Great overall!

Wow what an improvement. Yes, the app setup requires patience. But, during regular use the only setting I adjust is noise cancelling vs. some ambient sound. I use none of the fancy spatial settings because they are just weird. I don't want to move my head and have the sound move. Who likes this? I simply do not agree with online reviewers that say advanced sound codecs don't make a noticeable difference. I've got serious noise damage and switching on the LDAC makes a monster positive difference on my android (sorry iphone people). The sound is rich and full for two really tiny buds. My first set of buds with no ear clip and these are very secure. Call quality great! So rare today.

Amazing earphones

If you find these too bulky, our LinkBuds S offer a much more compact and lightweight design while still providing great sound.

Great earbuds but very poor ear-tips

The app is great and has lots of great features. The only issue I find with those earbuds are the ear tips. The air foam ear tips do not stay in their position within the ear canal. After trying all the fitting sizes, none of them seem to provide enough comfort and keep moving out of place. It is disappointing for pricey earbuds like those to have cheap and uncomfortable ear tips. I believe Sony can improve the ear tips in the future and improve the design and comfort level of those buds. One improvement that could be considered for the future is including ear wings to stabilize the ear tips in the ear canal.

Smaller, lighter excellent sound.

Buds are aliitle smaller and lighter and the case is definitely smaller. The sound is about the same as the older version but the noise canceling seems better. Worth the money in my opinion.

Great for calls; not great for ANC and exercise

I was looking to replace an old Jabra Active pair that I loved and alas, these aren’t as good— ANC isn’t as good; didn’t fit my ears as well as Jabra; case battery only really good for 1-2 full charges (I had to charge the case every other day, whereas the Jabra cases need recharging 1-2x/ week). I’m keeping these as my extra pair and ordered a pair of Jabras through a reseller

You've hit on a really important point regarding noise canceling: you're absolutely right that the noise canceling capabilities of compact in-ear headphones, while exceptional for their size, won't quite match the performance of our larger, over-ear WH-1000XM series headphones. The larger physical seal and different driver technology in over-ear models allow for a broader and often deeper reduction of ambient noise.
And we completely understand the challenge of practicing golf with over-ear headphones—that's a perfect scenario where the WF-1000XM5s truly shine, offering high-quality sound and effective noise reduction in a much more compact, activity-friendly form factor.
