Excellent gaming device. I was able to play it without the PS5 console because I had the PlayStation app. However, I did get the console for my birthday which made it a much better experience.

Gaming on PS5 anywhere in your house! Loving it so far, i haven’t experience any lagging my internet speed (1000mps upload/download). I also owned the backbone the phone screen is just too small for me to enjoy gaming. The vibrant screen delivers an immersive gaming experience. The only downside for me its a bit heavy. It can be a bit burdensome during extended gaming sessions. Overall I love it I wish PlayStation will roll out an update with web browser.

I purchased the Portal on release day and ended up returning it after a week. Software issues led to lots of stuttering in games, especially in scenes with lots of panning & motion. Control was nearly unplayable for me on the original system software due to this issue.
After a major software update (4.0) I heard these issues had been fixed and decided to give it another try. I'm happy to say that my experience is drastically different this time around. Games run near flawlessly and I don't notice any of the original issues that plagued the system on release.
Some open world games with lots of foliage (FFVII Rebirth) may still show slight signs of compression when the screen is in motion, but in terms of response times when buttons are pressed it feels really good.
If I had to critique the system, I wish the battery lasted longer and that the controller vibration was closer to the PS5 controllers. The vibration feels less precise overall.

I have been borderline about the psp for a while. A week ago I was like, what the heck and purchased it. The only problem I had was the graphics. The latest update dropped the other day. When I say game changer, it looks amazing now. Long as you have really good wifi connection your good to go. So if you're thinking about getting it, go ahead.

Used this a lot working the night shift away from home. If you love gaming and still always spend most of your time away from home then this is a must get.

If you’ve already got a PS5 and have a family that likes to use the tv this is very helpful. Play your ps5 anywhere throughout your house as long as you have Wi-Fi. Also with the new cloud update you can use this bad boy on the go! (If you’re a PSplus member)

It’s a remote player! Lets me be lazy and play things from bed, instead of getting up to go into another room, also convenient when someone else is using the tv the system is connected to.

4 out of 5 because while it is amazing to have a portable ps5 essentially. The downside is the lack of ability to play your games offline without wifi or without the ps5 itself.

It has potential to be a very great device only problem is it drops signal a lot. You have to have good service still learning how to work it but I’m happy

We love this profuct! We purchased 2. One for each of us. There is an ability to play via remote play or via streaming the game from the servers. I highly recommend especially if you have a gaming family. My daughter is able to play on my playstation while I play on my portal. I understand some people may have difficulties understanding the technicalities of using the device as you MUST have playstation plus the highest tier to use the streaming part of the device. So you do need a subscription for use of the ps portal. There is hardly any storage on the device which could also be detrimental as well. For the price point I will say it is fair for what it is. Its hard to say there are competitors as this isnt meant to be a stream all device or like other devices. The fps are not very good but its to be expected.

Now that you can stream playStation games without the need of a PlayStation, this handheld opens up an entire world of Gaming. The ergonomics are great and the screen is vivid and bright. I would definitely recommend this if you have a PlayStation account.

Looks good, but falls short where it matters
The display and ergonomics are solid, but the lack of HDR support is puzzling—especially since most TVs and PS5 setups run HDR by default. VRR isn’t needed here, but HDR should have been included.
The bigger issue is connectivity. This device only supports Wi-Fi 5, which feels outdated. At minimum, it should’ve shipped with Wi-Fi 6E for smoother streaming. Since the Portal can only stream games (either through your PS5 or PS Plus), network performance is everything—and it simply doesn’t deliver.
I ended up selling mine, as I get a much better experience streaming to my PC handheld. Third-party apps let you boost bitrate, and with Wi-Fi 6E the stream quality is noticeably sharper.
For $200, this should be the best PS5 streaming device on the market. While the DualSense integration is nice, the shortcomings outweigh the benefits. I cannot recommend this product.
