A: No the cameras do not have audio the system requires separate audio mike.
Q: Is recording by motion detection or all time?
A: It can be set either way.
Q: Do you need to hook this up to an Ethernet cable or can it use WiFi to access the internet?
A: All of the low cost systems require an ethernet direct connect to your Router. This is not a wireless system. Once you have an ethernet cable running from the DVR to the Router then you can access your camera via your smart phone or PC, Laptop, using and appt, or the Swann SkyView
Q: Why is it advertised inroor/outdoor but in specifications it says only indoor?
A: The cameras can be used either indoor or outdoor. They are sealed internally to deal with the weather. I have had mine for two months. They are durable.
A: Yes you can but the supported app for iOS is really outdated and slow. The new apps for iOS does not support the DVR model 84500T
Q: What type of monitor is best for this system?
A: Any 1080p resolution monitor with hdmi connections. I personally bought a small 27" HP monitor that works great, but any brand and size will do. It comes down to personal preference. You can even connect to a flat screen television.
A: Cameras come with video and power cord that is one cord with two connectors on both ends, so u connect power to the camera next to the dvr. The power adapters has a 4way splitter to connect 4 cameras each, u will need more cables if u running more than 60 feet. My set came with 60 ft of cables for each camera, and be aware the two power adapters for the cameras take up more than one slot on power strip.
