Works great!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my first experience with SteelSeries so I wasn’t sure what to expect. It went from box to me using it within minutes. It connected right away to my Xbox. I have to say that even the packaging was nice. It comes with a cable to charge and also and extension one. This meets my expectations perfectly. I was surprised at how clear and great the sound is. I find that I am able to control everything I needed through the headset itself, volume, mute, etc. The dongle that comes with is a great idea! Even though I got the Xbox version, I am able to use it with my laptop and tablet and it also connects to my phone as well either using the USB or using the bluetooth. That was a nice surprise. It feels comfortable and fits our different head sizes but I also don’t usually use it for more than a couple hours at a time. Installing and using the app is very simply and provides many options. The microphone is great too and it’s easy to mute when I need privacy. It’s there when I need it and retracts when I don’t. The app is helpful showing battery time. There are many preset sounds which I don’t really have to use. I tried them out just to see how they work but not really interested in using them regularly. But my teens actually really love using the different sound options depending on the game they are using. They think it’s one of the best parts of this headset. It charges pretty quickly! It says up to 50/60 hours of battery life and I found that to be very accurate. We didn’t need to charge until about the 60 hour mark, which is actually pretty amazing!

Overall, a great headset
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Like the title says, Overall, this is a fantastic headset. But why 4 stars then. There are a couple things for me that I would like to see different. The first thing for me and the main reason I am giving 4 stars. If you look at the dongle piece, it makes a T shape. This causes the dongle to go over other ports. I have a laptop and desktop and if I use the dongle how it is, I lose access to another USB port then. I would like to see the USB-C connector at the end and have it stick straight out. Or it would be nice to see a USB-C extension cord. They provide a cord that you can plug the dongle into, but the other end is a regular USB-A plug. I would have liked either one that has a USB-C at the end as well, or maybe an adaptor. On this line though, I think it would have been great to see a splitter cord that maybe has a 5 inch or so cord for the dongle to plug into and then a longer cord for plugging into the headset to charge. I say this because the other thing for me was that I had to update the firmware and I had to have both the dongle and headset plugged into my computer. This takes up 2 USB ports to do so. All of my ports are used up except 1 USB-C. But I could not use that as said above. Lucky for me I have a USB-A to USB-C adaptor. But I feel having a splitter, I could run both thru that and only use up 1 port. I personally also like a headset with a mic that flips up and mutes and this does not do that. The software. This is also a main reason for me, however, being that it is software, they should be able to potentially do an update and make it better. Some of the things that I would like to see personally. The sonar software has default tabs, such as game, chat, media, aux and then mic. I am not sure if PC on this point or not but whenever I start my PC, it always defaults to the game one even though I have it set for media. This is not a reason for me as I am not sure if it's something with the software or my PC. However, the next point is the software. If the headset is not plugged in, the software then defaults to another playback device. This happens to be voicemeeter for me. When I turn on the headset, the software does not change to my headset but keeps it set to voicemeeter. Hopefully they can update so that it detects the headset and changes to that or at least have a pop up to ask if I want to change. Other apps I have will ask. The other part to this is that I have to manually go into each one and set it to my headset. I would like to see them add a function that I can click that allows me to select my input and output and have that change for each one but also have the option to change 1 if need, like if you are using 2 mics. But at least then I can select to change to the headset and have them all change without having to keep doing each one. Similar to above, I would like a function when I am in each tab such as game, for the equalizer that I can click on one of the dots and slide it up or down and have them all slide together. I have bad hearing and I like how some presets are but just a little low on sound and would like to just move them all up a little. The mic for instance default was super low but sounds great. It would have been great to move all of the dots at once. That said though, this headset sounds great. It comes with a ton of game presets already that seem to be pretty good. I mainly play PUBG and it has a setting for that which sounded good. But you can also go in and tweak it more to your liking. I have worn them for hours and had no issues with how they felt as well as battery life. I play a couple hours a day and more so on weekends. I am at 83% after a week. The mic sounds great but just default was low. But it was super clear. All of my other wireless headsets so far, would cut out once I got to my front room area then back on once in my kitchen. These never cut out on me. They have a mode that you can select for extended mode that gives more range but reduces the mic quality, but I never had to use that mode. I like that you can connect to BT at same time as dongle but you can only do one or the other. I hope in the future they come out with a way to do both at same time. If you want to use the app to make some changes, you have to switch to the BT mode to do so. The best future when I tested, but don't use as much as I mainly use PC, but you can connect to just about everything. Xbox, PlayStation, mobile device, steam deck, switch and PC. Those are what I have briefly connected too. You can do so with dongle or BT. Steam deck I did with dongle. Overall if you are looking to own a headset, I recommend these. Especially if you own other devices that you may game on. One thing to remember, especially on Pc, if you don't hear any sound, either chat or game, but you see the bar go up for those thru the software, double check the chatmix button on the headset or you can scroll down on the software and see where the slider is at. If it is towards the game side and you can't hear anyone chatting like in discord if you set it up that way, then you have to move the slider to the middle. Many times, even though I do not change it on purpose, somehow that button gets rotated one way or the other. Probably when I grab these, and I forget about it. I am trying to figure out why I see the bar moving, the headset is selected and yet I can't hear my game, but I can hear everyone in discord, and I can hear my system sounds etc. It's because that knob gets turned to chat.

