People need to stop reveiwing products based on what they want them to do, and review them based on what they promise and or offer. This is a REMOTE PLAY handheld. Not a whole new handheld system, and if it was people would complain about paying over $500 and having to buy new games. The PS5 doesnt have bluetooth so why would the portal? It would cause latency anyway. If you have good internet speed you won’t have problems with lag at all. The system is very light and comfortable. I love that it has the same controller design as the PS5 controller. The screen is beautiful and large. And it’s CHEAP for $200. A controller is $70 on its own, so you’re paying an additonal $130 to play your games handheld. It does everything it claimed very well. This is the best way to remote play. Period.

    Best PS5 streaming option

Best option for remote play on PS5, No question. Crisp 1080p screen, loud speakers, great performan if you have stable wifi connection. A bit heavy with odd weight distribution...but still lighter and more ergonomic than any alternative. Awkward USB-C location...power and volume buttons locations are tricky.

I got this with the intention of using it in my second floor bedroom while my PlayStation 5 is in the basement. On my home Wi-Fi this thing has worked for me flawlessly. There’s nothing like laying in your bed and playing your PlayStation. There’s nothing much to the device itself as it’s just a streaming platform. What is there feels very well-made. The screen is bright and does its job. I can’t attest to playing this on public or away from home Wi-Fi but if you’re planning on streaming in your house and you have decent Wi-Fi, it is a great device.

I bought this for my brother for Christmas and he loves it. Now he can play his PS5 games anywhere in the house, allowing him to join us in the living room when we're watching something he's not very interested in. And he set it up quickly and independently.

Love the portal! The picture quality is way better than i had expected it to be considering i also have the OLED switch. Good to play my games on the go when im on vacation or traveling for work. Cloud gaming makes it all worth it.

    Amazing Open-Box Deal

I took a chance on this open-box PlayStation Portal from Best Buy, and wow – it’s absolutely flawless! The device looked brand new, with no scratches, marks, or signs of use. Everything was included: original packaging, charger, and documentation. Using it has been a game-changer for my household. I can now play my PS5 games seamlessly in any room while someone else hogs the TV. The 1080p screen is crisp and vibrant, the DualSense controls feel identical to the PS5 controller (haptics and all!), and latency is barely noticeable on my home Wi-Fi. For the price I paid (open-box discount + Best Buy’s reliability), this was an unbeatable value. If you see an open-box unit available, grab it with confidence. A perfect 10/10!

This is literally too bad overall because I LOVED THIS THING. It really really really needs it's own connectivity (besides a hotspot or a travel router) for on the go gaming. Other than that, it was perfect. It's great if you are sitting in the same room as your PS5 or even perhaps in another room or even outside (depending on your setup). It just really needs it's own feed. If an ASUS steam deck and the portal had a baby, I'd buy it.

PS PORTAL - Good effort/still needs work

The PlayStation Portal is a device sorely needed by PlayStation. I’ve always wanted to make my system portable and the portal sort of does that. I chose the portal over a backbone because I wanted something aside from my phone that was dedicated to on the go gaming. The portal does that. It’s a pretty large device, but it does fit my hands comfortably. My hands are by no means huge, but I could see folks with smaller hands or kids struggling a bit with the size. The display screen is amazing; great clarity and graphics. The sound is just OK. It didn’t seem like Sony put much into the portal in the way of speakers. But I can hear everything. I don’t like that you have to either connect wired headphones or use Sony branded earbuds for sound if you want some privacy or not to disturb others. My biggest gripe is its ability to connect wirelessly. You have to have to have access to WiFi to use this device, which makes it difficult at times and only useable in certain settings. I’ve connected through my phone but that connection was not great so it as a truly portable device like the Switch is not happening. I did play at a hotel once and it worked just fine, so it does work. Funny thing is I’ve had problems connecting at home. It’s great if you want to be away from your system in a different room but I’ve noticed that my connection sometimes drops at home. The screen will lag and occasionally I’d have to reconnect to my PS5. That was crazy frustrating. All in all, for the price (I got mine open box and on sale) it’s worth it. Here’s a big warning. If you want to buy this, make sure you start downloading games to your system. It can only play the game that is physically in your PS5. So if all you use are discs, it can only play the disc that’s in your system at that time. I don’t like that, so I’ve started to download other games to the hard drive. Since it mirrors your PS5, you can get to those. Good product. Hopefully, they’ll make improvements over time.

I wanted this thing for a while. So happy it became in stock and I was able to purchase one. Ever since it arrived, I have played on the portal 100% of the time. I prefer playing handheld on this large beautiful screen. TVs give me a headache so playing on the portal has allowed me to play my games more often. I can finally forsee myself getting through my backlog. This is a must but product if you own the ps5 and want to play handheld. I haven’t had any connection issues while playing. I use T-Mobile home internet.

Got this to be able to use when i want to play remotely, been pleasantly suprised with it. the screen is bright and clear. the device is comfortable in my hands, its not heavy. the only downside i have noticed to it, are with games that use the button on the touchpad of a normal ps4/ps5 controller. ive not yet noticed a way to use that button on the Portal, ive only tried one game and it had otherways to get to the section that i needed to go to (the touchpad button was a shortcut to a map) other than this, i have loved everything about this device.

The PS Portal is everything it is hyped up to be. I was skeptical, but it’s universally praised views on youtube(a platform where the tiniest flaws turns into an hour of non-stop complaining) sold me on getting it and it did not disappoint. Allows the family to watch something on the TV while I’m playing a game of NCAA 26. Go get it!!!!

This product is good when it works. You definitely need a strong wifi connection, not highly recommended for online multiplayer games because it’s going to have lag, as expected from any streaming. Build quality, sound and image are very good. If you heard about the small analog sticks, it’s not so much like the switch, to me it more just having a longer distance to reach the end of any direction when you move it, which makes it a weird sensitivity learning curve, noticeable difference from the dualsense remote.

This is a good bang for your buck if you plan to play at home. The ability to play anywhere in the house is very nice. You will want to hardwire the console to prevent any lag. Feels nice in the hands and the screen is very clear.

I've been impressed with how well it works compared to the normal remote play app. Noticably smoother and having a full PS5 controller is very nice. Kind of need a premium subscription to take full advantage but I've enjoyed it so far.

This little guy allows me to game anywhere in the house. Visual look good and can stream any game o have on my PS5. Does require good WiFi signal throughout the house but if you got it this provides gaming freedom. Haven't tried the cloud gaming feature yet but will give it a try soon. Great for multitasking. Game on my portal and computer and watch Netflix all at the same time with only 2 monitors
