Customers value the superior camera quality and ease of use of the 8-Channel, 8-Camera Indoor/Outdoor DVR Surveillance System. Many also appreciate the system's affordability and effective night vision capabilities. However, some customers have noted that the DVR can be quite loud. Overall, the positive feedback on image clarity and user-friendliness outweighs the negative comments regarding the DVR's noise level.

Straight forward install. More than enough cable length for most houses. The 1080p quality is a must have. It took me 2 days to have it up and running but only about 6 hours of that was actually working.

Had been looking into a home surveillance system for a while. I had it narrowed down between this Swann system and a Samsung system. I went with the Swann system because they have been around for a while and personal references to get this brand.
Install was pretty easy for me. If you arent sure you can install it, it may be worth paying for a professional installation.
Setting up the dvr was more challenging then installing the cameras and running the wire. I did end up calling customer support and had to update the software, on a brand new system.
Image quality is good, day and night. I think the Samsung system might have a little better image quality, but thats only based off a side by side comparison at Sams Club.
Overall satisfied with the purchase, wondering if I should have went with a 16 camera system but 8 does the job just fine now.
On a side note, when running the wires from the dvr to camera, make sure you are pulling the right end to the camera, ask me how I know.

Hello, i am a security officer, I have this security system all around my house, I can observe any thing that's not right. It works great , it zoom in and out for perfect clarity. My wife and I feel very safe now, even though we have ADT . When I'm away from my home I can see my house on my Smart Phone. Thank You Best Buy for every thing. I will continue to shop here.

this item upon opening box was that's a lot of cords. would be nice to have a few smaller cords added into the box. since some of my areas were close to the recorder. Took a little assistance to get set up from a friend due to instructions misunderstanding.. Had her call the customer service to walk her thru it. Works awesome after all set up. Customer service was awesome. mines set up for motion only which shows a timeline of when action was picked up. does always pick up a distance far away . but works great for what it does pick up. best part is that I can view it on my phone no matter where I go. this helps check up on the dogs while im at work. This is since I have a few inside the house where the like to lay down. took me getting used to having a camera in the house though. felt like a tv star getting recorded . after I got used to it I was happy and relaxed to know my place is 110 percent safe.

This system has 8 1080P cameras so I had to manually run a lot of wires in the attic. Each of the 8 cables has a BNC cable and a power cable. Resolution is pretty good and I was surprised that the night vision was pretty good.
The setup sheets are enough to get the system running but to fully learn the system, you will have to study the manuals which are available on the Web.
The IOS software for my iPhone is not very good. Not much capability and no chance to monitor all 8 cameras at the same time. The remote PC software is very good and for the most part mirrors the DVR software which is viewed on an external TV.
Here is what I wanted in a system. When my ADT alarm goes off the monitoring station calls me and I want to see if a break in occurred before calling the Police. Even the IOS software fulfils that goal.
As a bonus when I leave on a trip I can set some or all of the cameras motion detectors to send me an e-mail automatically with still pictures of the intruders. More than likely the pictures will arrive on my iPhone before the ADT monitors notify me. It is very fast.
I installed the DVR in a closet near the ceiling so it would be out of the way and hard for intruders to find it. It is also in a locked room.
I am still learning about the system. I did not have to call the help lines
The DVR makes a noise that is probably from an internal fan. It would bother me except I have it tucked away in a closet so I can barely hear it now. The noise is much greater than my Dish DVR.

Easy install, great picture and just enough cameras to get every nook and cranny covered. Went from no info on what's happening to knowing it before I was told.

We purchased the cameras because we live in a remote area and we have had several items stolen from around our house. We can now see and record everything that goes on. The picture quality is very good and it has several nice features. I think it was a good buy and we feel safer now that we know what is going on around our house. The night vision is good enough to see everything day or night.

