Amazing sound, comfort, and noise cancellation

Sony definitely didnt dissappoint with this latest model. My wife loved the amazing sound quality when listening to music. She recently went on a trip overseas and used these on the plane and she was completely confortable wearing these for most of the 10 hour flight, and the noise cancelling was awesome for her, and she is particularly sensitive to airplane noise. She was able to actually get some sleep on plane. She isnt the most tech proficient but she had no problem understanding how to use these buds and use the associated app. Would highly recommend to anyone

The earbud tips are extremely comfortable, though they are a little bit of a pain to keep clean. As long as you're conscious of cleaning the tips when you remove them, there should be no issues. Sound is great and very customizable based on how you like to listen. Even with a single side in when sitting at work, I still feel like I get sufficient sound to be able to lose myself in music or anything I need to listen to and don't feel like I'm missing out. The microphone quality is great, and the only real reason I looked to move past my corded Bose noise cancelling buds.

Top notch noise canceling

Noise cancellation is top notch. I also own the Bose Quiet Comfort Ultra earbuds. There are pros and cons to both, but I have to give the edge to Sony. These are the best ear buds I have ever owned.

Decent buds but know the shortfalls.

Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am coming from the previous XM4 earbuds and I have to say that I miss those more than ever. The redesign for XM5 has made the earbuds much more rounded and slightly smaller which means they are harder to get out of the case and get them in your ears. Battery life seems similar to the previous generation but I would recommend getting a protection plan in case Sony bricks this generation with another battery roasting software update. The case is smaller as well but doesn't feel like its lost much if any charge capacity. That said I would love to see Sony and other bud makers come out with a more rugged case as standard or offer their own reinforced outer case for sale right beside the buds. The Sony software is "Ok" plenty of settings to adjust EQ modes, controls, etc... however some bugs like the Speak-to-chat function unpausing music that you stopped yourself or just outright turning off by itself are still very much around. The controls are the same from the previous generation, it would seem that with the redesign the size of the touch zone has shrunk so you can expect to fight for a while to learn where EXACTLY you need to tap to get functions to work correctly. Calls are clear and no one has complained about my voice quality. Overall I am left wishing for the previous generation size and shape for ease of use but otherwise these sound great and have some of the best battery life I have seen in the segment. The software needs refinement and the user will need to practice to get accurate with the controls. Beyond that they are good buds in a market segment flooded with plenty of very bad low quality products.

We truly appreciate your input with the design, touch control, and functions through the Sony Headphones Connect app. As for the Speak-to-Chat function, The Speak-to-Chat mode activates when the headset detects the speech of the person wearing the headset, but in rare cases it may activate in response to vibrations caused by devices such as electric toothbrushes, electric massagers, and electric shavers, or by activities such as brushing your teeth, coughing, or humming. In cases where the Speak-to-Chat mode frequently activates by accident, set Speak-to-Chat to “L Sensitivity”.

I did swap out the earbud tips as the stock ones didn't give me that seal that foam tips tend to have. Battery lasts a long time and the noise cancelling is great. Definitely recommend.

Nice Upgrade

I feel that the XM5's are a strong upgrade over the previous version. The only thing i am not a fan of are the ear tips. I went ahead and purchased a pair of silicone tips as they provide better bass.

10/10 in Quality and Performance

They have excellent noise cancellation and the music is very good quality as well. My only problem is when I’m around lound noises, the person on the other line hear robotic voice or choppy sentences. Recently went through a full wash with a soaking option and after sitting in rice for 24 hours, theyre still working fine. I cant use the right one to oause music but the noise canceling works and the audio is almost perfect as before.

I hear great sound!

Battery life is great! I think the only problem for certain people might be the ear buds. Not everyone will like how they fit. But if you get used to them then i think most will like them.

I was going to be on a long flight and wanted to drown out the background noise. They worked tremendously for this purpose, my wife would say too well. The reason for missing a star is the voice to talk feature has its flaws if I cleared my throat it would react as if I was talking. Also when ear buds are in case my phone app would not recognize them so could not tell charge level until I took them out of the case.

I’ve compared a lot of high end buds and these are my favorite. Best noise cancelling. Work in a loud shop and they protect me hearing well. Sounds quality is superb with excellent bass! Stays connected over 50’ away. Battery last most the day continually but charge in the case over break.
