You do have to take your otter box off your phone to make it fit in the jack properly. I don't know what will happen when the new chip technology goes active everywhere. The Square chip device is NOT as inexpensive. Right now it is working for the business I have. I'm happy about that

Also with the square, credit card transactions are processed immediately, not like the machine that had to be downloaded at a later time.
