    The Swann product is junk. I've owned this for a year now and it is severely flawed. For one, the software is too sensitive so it goes off every time a bug flies by or the wind blows. There is a slider in the software to adjust the sensitivity, but that seems to have no impact at all. I called Swann up and they confirmed that it doesn't do anything at all. They planned to write code to enable that functionality "someday in the future" Another issue is that the company assumed that you will have a dedicate monitor connected to the box in order to control basic functions like changing the time. Yes, you can access and view the cameras on your phone or over the Internet. However, in my case, I mounted this controller box on the wall in my garage. If I need to change the time, I have to unmount the box, connect it to a monitor and mouse and then restart it. This is far to much work for simple changes that you should be able to make straight from your computer. This software sucks and was made off-shore in the middle east. That's why you see middle eastern maps in their user guide as examples. They just don't understand the US market. You should consider other brands. I will not waste my money with Swann again.

    Mysterious Malfunctions

    Since the day I installed it, the system had first one, then two cameras that failed sporadically. Tech support guided me through steps but the issues persisted. Several months of replacing splitters, adapters and cameras yielded no positive results. Finally, the DVR itself was replaced, but the same two cameras failed! Tech Support and Customer Support did their best, but I had to bring the unit back to the store and replace it with another brand.

    I purchased the swann pro series eight camera pro series. after installing all the cameras and equipment I discovered one camera which only produced black and white with no color. I reached out to swann customer service and the headache started. they wanted the serial number of the faulty camera. Note.. camera is mounted under the eve approx. 18 feet high. I acquired the number with the receipt and forwarded. I was given instructions to send the unit back at my expense. I explained it is a brand new system why should I pay for shipping and insurance to return their defective camera. The cost would be more than the price of the camera. I have never heard back from swann.. My advice is look for another company because clearly swann does not offer a full warranty without some expense on the consumer.

    Dont Buy, Horrible System

    Save yourself time and heartache and don't buy this system. My Arlo camera system died after almost 2 years and I wanted more cameras without paying monthly. Best buy tech recommended this Swann system but it is terrible. App hasn't been updated in 3 years so the zoom feature it shows doesn't work and you can't make any adjustment to your settings thru the app. If you not tech savvy setting up the cameras is also a pain.
