I dont think the active noise cancelation is all that great. Unless my music is real loud i still here everything thats around me. The earbuds are comfortable but wait untill these are on sale if you can

To get the most out of noise cancelling, make sure the earbuds create a secure fit in your ear—adjusting the ear tip size can really help. It’s also a good idea to check if noise cancelling is set to its highest level trough the Sony Sound Connect app. As well, a firmware update might be needed, which you can confirm in the Sony Sound Connect app, you can find more information in the following link: https://www.sony.com/electronics/support/wireless-headphones-bluetooth-headphones/wf-1000xm5/software/00296561 If you’re still hearing a lot of background noise, gently cleaning the earbud microphones may also improve performance.

It could be a deal breaker for me until I found a solution. I have to buy a $25 third party tips to make it work with my ear. I would give it 5 stars if I dont have to spend extra money. $300 headphone should come with premium tips already.

No custom touch controlls

They really need to add custom options for the touch sensor buttons like they do with the wf-xm4000. I want full volume controls on my left ear that I can scale up and down with only 1 or 2 taps. Pressing both side of my ear 4 times to try and get the volume just right is a ridiculous oversight. Its so bad I though it just needed and update but there is still no way for volume customization like the previous model. I don’t know if Sony will update this feature back into the earphones but until they do I would just stick with her older model until it’s addressed. Basically you need to pull your phone out of your pocket every time you want to adjust your volume reasonably. As of now the app allows you to change the touch sensor functions but the presets for each earbud are locked. For example I can choose Ambient Sound Control/Quick access, or Playback Control. If you choose Ambient Sound Control the features are locked to taps. 1 tap is ambient sound toggle. Double and triple tap literally say "Not Assigned" and get this... as if you were a drummer; 4 taps will lower the volume ONE LEVEL DOWN. Like how did this happen? If you choose Playback Controls as one of the presets then 4 taps will increase the volume by one notch just like the Ambient presets lower it by the same amount. This is a very bizarre oversight. Yes the quality of the Sony WF-1000XMFs are nice but the functionalities are just as important as the sound quality or the noise canceling features and unfortunately they removed a key feature that was present in the older previous model. And since use these every day at my job I constantly need to adjust the volume in order to communicate with people and now I begrudgingly have to grab my phone in order to do that now. The custom touch volume controls for the WF-10000XM4 were perfect. Increasing the volume rapidly with a single tap and double tap and holding it to lower the volume is my go to function from my XM4's. And XM5's are completely inferior to the previous model.

Great Sound Quality for NC In-Ear

I tweaked the EQ easily in the app, and the performance is incredible. Highly reccomend as they offer phenomenal noise cancelling and sound quality - better sound quality than the Bose equivalent in my opinion.

Dont get me wrong i love their tech.but almost loosing one earbud is not a good option. After carefully researching adjustable buds, sony leaded the pack not only as a better rated ear bud but had multi adjustable earpieces to fit just about anyone ears. BB staff shine again with great support. V/R, Ken H.

There is no option, tweaking, or setting that was not appreciated !!! Only one slight issue: They are way smaller than You would think. Easy to drop when handling them in and out, of your ears or the charging case. I repeat: EveryThing else about these Buds is Industry Leading and ahead of the competition. Just go ahead and purchase them, You will not be sorry.

Good quality headphones, but not worth the price

But at the end of the day, they are headphones and bonus features can only add so much. For $100 less, there are headphones with similar sound quality and less connectivity problems. These would be 5 star headphones at $130 dollars, but they don’t give enough of a noticeable quality increase to be 5 stars at $230.

Best ANC in an earbud!

With the ANC off they have really decent isolation. ANC on and you're in your own world by yourself. Pricetag was worth it (in my opinion) I daily drive these with the ambient pass through for a couple hours at a time. Best earbuds ive owned hands down. The app is not super intuitive but offers decent customizations and the full array of toggles for the features they offer.

Amazing Quality Earbuds, Fitment was not for me

These earbuds are amazing. The quality and features alone stand out among competitors. However, I did have issues with fitment. I tried all of the provided ear tips but the never fit well enough and this is a larger issue for me cause I wanted to use them while working out with as well. I am not a fan of the memory foam type ear tips so I did return them and tried out the Bose which had better fitment but did notice that the Sony buds had better sound quality and loudness.

It's unfortunate that you were not satisfied with its fit and design. For optimum fit and comfort, it is recommended to wear the headphones properly. When changing the earbud tips, try the earbud tip sizes in order from the larger ones to the smaller ones. The most suitable size of the earbud tips for left and right ears may be different. The “Sony | Headphones Connect” app also helps you determine which earbud tips suit you best to achieve the optimal noise canceling effect, sound quality, etc.
