Another knockout out pair of buds

Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Its only been a day with these buds, but theyre blowing practically everything else ive used out of the water! The only things comparable to them were the previous gen XM4s (a used unit i returned due to that awful battery issue) and the beoplay EQs, which have even finer soind quality, but lack features and this top notch ANC. Battery life so far seems to last me the full 8 hours with ANC, which works so well my gf came home and scared the life outta me while I was napping with them in! Truly cannot hear anything other than a close and loud siren and other hard to predict sounds, but they do the job very well! My one issue is a lack of customization for the quick tap buttons, frustratingly, you cant change the individual settings per bud, rather you have to change the grouped functions per each bud, so if you want playback controls, you get all or nothing on the right or left bud (or both if you so choose). Maybe this can ve fixed with an update, i dont see it being a hard issue to remedy, other than that, automatic 5 stars!!

Excellent fit to my ears.

They come with extra rubber cushions for precise fit and the best noise cancellation . They have great sound, and work well with my over the ear “ear muff” hearing protection for mowing; which is mostly when I wear them. (I like to listen to podcasts when I mow.)

Noise canceling is superb

The noise canceling works well. I also love the compact size of these earbuds,including the case. The sound quality is wonderful! You get what you pay for and these earbuds are quality. They are comfortable as well.

They did not feel like they were heavy enough to fall off like the last model. Really nice color options as well. Noice canceling was top notch as well as the transparency feature. Feels light enough to forget its even in my ear.

Overall good headphones

The noise cancellation and ambient reduction is a nice touch depending on what setting you use the headphones in. One issue is the mic quality is not the best as in meetings colleagues would say they’re not able to hear me well. Also, I don’t really enjoy not being able to customize what the tap features do without using one of their presets. If you’re using this just for audio quality and personally want good noise cancellation then I recommend either waiting for the new xm6 headphones to come out or, if there’s a deal, get these.

If you are looking for a clear and high sound quality sound these are the headphones for you. The battery lasts very long. The bass is outstanding especially, with the app. You can adjust the amount of bass or the type of sound you prefer.

Connection is not as good as xm4

But it's way comfortable then XM4, so keeping them.

The noise canceling is superb. Only problem is after wearing them for an hour they start to hurt and they dont stay on when running

I had to return it but it's got the best sound and battery life. I wish I had money for two earbuds so I could keep this one too. I bought Bose quietcomfort and very happy anyway.

But when Sony recently sunsetted that model, I got a pair of these X5 Wireless earbuds to replace them. In general they are what I expected; good sound, good noise cancelling, and enough battery for about 2 days of all day use without charging. I really appreciated the app’s “fit test” feature to help you find the right size tips to get the best noise cancelling. While I still wish I could just get another pair of the really great wired buds sony used to sell, after using these daily for about a month I don’t regret buying them and overall they are definately the best pair of *wireless* earbuds I’ve ever used.

Good but some downsides

They work really well and I like the ability to customize the touch controls. I have three complaints though. First, the touch controls are way too sensitive. It’s very easy to accidentally turn off and on the noise cancellation. When my hair is wet, I can’t wear them since it just constantly pushes the buttons. Second, the noise cancellation is not great. There’s not a huge difference between when it is on and off. Third, the automatic “smart” noise cancellation that tries to recognize when you would want it on or off is backwards. It always turns off the noise cancellation when I’m in a noisy area, which is exactly when I need the noise cancellation more.
