I preordered this game the minute it was announced knowing that I was going to enjoy it. Once the characters started to be revealed, it may me more excited. Nintendo has once again made a series with a bunch of different characters fun again. All my friends enjoyed it. If you liked any of the past smash games, then this is for you. If you never played this game before, all the different characters may be enough for you to spend the $60 for it. Either way I can't wait to unlock all the characters.

Great game, tons of content right from the start (wihtout the DLC). Love the 8 player battles, a lot of fun when you have friends over (keeping social distancing of course 0.0). I would recommend for all ages, just a great pick up and play, This was a major improvement from Melee which was the last one i played (I know, on the GC) Get it if you can, get it with discount or without, and best of all, get the physical before its gone.

There's so much to do and unlock in this. This is by far the best super smash bros game. There's over 70 characters in it.

This is the ULTIMATE party and fighting game! Super Smash Bros. Ultimate features over 70 colorful video game characters, from Mario, Kirby, and Pikachu to third party characters such as Sonic, Mega Man, and Pac Man! Whether you’re a fan of fighting games, or just love to have parties, this is a must have for your switch. Even if it is a multiplayer game, there is still plenty of single player content, including the spirits mode. Everyone is truly here, and this is the Ultimate game.

"Super Smash Bros. Ultimate" is a game worth its namesake–it truly is ultimate! For those new to the series, this is a 2D action/fighting game with over 70 characters spanning across several companies' franchises: Nintendo, Sega, Square/Enix, Capcom, Konami, Wayforward, and a ton of different stages to boot. Seriously, the developers spared no expense on this one. In addition to the standard Classic, Smash, and Mob Smash modes, we also get a story mode called Spirits. Spirits mode is basically a way to stretch the basic game further by adding special ability cards to the mix; you unlock them by fighting single-player matches across an overworld that looks not unlike that of Super Mario World or A Link To The Past. The only flaw to Smash Bros. Ultimate may be that there are TOO MANY characters. It takes a considerable amount of time to unlock them all, which is fine, but there are just a few too many different iterations of characters (there are 2 versions of Pit, Samus, and Mario...and 3 versions of Link!). Overall, it's a labor of love for video games in general–and not just those made by Nintendo. There's surprising cameos and remixed classic tunes waiting around every corner. Definitely another must-have for the Switch! NOTE: I recommend the Gamecube or Switch Pro controller for this one...it's kind of hard to press specific directions on command with the standard Joycon sticks.

Wether you're looking for some fun local multiplayer or enjoy the competitive aspect of the game, Super Smash Brothers Ultimate will not disappoint. One of the biggest(if not the biggest) rosters ever in a fighting game. You can show your skills with characters from Pokemon, Final Fantasy, The Persona Series, Mario, Fire Emblem, and many more. A must have for any switch owner. If you dont own a switch, do your self the favor and buy one along with Super Smash Bros Ultimate.

If you've played any other smash game and love it. You'll love this one. Many characters, and levels. Takes a while to unlock them all though. I've played every smash bros game and this one keeps the pattern going of the smash bros greatness. I am not a fighting game person, but smash bros has always been so much fun. Especially with friends. If you haven't played smash bros before, then I recommend renting it to see if it's your style of game. The fighting mechanics are simple to learn, and can take some time to master. It is more about timing rather than combo attacks like other fighting games. I bought the gamecube style controller because I hate how small the switch controllers are, and am not disappointed. The nostalgia is real. My reason for taking one star away is the online. It is ok, fun at times to play competitively online but connection issues do happen, and causes lag sometimes. Overall still fun!

Extremely fun to play. It's almost a must have if you get a switch or switch lite. Controls are a little confusing to begin with, but once you get them down, you're good to go. You can play locally by yourself or with other people using the Joycons (and buying more Joycons separately if you want to play with more than 2 people), or you can play online if you get Nintendo Switch Online (for like $20 a year). Altogether, you should get this game!

Smash Bros. is usually a must own for any Nintendo system. Ultimate is no different. It is always fun to play with friends and now you have access to every Smash character! The menu layout and function of the spirits and how you can stack them is a little confusing to me but I suppose as you play you can figure it out. Game looks brilliant and there are so many stages, it could take hours before playing the same stage twice. If you have a Switch, this is a MUST buy!

I'll admit that I'm pretty new to this series. Only played the one on the gamecube a handful a times but that's about it. I can't really compare to anything previous but I am enjoying this one and it's quite fun. Still figuring out the strategy (other than button mashing lol) to it but I can't really complain about anything about the game itself. It's cool seeing all the characters and stages they've crammed into the game. Graphics and game play is good as well.

It’s everything I have dreamed of. Plays like the original, plus the added features of the sequels and then some. Every fighter is at your disposal, but it makes you earn them in a challenging but not too difficult manner(s). Highly customizable via a very in-depth yet optional spirit function. It’s pretty heavy on characters from games you can tell Nintendo is trying to push, and the amount of spirits is wildly unnecessary, but hey: don’t use em and/or sell them.

Was about to buy Super Mario Bros when my son said this game was better. (He had played it at a cousin’s house.) Quickly, I checked online reviews and ratings confirmed it. We’ve had Smash Bros for a month and like Mario Kart Deluxe it hasn’t gotten old. Not boring especially with more players. Also, still gaining new characters with the challenges. We use it as part of game night on the weekend. Good fun!

this game has all the characters every single character that has been in the smash Bros series that have joined just for one installment is in this game. you can still create your Mii characters there is a training mode. all the music is there, every stage that has been in every smash Bros is there. that being said there are a couple of things that people might be missing, for one thing there is no target practice, break the targets, there is no land on the platform, there is no home-run contest. there's little-to-no story, story mode, was, I would say "hey" a nostalgia coaster of old characters you've seen from old installments but they're just stickers that don't add anything to the story they're just there, you don't see any actions between characters. if you seen the opening video where Kirby survives you basically seen 95% of all the videos and the game. it's it's underwhelming. the story... it's pretty bad. for some reason the Wii smash Bros added a very good story there was lots of interactions between the characters but after that installment they've never went back to that concept ever again. it's a shame too, because seeing the characters mingle with each other was a fun thing to watch. if you plan to go online on line is either hit or miss be sure to have a wired connection because I have a wired connection it and it runs well and I've only seen a few hiccups but I'm guessing that's because maybe the other side was running off Wi-Fi I don't know I just a guess. the new sticker mechanic is nothing special hand sticker mode is kind of boring. story 2 out of 10, fighting 9 out of 10, features 3 out of 10, music 10 out of 10, overall 6 out of 10. bottom line bring back story mode, an actual story like the Wii did.

What a wonderful experience. I'm terrible at competitive games, but there is so much to see and do in this game that it is a rich and complete experience regardless. Although I miss the exploration of modes like Smash Run on the 3ds, the breadth of content in World of Light mostly makes up for the omission. Love Spirits and all the goofy randomness that ensues in a battle. One of the top games on Switch, for sure....one of the top games of the last 5 years.
