Bought this complete camera system $519 out the door. Seemed like a good price and would be great for a building that was being build. The unit sat in the box for a year. When the building was ready had them installed and right away there was issues with the cheap cables supplied. Contacted Swann and they would not honor warranty. All cables are faulty. Swann customer service told me to go by a new one. They would not provide new cables for the unit. I will never purchase another Swann piece of junk. I will purchase a better engineered piece of equipment from a better quality manufacturer. THIS WAS A HUGE WASTE OF MONEY. IT WOULD HAVE COST THEM A FEW DOLLARS TO SAVE A CUSTOMER, BUT THEY DIDN'T. WILL NEVER BUY SWANN AGAIN.

Quality of the product is great but configuring it is a pain to say the least, you need support but the last time I called I was on hold for 29 minutes and 47 seconds, support is overseas but understandable.

The DVR is really loud and default password didn't work and tech couldn't fix .

Got these and got set up with geek squad to install and was told the day off install it wasn't possible with these cameras and I needed to just get a security system through a company. Thoroughly disappointed.

The hardest part of the install was the wiring. When the time comes to pluggin thing in every thing worked very well. I love it that I can see my house thru the internet. Very easy to operate.. Picture quality is great day and night.

So far the set up has been pretty straight forward. Took everything out, connected every thing up and powered up. No surprises. Connecting to and configuring the network was a no brainer. Configuring email alerts was not a problem once I used one of my own email accounts as the sending account. The G-Mail recommendation did not work. Directions for setting the trigger areas and schedules could have been clearer, I resulted to the tech support web page and everything was there. Video quality is very good to above average and the night vision exceeded my expectations. There are so many options to configure from the output display, camera resolution, color, saturation, brightness, hue, etc. as well as all the recording options, I can't believe there would be anything more I would want that they haven't given me in this kit. Downloading and installing the mobile app to my iPhone was very easy and works well, installing the software on a Mac pc was just as easy and works without issue. I would have liked one 100' cable included and a microphone as well, but both are available online and are very inexpensive. No glitches or problems so far and this should give us added peace of mind, plus it is interesting to see what goes on when your not around or if you hear a sound you didn't expect outside. Do your homework before purchasing!

Good system and the Remote viewing App for my iPhone works wonderfully. I have no complaints, except I wish the connection cords were longer. 100' seems like a long way but in reality it isn't.

Great concept and idea, the camera's are top notch and the picture quality is very good. However the hardware seems to have a QC issue. Been through 3 DVR boxes now with different types of failures. The last one after shutting down and powering up no longer had any video output and couldn't be accessed via network. Returned for another and back up and running. Best Buy warranty top notch and I would not purchase this product again without it. We also had 2 4350 units with hardware issues as well. All units needed firmware update for email to get working. Smart phone app works ok but many times need to force close as it locks up. Overall I'm kind of happy with it, the quality control however I think they need to do better at.

I have had my cameras up for almost two months. They have seen rain, wind etc.. I have had no issues with the software, or picture quality. The ONLY issue I have is, I wish they would have included a power source (cord) for the cameras. However, I went to Amazon and found the cord for the Swann cameras with 8 plugs. Other than that, the set up was easy and install is only as complicated as you want to make it. Awesome product!!!!

So I got this to replace a cheap system I had. Although the cameras have excellent video quality and it was pretty simple to setup and install, i'm sure there is better out there. -Uses proprietary mobile app that I could not get to work properly(Android). It was very slow and would never playback recorded videos the few times it did work. -There is no way to utilize any type of cloud storage. My previous system used both, and the mobile playback was fast. +The included camera wires were long enough for me to place the cameras anywhere I needed. -You have to use the supplied mouse to navigate the menu and screens on the DVR. This is a real big problem if you want to place the DVR away and hidden. -No built-in Wi-Fi adapter. This cost me more to purchase a device to get internet to this box. Mine is hidden. +I like how easy it is to mask off streets to help with false recordings. Overall it is an ok system. It just seems kinda old-school not having all the bells and whistles that you get from a software download from other companies. I will more than likely return the system and look for something that suits my needs for cloud storage and quick mobile viewing.

I really like Swann's Security Camera System. They have great notification for motion detection, and video tampering. They will send you and e-mail with a picture of the motion detected and the camera that is being tempered. The main box will also sound off to alert you of any problems. I would give it a 5 star if things could be clear when trying to get a closer view of an image/event. The clarity during the day is awesome and at night is not that good but it still allows you to see a very good distance of your property without getting blurry. The system also includes audio recording which is great although it saves more space for recording if you opt to use it.

I purchased this system 2 years ago and thought it worked great but to my surprise it had no harddrive. called swann they said send it in and we will take care of it . I got the new one and after a couple of months it started rebooting so I call them back. They are telling me that I have to pay them a nonrefundable fee to look it overand take care of the issue when it was them that sent me the defective unit. Will never buy or recommend this product ever again to anyone!!!!!

All i want to say is i am not happy with swann security cameras! As i write this i am trying to figure which system to replace it with! Live video and playback has so much lag that i cant even watch or see what is going on around my house and i have 8 cameras and they all suck!!!!

Good system for the price. I replaced a Lorex system and can say this has a pretty clear video; however, the colors were better with the Lorex. I had a horrible experience with Lorex due to their tech support and customer service. I have read numerous positive comments in regards to Swann's customer service and that's why I decided to make the switch. The only complaint I have is the mobile app. it's somewhat slow and only shows 4 out of 8 cameras at a time. So far, so good though.

These cameras are great. I have use this model in over 5 locations of mine and have no let me down. So far so good!!

I've had this system for about a year. I'm very happy with what is recorded in the daytime, or live view. But, the night views are really poor if you have no outside lights on. I live in the very rural country. There are no streetlights, and very few houses. Two camera's are on the garage pointing down the driveway. If you are VERY close, say within 15-20 feet, you can tell whom is on the camera. From 25 to 50 feet, you can tell someone is there, but you could NEVER identify them. After 50 feet, you would have to watch a recording for at least 30 seconds to tell someone is there and only then, due to movement. If standing still, totally invisible. On the flip side, one camera at the front door is perfect as it only shows things / people within 10-15 feet. Overall, I did keep the system but VERY disappointed in the night vision recordings. Like everyone else, the fan inside the DVR is VERY noisy. The Android app does show all 8 cameras, and I'm happy for that. Overall.......3 star's only.

When you make your surveillance systems accessible by the internet, you make them "hackable" by the criminals who you are doing surveillance on.I purchased a Swann surveillance system from Best Buy and it was hacked by my next-door neighbor without having a cable connected to the internet. He used wifi to "plant" a virus in my system and take control of it.

this system lets you keep an eye on things even when traveling. Real peace of mind and people do not seem to park in front of my ocean view home anymore which is an added bonus.

No install or startup instructions. There was an info card in the box that tells you to install the wrong ap on your phone. You have to call customer service to find that out. Outdated and no longer usable information links shown on their box. Customer service talks to you like you are a moron, and doing everything wrong. And in the end the unit was defective where it wouldn't even record. A camera system that does not record...

Purchased Swann Professional Security System (DVR9-4200) two years ago. Within these 2 years the IR Night Vision began to go bad (poor night vision) on all 8 cameras. According to Swann the Infra-Red LED's have an average lifespan of 10,000 hours. I called Swann to order new IR boards (approx. $5.00). I was told they do not sell this part and I would have to buy new cameras at $79.99 ea. If you need a camera that works only half the time, this is the one to get.
