, card games, some indie games, or other types of games that don’t super heavily rely on precision timing. The input delay introduced through remote play is passable, but I wouldn’t dare use it to play any FPS or even some more difficult platformers. All in all, it has its uses, and if your use case aligns with the mentioned scenarios above, I’d recommend it.

This device is a game changer for me. I am no longer stuckon the tv. I can play this wherever i want in my house and its so convenient if you have kids. You do need good internet for it to really work but once it does its great. You also need ps plus premium if you want to stream from their library or your digital library.

This cater to a very specific audience. If you’re out of the house and around WiFi this is a great thing to own. Wish it was Bluetooth, wish the input lag was a little better and wish you could install apps. I reach for this when I’m not at home and I need to grind a couple of weekly challenges before the week is out. Hopefully one day an update makes this a standalone device
