It performs as advertised, but for $30 it seems overpriced. The build quality seems very cheap ... seems more like a $15-$20 remote.

Doesnt work as good as i hoped. Still end up having to use controller sometimes.

The remote seems cheap, Sony should know by now how to make a nice remote. I never use this for my PS5 and wish I did not make the purchase.

Quit working after 4 months and Sony wanted me to pay to ship it to their service center for repair. Last time I buy this piece of crap!

Not really worth the purchase. This is finicky with some apps, (i.e. rewind can be spotty), and even though it connects to a TV, you can only turn the TV on/off and change the volume, but you can't actually change the input, so, unless your TV is set to automatically select an input at power on, you still need a TV remote. Also does not have an audio jack for headphones, which isn't a big deal, but I think it would be better if it did have one.

I got this remote because using a controller to navigate media is super annoying. However, this remote doesn't help much. The ergonomics are terrible, all the buttons are flat. The main directional buttons are all separated as well, which makes quick navigation harder. It also feels weird in your hand and there's no backlighting. If you do plan to use your ps5 primarily for media, I suppose this is your best option.

Definitely makes watching anything on PS5 alot easier

Bought this but don’t really use it. I think it might be beneficial for people who don’t have a smart tv and use their Ps5 instead.

Definitely not necessary to have if you play video games even a little and understand the controller

Works great. Nice not having use my controller for my streaming services.

Not particularly ergonomic. I feel like you have more control over the movie with the dual sense. There is no apparent hide menu option

A little disappointed still having to use on screen menus for some functions when I purchased a remote.

I ORDERED THIS ON MAY 25 2025. FEDEX KEEPS SAYING IT IS DELAYED. IT KEEPS SHIPPING BETWEEN WA AND OR FOR SOME ODD REASON WHEN I LIVE IN WA. IT WILL NOT LET ME CANCEL BECAUSE IT IS “ENROUTE” SO I AM STUCK JUST WAITING. IT IS JUNE 17 2025 NOW.

absolute garbage remote in every way. i went into this knowing it was cheap/plastic feeling, and also that it had buttons that are essentially advertisements for services. my reason for purchasing was to 'skip chapters' while playing a bluray. you know how when you insert a bluray disc there's a never ending amount of ads, trailers blah blah. you have to skip past these each time. i was using the ps5 controller (R1) to do this. i thought hey, i'll get the official media remote... THE MEDIA REMOTE DOESNT HAVE SKIP BUTTONS, ONLY REWIND/FASTFORWARD who leaves off skip functionality!? sony, that's who.

Don’t even waste your money on this. It worked fine for a few days then it stopped working. I had to sinc it with the ps5/tv again but after a few days it did it again and then I was not able to make it work again. It’s a beautiful design and very convenient to have it but it’s worthless if doesn’t work.

You need to pair with ps5 first. Doesn’t work right out of the box and the remote is a bit slippery to grab.

Gets the job done but buttons shoudl be more pronounced and for the love of god have an led backlight!

Pretty disappointed in the remote. It does the bare minimum it needs to, and can turn the console as well as the TV on and off, but all the current media apps, including purchased content on the PS store, are not optimized for controller use. In many media apps, controls still require a button press from the PS5 controller rather than just the media remote. I'd skip this and just use a PS5 controller.
