Avoid The Spectre x360 13 inch model!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I went through 2 spectres x360 13 inch and both had major heating issues. It got so hot that you could barely touch it or put it on your lap. I guess the issue here is that HP decided to put the heating vents on the bottom of the laptop and not on the sides. This means that if you use this laptop on a soft surface (bed, couch, blanket, etc) it will suffocate the laptop and will cause it to heat like crazy!! In the end, I had to return both spectres and exchange it for the Surface book 2. Best decision ever!

Great Laptop
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I just exchanged from the spectre 15 to this 13 inch. This laptop is light, fast, and beautiful!! The 15 inch model had some flexing of the casing around the mousepad area. Well, this computer does run hot. The first few hours the fan was on all the time, after updating the drivers(not from HP support Assistant) but going to the HP.com website and going to devices manager, the fan sound had decreased. also update the BIOS, i updated mine to version F22 i believe. If you also change some setting under "power Options, Advance setting, processor power management, system cooling policy" and change the cooling policy from "active" to "passive" stops the fan from coming on all the time. Passive setting lowers the CPU speed before turning on the fan also works. You can also change the display from 4k to 1080P, i dont see much difference betweel 4k and 1080p resolution. Now, watching movies at full brightness and 4k rrsolution, i was able to get 4 hrs and 41min before the battery died. i did another test with the 1080P resolution and i got about 10 hrs while at full brightness. The tunderbolt charger charges the battery 100% in about 1hr and 45min, which i think it's pretty fast. This laptop comes with 2 thunderbolt, which both will charge the machine. Remember that it does come with an Intel graphic cards, so if you wanna play some games, the 15inch with the nvidea card will be better. The intel GPU will play 4k movies with no problem. I gave this laptop 4 stars because of the heat problem and fan noise, i do believe the I7 processor is way too powerful for this thin case, the 15 inch case is thicker, so you don't feel much of the heat. I believe the vent holes are too small on this laptop. While pictures show a long vent, it is not the case, it has a 6 1/2 inch vent hole on the back, however, the actual fan vent is only 1 1/2 inch on both sides. i also noticed than when light cooling is needed, only 1 out of the two fans turn on, this could help with battery and noise. The pen is the regular 4AAAA battery one, I watched many youtube videos where it shows coming with the tilt pen and many other plugs, which is not the case. If your looking for a powerful, beautiful, and light laptop, this one if for you,

Great computer when it works.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my second specter 360. The first had a hard drive and touchpad failure after 4 months from purchase. I returned it and received a new one who's touchpad failed right out of the box. Since I had touchpad issues on the previous one, I decided to use HP's Hardware check. The touchpad failed 1 out of 2 tests that I ran. This is a brand new computer and it was, out of the box, already having some of the issues that I experienced with the previous one. This is a great computer when it works. It seems HP is using a cheap touchpad that is a poor choice for this model. My first developed issues at 4 months, this one right after set up. I would avoid this laptop and consider a Asus, Lenovo or Dell. I can see one being a fluke but twice and the same problem?

Very pretty paper weight
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This was a fantastic laptop for the first 3 months after my purchase, before it had three consecutive system fan 90b errors, meaning the cooling fan failed three times in a row despite factory repairs under warranty. I'm now waiting on unending hold for the third time with HP, hoping I'll be able to get my money back. I'm less than enthused about a replacement given the other negative reviews out there. If you get lucky and receive a unit with no flaws this a fantastic laptop. But that's playing Russian roulette, so if you're not the risk-taking type with your purchases I suggest you choose any of the perfectly reasonable alternatives to this laptop, preferably by a manufacturer with some degree of quality control and customer service..

Nice but...
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Took it home, unwrapped it, started typing and noticed a key was getting stuck. Tapped on the key a few times and it fell off! Pushed the key back on, typed some more, and it fell off again. Currently waiting 1 week for my replacement to arrive. I only had the laptop for a short time, but I can say the following: - It is a beautiful laptop. A comparable unit might be the Yoga 920(with its smaller SSD), except I can't stand the 'watch band' bling hinges. - It's super light and easy to hold. - The display is crisp and gorgeous. - It runs *HOT*. The high temps probably mean this laptop will throttle a lot and you'll never use the i7 at its full potential for very long. I wish HP wasn't having QA/build quality issues. I really want to love this laptop. I previously had an HP laptop which lasted me 9 long years but it looks like the current models aren't built to the same standards. Note that Ubuntu 17.10 seems to work great on this laptop.

