They are great when they work.

Sound profile and ANC is great, as to be expected by Sony. Software and controls are not great and could use a LOT of refinement. Volume / Playback / ANC controls on the buds is clunky at best. 4+ taps to turn the volume up or down is REALLY a pain and only works sometimes. They do not connect automatically to the 2 paired devices. No ability to change what each tap does on the ear bud is an oversight in my opinion. I have had a number of times where they just disconnect, and I have to pair them again. Lag time between a tap on the bud is noticeable. For a 300 dollar flagship product, I expected a more polished user interface and a more stable experience. If it was not for the sound quality and ANC I would return and go back to my Pixel Buds Pro.

I use Windows and Android devices. The MX4's had two issues on a daily basis, but were otherwise top tier. The touch points were inconsistent and they were too big for my right ear. I got used to these issues and they remain the best of the best. However, MX5's have solved these issues. Sound quality on the MX4's were great, but these are even better. This is what I wanted.

Amazing earbuds with great bass and amazing anc

For this concern we can recommend checking the Sony | Sound Connect app, where there's an option to "Bluetooth Connection Quality." You can often choose between "Prioritize Sound Quality" (which uses higher-bitrate codecs like LDAC) and "Prioritize Stable Connection." Selecting the latter might reduce instances of distortion in busy areas by optimizing the connection for stability.

The quality of sound is outstanding. The ANC is better than my over ear bose and my moms over ear sony headphones. The sound is way better than any airpods I’ve tried. BUT…i have had these earbuds fail on me twice for the same reason. The right earbud for both pairs would suddenly not allow ambient noise through. That feature that actively sends the noise of your surroundings into the earbud so you can hear? It just stops. And nothing fixes it. I felt like i was going crazy or i was losing hearing in my right ear. I wanna like these so so bad but i cant trust them if two separate pairs failed for the exact same reason.

But i wouldnt use it for my personal use since I use an electric skateboard to move around and the wind reduction is not available (yet, i hope).

When the Noise Canceling function is set to ON, or the Ambient Sound Control is set to ON, the wind noise may be louder depending on the usage conditions. If this is the case, check the following:
In the Sony | Headphones Connect app, tap Sound → Ambient Sound Control, and then select Automatic Wind Noise Reduction. If you are bothered by wind noise even though the Automatic Wind Noise Reduction is enabled, set the Noise Canceling function and the Ambient Sound Mode to OFF.
Notes:
When the headphones detect wind over a certain amount of air volume the Automatic Wind Noise Reduction feature turns off some of the microphones used for noise canceling. You will notice that the Noise Canceling function becomes weaker in a windy environment with this setting. This is not a malfunction.
The Automatic Wind Noise Reduction feature will not start working with only a slight amount of wind.

These improve on the sound and shrink it down to an even smaller form factor. They are great headphones but I find myself missing the larger size of the others.

Best sound quality

Sound quality is impeccable and they have a very snug fit with the different sizes for the ear plugs they have. Only issue i had was the case comes open a little to easily and ended up losing one of my headphones

Worth the price!

Even with having an iphone, I still made the choice to get these, and i dont regret it! Use them almost everyday, long battery even with daily use, quality feel to them. So far as sound quality, i'm not a professional, but i'd side with these against the airpods, just because I like them so much!

Excellent replacement for the prev gen over ear

Used the mx4 over ear for the longest time, but with these, I couldn't tell the difference. Excellent noise canceling, great sound quality but super comfy since it let's me stay way cooler that the over ear.

They Do Everything They Say They Can And Some!

The app runs smoothly and the earbuds deliver everything Sony said they would. Noise canceling is top tier and the touch navigation is easy to use. Have recommended to multiple people. I use mine mostly in the shop. The ambient mode works great. All i have to do is talk. Music stops plaing. So I can have a basic conversation. With out having to get my phone out and manualy turn the music off.
