Cons: Don't seem to have the same level of ANC as the xm4s but really close. Still don't have location feature. I wasn't going to buy these after my XM4s suffered the dreaded battery issue, but for some reason my local Best Buys didnt have any of the Sennheiers in stock and were at least two weeks out on having them shipped to me. That said, reading numerours reviews gave me the impression that the XM5s still hold the top spot for ANC in this price range even if it is slightly less than the XM4s. I can sit in a loud room with the ANC on, and as long as i have music or something else playing, even at a low level, i really have to try hard to hear nosie from the room. As far as the talk to pause feature goes, it still sucks, a cough, sigh, heavy breath still activates it, if you stop talking to listen to someone else talk, it will start playing whatever you are listing to causing you to interrupt them while hitting pause or speaking to pause again. I am no audiophile by any means but the sound these produce is great, very clear sound, and the bass is crazy (definitely need to make sure you have the right tips for your ears though, they'll still sound good but the bass falls off). Others did complain about how difficult these were to setup, i didnt really find the setup difficult, just a little to much seemed like it tool an hour to due but in realitywas probablyabout 15mins. Definitely more setup options than i remember the xm4s having. Should you buy if you have working XM4s? I would say no, unless you have comfort issues, there's just not that many differences other than the size. If you are coming from the XM4s or others brands that have had issues effecting their use i would recommend the extended warranty if you can swing it, i got it this go around just in case.

Great noise cancelling, limited otherwise

The sound is solid, the noise cancelling is best in class. But the flexibility of touch controls leaves a lot to be desired. And the connectivity can be finicky. I encounter random disconnects and fail to connect up on initial removal from case. But it's an infrequent enough problem that I mostly forgive it. The Sony app allows for some customization of touch controls, but this feature is outclassed by brands like Jabra and Samsung that offer a lot more flexibility. Overall, these are solid. But next time I'm in market, I might try a different brand.

Amazing ear buds

Sound quality is off the charts. These clearly outperform Apple AirPods and I’ve owned both. The bass is deep and punchy out of the box which I prefer, however the sound profile is completely adjustable using the Sony headphones app. Noise cancelling is excellent and can easily be toggled by touching the outside of the earbud. Loved the variability in rubber ear cup sizes. Looks great as well. Comfortable fit. I would definitely recommend this product if you are looking for some high end earbuds.

However does come with couple of caveats. Most notably connection issues arise, when connected to more than one device at a time, connection will cut in-and-out. Also has difficulty staying connected to my Windows Laptop, even if it’s the only device it is bluetoothed to. Fine connection with my iPhone and Nintendo Switch. tldr: Is more of a 4.5 than a 4 star.

Quiet Enough to Hear My Own Letdown

The noise cancelling is phenomenal—even while running my riding lawn mower or tractor, I can barely hear the engine. The sound quality is solid, and they fit comfortably. My biggest gripe is the volume. I get that Sony likely keeps it capped for liability and hearing protection reasons, but I paid a premium for these and I’m a grown adult capable of making my own choices. I don’t use headphones often, but when I do it’s usually while working outside or working out—and in those moments, I want loud music. These just don’t deliver the punch I was looking for. I’m not expecting over-ear headphone levels, but at full volume I could almost take a nap with them in. If you’re buying them for plane travel, phone calls, or casual listening, you’ll probably love them. Everything else—the noise cancellation, comfort, sound quality—is top-notch. But if, like me, you want your earbuds to crank up and push you through a workout or a day of yard work, you may find yourself wishing for more.

The only gripe I have is the case maybe needing something like Velcro, so if you drop by accident, your headphones won't go in two different directions. It's definitely scary losing these at the price point they're at. Connectivity is also very nice, as soon as you put them in your ear it's paired immediately (As long as BT is active that is) . As far as the battery, it lasts quite a bit through my work shift which is about 8:30am-5:30pm. I've noticed that the Left earpod usually drains faster for some reason, but that's just something to stay aware of. Other than that the charging is also relatively fast as well, the feature to have noise cancelling and ambient sound makes thing pretty cool and it works very nicely. Talking through the earpods also seem to work very well, no one really has trouble hearing me unless I'm quiet on my end because I'm soft spoken sometimes. So like I said, this is by far my favorite pair that I have owned in my history of buying earpods. I was looking for headphones at the time and got pretty much sold into getting these and I honestly do not regret my purchase and I hope the same goes to you!!

Best sound Earbuds, but not for me.

