It's Smash, did you think it'd be bad?

Honestly this truly is the "ultimate" Smash Bros. The menus and options are vastly improved from previous titles, making it much easier to navigate around and set up matches with specific rulesets. The classic mode has a unique experience for each fighter. Not everyone gets a great one, but there are a handful that honor the game of that fighter perfectly. Adventure Mode/Spirits is really pretty fun. It's similar to event matches from previous titles, with unique scenarios and rules for each match. Adventure has you do these fights along a set path. There are all sorts of directions and ways to go but they all end up having the same result in the end. By defeating these matches you receive a spirit, which can boost stats and provide buffs when equipped. The spirits board allows you to just pick from a list of 8 that are on a set refresh timer. In this mode, however, you cannot retry without using a consumable and you must 'play' a short timing game to unlock them. Now, if spirits and classic mode are the side dishes, it makes the gameplay a perfect steak. Hands down it is the best smash has felt since melee (probably even better). It finds the perfect balance of speed, damage, knock back, and insanity. Because of the gameplay changes, it's so easy for anyone from a first timer to a competitive player to pick up and go. And although at a competitive level it's impossible to balance a 70+ character roster perfectly, casually and even most more serious players have a chance to win the match no matter who they choose. I hope they add more fighters, stages, modes, and whatever else Sakurai thinks up in the years to come. This is my favorite game of all time bar none. Nintendo managed to create the most beautiful painting I've ever seen, and they've only just finished the frame. Go buy it

This game is so fun to play with the family. I find my son doesn’t get bored with it as theres a lot going on. He’s learning about so many of the older Nintendo characters which is fun for us too.

Timeless game! This is my favorite game out of all the switch games. The story mode has enough battles to keep you playing for weeks. My four year can even play the brawl mode with me. All ages will love.

Smash Ultimate is definitely the ultimate super smash bros game with over 70 characters, tons of stages, and lots more. It plays faster than Smash Bros for Wii U and I already like it better. Looks and plays great, and it's fun to play with friends or online.

It's smash on the switch. Compared to Brawl on the Wii this is superior. The roster is the biggest we've seen yet for Smash. The characters are well enough balanced and staged are varied and fun. Highly recommend!

    Truly Ultimate

If you've played Smash Bros. since you got the n64 version, this game shows just how much the game has evolved. I am no means a "pro" when it comes to playing Smash Bros. but this game is the best I have played since it's first iteration. Let this be a disclaimer for all the people who have never played a Smash Bros game before, this game is overwhelming and taking it all in is a task within itself. Look at it this way, you bought a Tesla on the sheer fact that it's an electric car, only to find it has so many features you have to read a manual, but when you finally grasp the aspects of the car the reward is tremendous! So my advise to you is to take in each feature, one by one, and indulge in each of it's aspects. What you will find is a deep and enriching gaming experience that captures what Nintendo is all about, and at the same time you will learn how to truly Smash... your opponent into oblivion. Like most Smash Bros. enthusiast I loved melee, and deemed it the best of the the series as Brawl ruined my favorite character (fox) and other aspects of what Smash Bros is, but when the Wii U version came out, I loved that game because it was released on the 3DS and I can play Smash Bros. where ever I want when I want and it has an interesting mix of melee and brawl. Now we have Smash Bros. Ultimate and it's on the switch, it's portable like the 3DS version, it looks amazing graphically, and it leans more towards Melee in terms of its gameplay and speed but not so much that it's hard to pick up and play. In other words, it's has the best aspects of the series in a amazing package and did I mention that the switch makes it portable :). In short, this game is a must have. There is 100's of hours of game play in a small cartridge and is worth your time to invest. Again, if you don't have time, it's portable so you can indulge when ever and where ever you want in what could possibly be, the best switch game yet!

I've played Smash since the original came out on the N64. I've always loved it and ultimate is no exception. The only thing I don't like is how many characters there are now. Variety is great and all, but at a certain point I think it gets to be too much. I'd still recommend it to anyone who loves fightng games and wants a way to entertain people at a party or game night

    Best Smash to Date

I played a lot of Project M, especially because I thought that was the most balanced both in terms of characters & mechanics. Smash ultimate is based off the Smash 4/Brawl mechanics, but definitely way more fine tuned. It took a while getting used too, but the more I played, the more I felt the mechanics were just a much more balanced, next generation smash. With 75 characters, and more in the future, on the roster, it becomes harder to equally balance all the characters. Although I do think there are a few characters that may be more op than others, I still think they did a great job balancing everyone as best as they could. What is also great is that Nintendo can now update the games in the future, thus allowing them to balance characters in the future. Thus, I feel like this will be the best smash.

Haven't played Smash since High School/early College and this feels like it did back then. Great game, lots of characters, lots of types of games, definitely recommend if you've been into Smash before or interested in checking it out.

I enjoy playing this game with the kids. We can customize the number of opponents and the kids and I can play at the same time. Sometimes it is hard to see all of the characters, especially your own, but it has endless replay value. We loved unlocking characters never knowing which one was next. Although it has taken a back seat to other games, it is still fun to randomly put this game in and see if we can unlock someone new or just claim superiority in the house. While there are move sets and skill can factor in, you can definitely win with 100% button mashing!

It’s years of content, fine-tuned mechanically and polished visually. K Rool, the Inkling, and Ridley—all of the new characters are great. Spirits are like touring a Nintendo museum... Possibly the best Smash yet.

One of the best games on the Nintendo switch. Favorite player is Link. Also have love for Kirby and Zelda. This game brings back so much nostalgia and makes me feel like a kid again at 23 years old. Its a game you could have fun by yourself and also play with your family or even kids or siblings. Definitely recommend this if you get a Nintendo switch! It id a must have.

I've been playing the super smash series since it was debuted on nintendo 64. Over the years, the game has evolved to add more characters while also removing some, this game however, every character that has appeared in the past games appear now, and there are new characters with more to come in the future. When playing the game you only start off with Kirby, so you have to unlock the rest of the characters, through world of light or classic mode. There are plenty of guides out there. The only issue I'm having currently is some controller input lagging, and the online is NOT good currently. I do enjoy the game, so I'm sticking with 5 stars. It will give you a lot of playtime between friends and family. Very enjoyable!