Excellent at gaming and everything else
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. These are a pretty versatile pair of Headphones. I like that they came ready for Xbox but can work with pc and any other bluetooth device. The setup was pretty standard. Connect the headphones to the included cable and you download an app for updating the headphones and changing the sound profile. That is where this excels. It has a ton of games to preset the desired sound profile. For example Fortnite, Horizon, apex Legends, COD, etc. in addition you can quick save your 2 favorite to the headset so you can rotate them when gaming. After that the included usb-A cable to usb-C adapter is really long and I feel like they could have done better since it looks bad connected to my Xbox. Now the sound is really full and you can hear a ton more details in the game vs other headsets I have used. The battery so far has run an hour+ per day for 5 days and has not even needed a charge. They mention 60hrs and that is like once per month or more of gaming. When I connected them to my cell the music playback was awesome and sounded very detailed. Balanced bass response. The mic is just genius in that you can pull it out for use and when you’re done it slides back in. Now these can be worn for other than gaming and you don’t have the typical huge mic on one side. Finally the adjustable head strap is very comfortable for long use and the ear pads are extremely comfortable. The only cons are more color choices and the length of the cable for the Xbox. Otherwise this is an excellent gaming and other use headset.

No dropouts right next to my main router
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I buy a lot of headphones and headsets. I have way too many to count. I always require velour or mesh - something breathable - because less-porous materials like plastic or (fake) leather make my ears uncomfortable. I ordered these due to the fabric pads from the product photos. The material is cool to the touch, breathable, and the foam is very soft and squishy. Probably low-density memory foam. I had a little trouble with the Turtle Beach headset due to interference because my setup is near my main router and mesh hub. This one came with a USB dongle that I plugged into my Xbox (after putting the setting on Xbox mode), turned on the headset, and that was it. My Xbox recognized the headset, which came with enough charge for a two hour gaming session before I charged it, and every sound came through clearly. I played Helldivers 2 and the 3D effect was nice. My teammates heard me perfectly, and everything was perfect. I’d definitely recommend these due to their supreme comfort, ease of connection, and *most inportantly* they never dropped out despite being in the same spot as my PS5, which had constant audio dropouts with the Turtle Beach. Highly recommended!

Buy them now!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. These headphones are incredibly easy to set up. I would encourage anyone setting these up to connect them to the back of the Xbox versus the front port. This allows for cleaner set up. Once you have the download plug-in, it’s a matter turning on the headphones. They are ready to go. Sound quality is good and it still allows for external output to the TV if you so desire in terms of audio. Initially, I had an issue where the audio out to the TV was very garbled after installing this however installing the update on Xbox that was most recently out as of June 20 Got it to work without any problems. These are very comfortable aware and I have worn them in sessions ranging from 30 minutes to 6 hours and never felt any real discomfort. Battery life also appears to be exceptional and lasting multiple days without needing any charge. The USB-C charging on the headphones is nice as most devices have an adopted USB-C and it is easy to find a charger. If you are looking at buying these for a gift for your special someone in your life, hundred percent would recommend if you’re looking at buying them for yourself, same thing

Very Impressed
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So after getting these, I use them exclusively for my xbox gaming. These do a very good job especially with the surround sound. Call to Duty I could hear every footstep coming from the rear and it separates the all of the other surrounding sounds extremely well. These come with the charging cord but of course as is standard it seems anymore, no charging brick. Set up was very simple and I was up and running in no time. They are very lightweight and rest comfortably on the ears. Control buttons are on the back and I found that to be a nice feature. I used bluetooth to connect these and they connected quickly and had no drops with the connection. The battery is as equally impressive and lasted almost a week before I had to recharge them. When taking phone calls the sound quality drops very slightly but I had no issues hearing people or them hearing me. These are definitely good quality for the pricepoint they are set at. I am giving these 5 stars as they deliver very well on sound quality and certainly for comfort. I would recommend these for entry level and mid range gamers for sure.

Excellent Mid-Range Headset Option
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The SteelSeries Arctis Nova 5X is a very nice headset in a very affordable price range. I've owned a number of gaming headsets from multiple brands and SteelSeries has always been one of my favorites although I have generally trended towards their more expensive options. I play competitive multiplayer games although not at a competitive level but the sound quality and directional sound is quite good. Voice quality over discord using Xbox is also very good. My friends that I regularly play with said I was coming in loud and clear and so were they. Buttons are also very convenient for changing balance of game and voice sound as well as overall volume. A very nice feature of this headset is the ability to tap one button and switch between bluetooth and Xbox sound modes. I frequently will use my phone while in between rounds and being able to swap instantly is a nice feature. However, more expensive headsets will have dual audio channels playing simultaneously. That is just a feature sacrificed to be in the cost savings however. The headset is still an exceptional quality and value at it's price point. Also, very simple and easy setup. Plugged right up and worked almost instantly. Same for bluetooth sync. Very happy with SteelSeries here.

Started out good
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Nice looking headphones, sound pretty good too. I have mixed feelings about these. Spatial audio seems to be on point. But, I have mixed audio between games. First, I set them up with the app and went thru the motions pairing to my phone. I set the audio settings up for COD and proceeded to play a game or two of XDefiant. I muted my mic and the sound was great, no issues. Tonight, I went into COD and got into a XBOX party and I could barely hear anyone. I turned the right side dial all the way up and I was good to go. Once in the first game, I had no issues, sound and chat, all good. Second game, I couldnt hear anyone that well in the party, so I turned them up inside the chat volume feature. Couple of games later, same issue, couldnt hear anyone talking so I turned them off, and turned them on. This fixed the issue for one game. Overall, they sound decent and not hallow. There is a little tin can sound every now and then, but the lack of consistency with the chat features is a deal breaker and I put them back in the box. I just need something on this level to sound good and just work every time.