For some reason to me, they are not confortable after some time. I even got other tips but they just never feel confortable. I know that is is probably a personal reason, my ears are maybe the reason why, but that was my experience. The potential 5 star is because everything that people say about the sound quality is true. By far the best small earbuds you can buy for audio and noise cancelling, but connection can be a little unstable. Maybe was my set but they would just disconnect randomly even after updates. The app is suer useful and the sound profiles are actually really cool. You can hear the difference in high res audio from available platforms like Amazon Music or Apple Music. Very cool. Loved them, but they are not for me mostly for the fit, the connection was ok, I could get used to it and maybe I am pampered with how perfect connection is with my AirPods, but that was the deal breaker for me, fit.

I'm not an audiophile; I only wanted something for the gym, but I can tell when something sounds great and these do. One thing I've always been sensitive to on my old earbuds is how loud I have to set the volume to...almost always at max in order to hear my content over the background gym noise. The noise cancellation on these are so good I am often setting my volume below 50% on my iphone! I think some of this is due to the fitment of the earbuds in my ear canal...its a pretty good fit, much better than previous brand. Truth be told, I have noticed the fit could be a little better but I haven't really played around with the other sized rubber ear inserts. Also, one other thing I noticed....these sync with my phone much better, many times I don't get a notification that they are pairing because they are already connected. The microphone seems to be better for when I need to take a call (this is subjective as its based on feedback I'm getting from different callers). I had complaints with my previous pair. One minor complaint (that seems to happen with other brands as well), as earbuds get smaller and smaller, they tend to be harder to handle when removing from charging cradle to placing in ear. However, I've noticed this with other brands as well. Overall, I think these are an outstanding set of earbuds, with great sound quality, excellent fitment in the ear canal and world class noise cancellation that allows for lower volumes required.

They sound as good as you hope earbuds could sound. The case is super clean and easy. They hold a charge forever. The touch response is great. The app is pretty good. If there wasn't part two Id say buy them immediately. They are amazing. Part 2. The fit for my ears just isn't there. I bought some silicon eartips to replace the foam and this helped. If I could get these to fit as well as the inexpensive Samsung earbuds, they would be the absolute best. I can't quite get the fit. So, if they fit your ears, buy them today.

They often take two tries to connect correctly, and occasionally only one earbud will connect despite being completely charged. Noise canceling improved dramatically with aftermarket tips. The earbuds come packaged with five sizes of foam tips that are very comfortable, and provide a fit for just about anyone. Using the Sony Sound Connect App, you can determine the best size tips to use in each ear for maximum noise cancellation. The noise cancelling itself is very good, but I find myself missing the level of quietness I'm used to with the Bose QuietComfort Ultra Earbuds. Although the case for the earbuds feels somewhat light and fragile, I've had no issues with it, and found an outer case I like for it. The case is also pleasantly small and easy to fit into pockets, a bag, or the center console of a vehicle.

The Best Bluetooth Headphones I’ve Ever Owned

These are the only set of headphones I ever used that come close to the $1000 Shure set. It has rich and clear bass and tames out the “air” you get a lot of times with Bluetooth headphones. I hear things on tracks I don’t hear with ordinary headphones, and the bass is rich and clear. Battery life is great, I get sick of listening to stuff long before the battery runs out, and they are reliable and even stay in when jogging. If I have one complaint, the surface is them are pretty smooth so you gotta be careful holding them. Otherwise the best Bluetooth headphones I’ve ever owned.

Specifically, I look at the ear fit, and it rarely falls out of my ear. Never had any problems with the battery life. There have been some minor connectivity issues. Overall, I would recommend them even though they are on the pricier side.

These are such a huge downgrade over the WF-1000XM4s. Pros: - Lighter than the WF-1000XM4 - More comfortable - Slightly better battery Cons: - Randomly disconnects from devices - Touch controls are horrendous compared to the xm4 (why do you have to tap 4 times on one side just to raise or lower volume??) - Randomly turns of ANC (have to connect to a device with the app and re-enable) - Does not automatically connect to the two devices that you want it to, have to manually change the playback device (xm4s would automatically prioritize the device you connected with last) - Right earbud randomly doesn't turn on (have to put it back in the case and take it out repeatedly, never an issue with the XM4) Conclusion: Save your money and buy the Sennheisers or Bose Quietcomforts instead, or just spring for the older XM4s which are far better. This is a sorry excuse of a device for this price point.
