I am flabbergasted that some reviews say that the remote is easy. The remote is the smallest, most confusing, most complicated, worst lay-out remote of the several that I have had, The buttons are so small that it is easy to make a mistake. Many of them are just not needed for reasonable use. Also, when it starts, the process long and complicated. Why there is that round control on the front of the unit is baffling. Before you buy, hold and look for yourself at the remote, and look at pages 3-9 on the instruction manual. If you can understand page 7, you deserve a medal.

Installed a week after purchasing and it worked fine Did not use it again until January 1st (1 month & 3 days after purchasing, upon turning unit on it sounded like a jet aircraft engine starting up and after about 10 seconds it would shut off Thank goodness I bought 2 because I swapped the other new one in and as of now it works OK (as did the 1st one I installed) time will tell if I have better luck with the second one I am returning the 1st unit for a cash refund Would not recommend this Sylvania DVD player to anyone

Worked for about two weeks and then failed to operate certain keys on the remote and had to go to the unit to eject DVD's. Unilt will be returned to Best Buy this week.

It's alright, except there is no play button on the player so you have to use the remote if you want to play anything. It did not come with an HD cord to connect it to tv.

This DVD player stopped working after one month....and it was only used it a few times! I thought the price was too good to be true...and unfortunately I was right.

This is garbage. With no apparent defects visible, I inserted a DVD of a type acceptable to the unit. After hearing a few clicks as the screen indicated "loading", it displayed "no disc". Same result in trying 3 different known good discs. Most likely the read head transport mechanism is defective, or maybe it cannot 'see' a disc. Either way, it's going back to BB and I will not buy another. Recommend you save your money for something else.

The price for this simple basic DVD player, which remember doesn't even come with a cord...was still too much. Its a poorly made item that if it stays available for purchase, should be made much much cheaper. Its good enough for its basic use but it runs loud, sensitive remote and DVD response and again not worth its price.

I purchased 3 of the DVD players,The first one wouldn't work. The door would open and close continuously.And Yes I tried different DVDs upside down and right side up. The second DVD player worked but skipped and stopped and skipped again. Any vibration would also make it stop.I treed different DVDs, The third I want even bother opening, All the DVDs work perfectly in My Panasonic player. Pay a little more and have something that works.

We bought this 3 months ago. It started skipping the first time we used it, but just figured it was the dvd. We tried to watch 2 brand new movies over the last couple of weeks and the dvd player is getting worse and worse at skipping but it's too late to return it now.

Bought 2 as Christmas gifts and one turned on and worked for about 2 minutes before shutting off on it's own then couldn't even get it to power up to get my kids disc out. The second one when we opened it to insert disc made a weird sound and was shaking. We didnt even put a disc in it. Total waste of money. Total disappointment and now one very annoyed mother who has to go to Best Buy the day after Christmas to return these pieces of junk. Do not waste your time and money.

I bought 2, one of me and one for my mom. They like to start skipping with every dvd. I ended up just throwing them away and using my playstation to watch movies.

The remote is very poorly made. It is hard to push the buttons to make changes or turn it on or off. Poor workmanship. Very disappointing

Out of the box this dvd player hangs on every disc i try on it. It has to be manually directed to go to the main menu or it'll just black screen after previews. Forget about pushing playall for tv shows, I'm lucky if it makes it through an entire episode, and I'll have to open and close the disc tray to get it to go to back to the main menu if I want to see the next episode. Utterly broken.

I purchased 2 of these dvd players. One for my 8 year old and one for our family room. Neither would play a disc. They would spin the disc and start to play only to stop and give notification "no disc". Tried returning to Best Buy only to be told to contact the manufacturer. I still have 2 that do not work!

It was very hard to see the buttons.. It was also difficult to see the buttons on the remote control. I would recommend getting a different one

Setup was easy enough. The problem was directly after 1st use, the tray started opening and closing repeatedly on it's own. Unplugged, and tried again. Same thing happened. I actually saw this issue in another review, but thought it was a fluke. Well it happened to me as well. returned for refund.

Wanted to love it but...I bought this because I wanted the cheapest DVD player I could get with an HDMI connection. I found one with this Sylvania but it would not play the movie without stopping, skipping, sputtering...Tried a couple of different DVDs but it did the same thing with every disc I tried. Returned it and moved up to a slightly more expensive Sony model.

I had the DVD player for about 2 weeks when the picture started to become pixelly and it then is would start to skip. I cleaned the discs and it still continued to happen. I was not able to return it because I was outside the 15 day window. I didn’t even use the DVD player 5 times. Don’t waste your money on this product.

The remote is flimsy and the buttons are terrible. It takes multiple tries to get a button to work.

not as good as the dvd with hmdi connect. hard to see elements on remote. not good for senior citizens...
