Best in ear true wireless yet!

Owned for 1 month when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have the Sony over ear WF-1000XM5 headphones and loves them so much I decided to try these in ear headphones understanding that Best Buy has a great return policy. Obviously there was no return given the stars rating. These things are amazing. The noise cancelling is incredible and the companion app is great allowing multiple devices to be used. Overall I’m thrilled with these and find myself using them for more than yard work as originally planned.

Great Earbuds

These earbuds connect much faster via Bluetooth. Sony's app continues to have great features, like a tuneable equalizer. I prefer these earbuds to Apple's AirPods Pro (2nd generation), which I returned in favor of keeping these. The microphone is great for calls indoors, although there is wind-noise outdoors.

Great sound and features... but the fit

Top notch sound quality and features, i can tell its made by sony. My main complaint is the fit. They seem to be fairly big in my ears and start to hurt just after 10 minutes. I have always had average sized ears, but this seems to be bothering me. I'm thinking about returning them. But if they fit someone else well, they really are perfect

They sound good, cancel out almost all noise, and are easy to use. I just wish they fit in my ears. My ear canal is just too small for the smallest size, leading me to have a huge headache after about 10 minutes of use. However, some 3rd party ear inserts from either CharJenPro on Amazon or COMPLY ear tips will solve that for you. 4/5 overall. If the foam wasnt so stiff it'd be a 5/5.

I dont think the active noise cancelation is all that great. Unless my music is real loud i still here everything thats around me. The earbuds are comfortable but wait untill these are on sale if you can

To get the most out of noise cancelling, make sure the earbuds create a secure fit in your ear—adjusting the ear tip size can really help. It’s also a good idea to check if noise cancelling is set to its highest level trough the Sony Sound Connect app. As well, a firmware update might be needed, which you can confirm in the Sony Sound Connect app, you can find more information in the following link: https://www.sony.com/electronics/support/wireless-headphones-bluetooth-headphones/wf-1000xm5/software/00296561 If you’re still hearing a lot of background noise, gently cleaning the earbud microphones may also improve performance.

microphone problems

I recently had to reset the earbuds and remove all bluetooth devices from my phone and reconnect the earbuds for the mic to work. sound quality is good. the foam tips are nice. with the bugs these have i dont think it’s worth the price point at all. Much cheaper earbuds work better out the box than these.

Worthy upgrade

They make receiving phone calls a task because you have to go to your call options and pick phone speaker or headset. I’m using an Apple iPhone 13 Pro Max. The Apple AirPods just sync better with the iPhone. I wanted some quality earbuds. They sound amazing but it’s going to take an update to fix the bugginess.

Great sound quality but ok comfort

AirPod pros are better for a daily wear. But if all you care for is music quality and 3 hour music sessions than buy these!

Great performance and design but low IPX rating

Very impressive sound performance and design. I'm so happy Sony made these a bit smaller. The XM4's were too big and bulky and not very comfortable. The only reason I gave 4 stars is because for the price the XM5's should have have had a much higher IPX rating. Very disappointing that Sony decided to abandon that aspect of the premium buds. The earbuds support LDAC which is the codec I use. Make shure your phone supports LDAC