After looking at many survaillance systems we settled with the Swann. The 24 hour customer service is great! My system was making a loud noise until the beep was turned off. The app works great, picture quality is clear. Play back is equally clear. I wish that I could zoom clloser to read a license plates. Over all we are happy with the Swann Securty System.

The quality of video is awesome. The interface is very easy to use. It was easy to install. I am having problems within the app, but I haven't called the 1-800# so I can't really bad mouth it. It works great in all light, except direct and it records after motion is detected so you can quickly see who has been around.

The quality of the cameras are sharp and clear to view. The night feature is very easy to see and detect any moment in view of the cameras. I am still learning about all of the features that the system is capable of doing for me. This has given me more sense of security at my home.

I hate having the cords running everywhere but was easy to hook up only took a few hours but then I ran the cords around the walls of the house which I am going to change later... We looked at wireless ones but we are in a rural area and the internet is bad to say the least, so they didn't work . You can hook this one up to internet but haven't used that yet... easy set up easy install works great

This Swann security system is a great option over paid security monitor companies. I chose to buy and install my own camera system to avoid recurring monthly fees and the possibility of some unknown person viewing my cameras at anytime. It comes with 8 - 1080p cameras that have great resolution in both day and night. The install was pretty straight forward as all the connections are plug and play. The most difficult part was running the cables into and thru the attic space. I opted for the hardwire install over wireless to avoid any video feed interruptions due to wireless interference or loss of wifi. The dvr is great and continuously records as long as there is motion in your preset diameters. You can also set up email or SMS alerts if a camera detects motion. The dvr records up to 20 days of intermittent video but continues to recycle once it uses all storage but keeps recordings until it needs space for more video. I love this feature because I can go back and review footage from weeks ago if need be. You can also export video clips to an exteral storage device. On top of the dvr, the Swann app allows you to view your cameras from anywhere on your phone, laptop, or tablet. You can also review footage from these devices and take snapshots that save directly to your photo album. It is overall a great system and I definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a reasonably priced system that you can install and monitor yourself.

We bought this recently based on the HD quality and the number of cameras we wanted (5, which limited the use of a 4-camera kit). I understand that there is an expectation that this is plug & play, but trying to configure the system wasn't clear and easy. I like the picture quality, and it just works, plus I can check it over the internet, but it's hard to configure - I was glad that I have some computer skills. Plus, it's not very Mac friendly at all; an update to use HTML5 would be ideal. I would probably not get this going forward had this been more clear to me.

I decided to purchase the system after my wife and sons cars were broken into. The system is basically plug-and-play. Running the wires was the most difficult part of the entire install. The picture quality is great and may take a little bit of adjusting to your personal taste. As long as you take your time to adjust the motion sensor for recording the system should handle your basic needs for monitoring and security.

Very good cameras and very easy to use. You can even have it to send you an email when someone approaches your property and it will send you the video image. You get to select the area that you want it to cover or not. You can also have the sound go off when someone approaches the areas that you are protecting in your property. Yes, you can have it record all day non-stop or you can have it to only record movement, or you can select the days and hours that you want the cameras to record. You can have different settings for each individual camera. It gets a good distance and its very clear and lovely colors when day time. during night it will record only in black and white but it will be a clear image of a person if they are no more than 25 feet away from camera. You will still be able to see movement and people farther than the 25 ft from the camera but it will not let you see the face super duper clear. Now you can add a reflector as I did next to the camera and it will record as if it were daytime with color so you can tell how people look like form a far distance at night.

We bought this system to have some peace of mind. The system was easy to install and is easy to use. Even though it's black-n-white the images are clear and easy to see. We feel a little more secure knowing that we can monitor things if we're home or away

I shopped around for home surveillance systems for weeks before purchasing this set. I originally had a price range of a couple hundred bucks but reluctantly chose this set because of the positive reviews and the HD cameras. I'm VERY glad I spent the extra money. Install was very simple, picture quality is awesome, and use of system is very user friendly. Love the remote access on the cell phone. Night time quality is good too. Would highly recommend!
