It's Smash. If you have a Switch, then get it.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Smash Bros. is a very fun franchise consisting of Nintendo characters beating each other up (in a family friendly sort of way) and trying to knock each other out of the ring. It's basically extreme mascot sumo wrestling. If you already know what Smash is, then you'll know whether or not you'll like this one. And despite what some people say, this is NOT a port of the Wii U version. Every character feels a bit different, the physics feel different, many stages have been remade... it feels like a brand new Smash. It even looks a lot better than the Wii U version, which looked good to begin with. And the AI is TOUGH in this one. They feel more human than ever. With over 70 fighters and more on the way, it's an easy recommendation, and a must have for the Switch.

She’s played before, but I wanted to give her her own copy of the game for Christmas. Many characters to choose from and good fun to play with friends.

Best Smash Yet??
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This game is incredible! Easily the best Smash Bros. game since Melee for GameCube, it could potentially be even better than that. There is so much depth to this game with so many differing modes to play and such a robust cast of characters to play with. Some fighting styles have changed, which is a benefit to those just starting off so they won't be completely dominated by friends/competition since everyone has to relearn to some extent. Final smashes have been updated with new cutscenes. It really is a joy to play and very addictive! I think we have already put over 30 hours of playtime on our copy since it released last Friday... lol If I could have waited for this for Christmas it would have been the best Christmas gift possible!

Very fun to play with friends
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Super Smash Bros. Ultimate for the Nintendo Switch is a must-have for any fan of the franchise. The game features an incredible roster of characters, over 100 stages, and countless modes to choose from. The gameplay is smooth and fluid, making it an absolute joy to play. The graphics are stunning and the soundtrack is fantastic. The attention to detail is unparalleled, and the game is packed with Easter eggs and references to other Nintendo franchises.

Huge Game in a Small Package
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. As I was preparing to write this piece, I thought to myself, “where do I start?” Super Smash Bros Ultimate is such a huge game, both considered as a stand-alone game and as the climax of an unlikely 20-year franchise. The original Smash Bros game on the Nintendo 64 was a hit, but it was nothing I ever expected a sequel for. It was the first game where Mario met Kirby and Pikachu, alongside other Nintendo characters and, possibly playing against type, they beat each other up. It was modest cartoony fun, and unlike any other fighting game that came before it. Now, after sequels on the Gamecube, Wii, and 3DS, the series has grown to have nearly every Nintendo character worth noting, plus several you’ve likely never heard of, PLUS characters from non-Nintendo games, like Snake from Metal Gear, Simon from Castlevania, Sonic the Hedgehog, and even Ryu and Ken, crossing over from the more traditional fighting game Street Fighter. The game currently has 77 characters, with at least 5 more promised to be released for download later - including the Piranha Plant from the Mario series. Every character that has ever appeared in a Smash Bros game is present in Ultimate, along with nearly every stage. Despite the casual pick-up-and-play nature of the game, the Smash Bros series are the most played Nintendo games at a competitive level. Smash is played at EVO, the largest fighting game competition in the world, as well as at smaller events year-round. The games were not initially designed for the competative scene, but Nintendo has since embraced its status, sponsoring Smash Bros championship series tournaments. I’m certainly not nearly good enough to participate in these sorts of tournaments, but holding a smaller-scale tournament with my friends and family over for the holidays is much more my speed, and can be a lot of fun. After all, we’ve all been growing up with Smash Bros.

Best in the series.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. While this game functions very similar to the Wii U entry, the Ultimate moniker creates a complete entry of all combatants in the series while introducing new characters. If your a fan, BUY IT NOW!

Must Have
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is an essential game for Switch owners. At its core a fighting game, SSBU's combat system easy to learn but challenging to master. Local multi-player (up to 8) is where the game shines, but there is a variety of rewarding ways to play solo as well. These modes include a surprisingly deep adventure mode titled World of Light and a traditional classic mode, where each fighter is given a unique set of challengers to face off against. Online play is an option too, though I have not tested this offering. Packed with content, this game should prove to provide hundreds of hours of entertainment. So, if you are still on the fence about this one, what are you waiting for? Ready? Go!

Great Game with Lots of Fighters
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The good: this game fantastic graphics, fun and technical 2d fighter gameplay, great dynamic stages, and a very lengthy single player “adventure” mode that comprises of themed fights. Tons of collectable “spirits” and achievements to unlock. Even a stage builder! DLC fighters are still shaking things up. The not good: Internet play is laggy, and adventure mode isn’t super engaging once you play it a bunch. Spirits are fun to collect, but not as fun as trophies were. Overall: Definitely worth full price because of the immense amount of content you can play through, and because there are so many great unique characters.

Smash Brothers
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. One of the main reasons I purchased a Nintendo Switch aside from it's hybrid functionality is it's ease of playing with others and enjoying a variety of game experiences. Mario Kart offers such awesome experience that it's perfect for a married couple. My wife and I constantly play together when we can and truly have fun! The game itself is very colorful and runs smoothly no matter how you decide to play. It's easy to pick-up and play for newcomers or people that are not into video games yet it also offers challenging modes for veterans of the series

2nd Best Smash in Gameplay, 1st Best in Content
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. To be frank, the gameplay is a massive step up from Smash Wii U/3DS. And while it still falls short of Melee's greatness, Ultimate isn't exactly far off. However, in content, Ultimate stands tall as the best in the series, even in spite of some absent modes. Spirits, while it can overstay its welcome after a while, sucks you in when you least expect it. And the changes made to Classic Mode makes it much more engaging to do with multiple characters. The only major flaws are the online (which is better than Wii U in some areas & worse in others) & the unlockable characters (which can get annoying after a while for a cast this big). Otherwise, this game is essential for any Switch owner.

Love the characters lots of fun!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Love it and my sons obsessed! Had a similar game when I was young, I thought I was pretty good at it back in the day. My seven year old picked this up really quick and now can whoop me! Haha but it’s so much fun.

Excellent Game
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. As always, the smash games are excellent, and this one is no exception. The graphics are amazing, the characters are unbelievable, its that type of game that keeps bringing you back again and again and again. 70 characters? HECK YES!!! Absolutely satisfied. When you play this game, all i can say is, brace yourself. Only con I can attribute this game too is the fact that it made me arrive late to work. JK, actually the con is there is no homerun contest mode, however, that may be possible in future DLC, we'll have to wait and see. P.S. I didnt arrive late to work, i was fired for multiple no call no shows TOTALLY unrelated to this absolute masterpiece of a game ;)

Most fun I've had in a while
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. As someone who's really into competitive games for fun, I was getting a bit tired of Splatoon (updates didn't excite me as much anymore, feeling stale, etc.) until Smash came. I usually don't enjoy fighting games as much but Smash has a special place in my heart. It reminds me of basically my childhood, except Smash 4. Anyways, Ultimate is up to par with Melee. Actually more fun than Melee because everyone is here and more to come. Playing it Christmas Eve with my cousins brought back all the childhood memories (until you know, the heartburn came in but that's just an age thing). Honestly one of the most fun games I've played in a while, even if it was casual.

The one game every Switch owner needs.
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. For $60 you get so. much. game. I have played for 55 hours total and I still have quite a bit to go to beat the game, and MUCH more to unlock everything. They have tons of iconic Nintendo characters as fighters, and if not, then there is almost a guarantee that they are a spirit. If it's by Nintendo, it's probably here. Also very fun with friends. Sucks you need a Switch Online membership to play with friends when not close enough to each other to make a proximity connection.