Problems!!!!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchased for my son for college in late July, started having problems early October. Battery got excessively hot, laptop and LCD screen froze, trackpad stopped working. Geek Squad did service but they had to replace the motherboard, LCD screen, trackpad and battery. Only thing left to replace was the casing. This unit is a lemon and not worth the hassle of sending it away with my child. $1300 is too much to pay for junk. Would not recommend.

Fire Extinguisher Needed?
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This thing gets so hit that I thought that it was going to set my couch on Fire! There is a known glitch rhat causes the time and date to change itself all day long regardless of how many times you reset it. I'm taking this thing back to the store.

Great when it works
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love the size and maneuverability of the computer, however, It would be even more help if it didn’t freeze up so often. Whenever I open two or more programs at the same time it freeze up sometimes for five to six minute. I was advised instead the store to buy a plan and they would fix it. That’s another $200.00 plus the $1400.00 I paid for it. I would not buy it or recommend anyone to but this computer.

Was sold a defective product
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Although I was pleased with my purchase initially. I noticed that once I tried to utilize the tablet function on my laptop, it was difficult to fold in half. There was not much give and it felt as if I would break it, had I forced the laptop to fold. I realized that the hinges on the laptop were uneven and was preventing me from folding it. Took it into the store and got a new one with no hassle.

Poor manufacturing quality
||Posted . Owned for 9 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this laptop, nine months ego, I don't use it often. the laptop, charger port is already loose and the computer self adhesive rubber feet are out. The computer is beautiful that is the reason why i bought it, but spending over $1,600 on a computer that the parts are going to break down in less than one year does not worth it. Bad investment for me :(

Fast, runs and looks cool
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've had this machine for a few weeks and it's better than expected, which is a high bar as I waited 3 years for this machine to mature to a point where I'd feel comfortable purchasing it. * faster than I'll ever need, played a car racing game (Asphalt 8) and had no issues with responsiveness, worked like a tablet steering by tilting it * keyboard is excellent, none of the mentioned issues, typing has a good feel and backlighting is so extremely nice, makes typing in bed as easy as daylight * battery life is excellent, seeing 8 hours of typical active battery life based on windows battery life analysis program * active stylus is useful, especially when keyboard is folded backwards - I programmed bottom button to scroll without even having to touch the screen - pretty cool. Not needed, but a nice accessory * very light and easy to tuck under arm and go. Dark ash with gold/brass trim is very attractive * tablet mode is clunky as expected, but folded back 3/4 so main body supports unit and screen tilted at a nice angle, it's more useful as hands are free to work screen * fan almost never comes on and it's fairly quiet when it does. This is the coolest running machine I've ever owned - can barely feel heat when it's on my lap. Gen 8 processor was worth the wait IMO

mother board went bad
||Posted . Owned for more than 2 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This product should have a factory recall. The laptop shut off and would not turn back on. Of course this happens a year after the factory warranty expires. This laptop has mother board issues, if you dont believe google reviews for this laptop. Complete waste of money.

Serious issues
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The keyboard and trackpad hangs after 10 mins of usage and needs to restart. Came across technical reviews that identified same issues. Extremely disappointed. Given it to wife as I do with all gadgets that I can no longer use. With this laptop, beauty is really skin deep.

Great portable laptop, runs a bit hot
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I recently bought this laptop to use as a portable laptop that I could take with me on travel and around the house instead of using my desktop. In terms of design and style, I really like it a lot. It was designed well and has a decent amount of ports. The performance is good enough for a ultrabook/2-in-1 laptop and I do like that it comes with a stylus that I can use. The only main issues I have with this laptop is that it runs a little too hot and noisy for my liking. Especially when I'm in bed, I have to constantly worry about not blocking the fan intake on the bottom and also it gets a bit too hot to put on your lap sometimes. Other than that, I think it's an excellent product, battery life is pretty good, performance is good, and the portability is great. Only issue is the heat.

Very Fast
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is the best laptop I've owned. It was easy to setup and is lightning fast. I use it mostly for personal use but also some photo editing with Photoshop and Lightroom and it's fast in those programs too. The back lit key board is fantastic as is the response of the keys. It far out paces my Asus Zen Book, which had a keyboard that responded horrribly and was not back lit. The battery life is fabulous for a laptop this small and light which was very poor on my Zen Book. I am extremely happy with this laptop.
