Amazing Gaming Experience
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Wow . . . I have been a gamer for over 20 years, and this is one of the best overall gaming experiences I have ever had. I played this game when it was released on the PS3, and I liked it so much that I bought it for the PS4 as well. The graphical upgrade is nice, and the game controls just as smoothly as before. The shooting mechanics can be a little shaky at times, but I think that this was incorporated into the game by design to enhance the tension. The characters you control are regular folks trying to survive a post-apocalyptic world and not trained soldiers, after all. You should not expect a Call of Duty type of experience, which would lessen the impact of this game. In my opinion, the most impressive feature of this game is the masterfully crafted storyline. Veteran game developer Naughty Dog has a real gift for making the player genuinely care about all the characters involved. The stars of the show are Joel and Ellie, and you play as both during the game. Joel is a somewhat broken, middle-aged man who is haunted by memories of his life before civilization ended. Ellie is a teenage girl who has never known anything other than the dystopian world in which the game is set. Throughout their 10+ hour journey, the pair evolve from reluctant allies thrown together by circumstance to an inseparable duo who genuinely care for one another. Their struggles and triumphs are brought to life by the excellent voice work from Troy Baker and Ashley Johnson. Along the way, they encounter many colorful characters, friend and foe, living and dead. The game has a perfect mixture of exciting action moments and quiet moments of reflection and exploration. There are moments that will genuinely frighten you and make your heart race, but these are balanced by moments of beauty and peace (as peaceful as one can be in such an environment). The crafting system brings a sense of realism to the game, as it allows you to scavenge supplies to create makeshift weapons and health kits. Ammo is scarce, so you must plan your encounters with enemies carefully. Stealth is often the best way to approach situations, especially when there are clickers around. Overall, I believe that every gamer owes it to him/herself to experience The Last of Us. It is a game that will make you think, make you feel, and have a great deal of fun as well. I know that many people debate whether video games are art. I would contend that The Last of Us is the single greatest piece of evidence that video games are indeed a legitimate form of art. The emotional impact it has on the player is equal to or greater than any big-screen blockbuster, TV show, or novel. At $20, this game is a steal. Anyone who owns a PS4 has no excuse not to own this game.

Great story and gameplay
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great story and gameplay The Last of Us Remastered runs smoothly on PS4 and still looks very good. The story is engaging, and the gameplay feels balanced and immersive. A solid game that’s worth playing, especially at the PlayStation Hits price.

Excellent game from Naughty Dog
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I finally got to play this after getting a Playstation 4 Pro recently. I am/was a Xbox owner for some time and hadn't had a Playstation since Playstation 2 so I am going back and playing some of the excellent games that I had missed. This being one of them! Naughty Dog, who also makes the Uncharted series, has done it again with this fantastic game. I am not sure how the original looked but the remastered version looks great. Controls are pretty solid but could use some more tweaking/changes to make it perfect. Also, like with all their games the story is top notch and this is coming from someone who rarely cares about a games story. I thought this was going to be a Uncharted clone in how the game is structured but it is different than I expected. The added a few more RPG like elements such as crafting and player upgrades. I am almost halfway through the game and I am really enjoying it. I think it may start to drag towards the end since I don't see it getting much more varied in terms of combat and such but I am looking forward to see how the rest of the story unfolds. I can't see much replay value but at the cheap price it is at now it is well worth at least one play through.

Great product and excellent service
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I played this game back on PlayStation 3 and WOW!!! I have never thought or imagined a game could be more than just a game. This should definitely go in the history books of greatest game of all time as it still got everyone talking about it. The game has everything you could possibly imagine the incredible story filled with emotions and chills as you progress fighting and surviving your way makes it even more amazing that it isn't just another shooter or fighter game but it is a game that every move you make has a ripple effect. Joel and Ellie at first were 2 characters so different from each other but that blend together nailed it! I don't want to say much and spoil for those who haven't yet played the game (I don't know why you still haven't played it by now) but You get the feel of lost for Joel and the feel of family for Ellie which makes you get emotionally attached to both of them. The graphics on PS3 was the best and absolutely breathtaking of what the console could achieve in its time for the game but switch to PS4 and you will really see the amount of detail and stunning power of the current console has to offer for this game which already has been already the best on PS3. The game is a real survival game where nothing is just as simple and rationing is key to your survival and also when to use certain weapons for certain enemies made it more exciting as the decision rests on you. The fights are incredibly the best! From being able to use almost anything you can get your hands on whether it's bricks, steel pipes or good old gun fire power you always have a smile on your face after it. What I can say you can't enjoy the Part 2 without getting to experience Part 1 and form the bond with Joel and Ellie and Part 2 has got everyone on edge waiting for it. Naughty Dog has made an amazing game Thank you! and I don't think another one is yet to top this game by far!

A great game among great games
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I played the Last Of Us and from start to finish and was impressed with the gameplay and the story. Most game companies don't invest this much in the story but this game had movie like story elements that drive the player to continue playing. The graphics are great but I would say they are the new norm for AAA games these days. The music is eerie and sets a great atmosphere. One thing that gives the age of this game away is the fact that you can't jump. I found that odd in this day and age but it isn't 100% necessary. You can jump/ hurdle over objects in your way but that's it. I spent about 30 hours on my play through and felt like the games is totally worth the price. I paid $10 for it when it went on sale. Wanted to get this in before playing the new one. Great game even if it were full price. I hear the new one is just as good. Definitely play this on PS4 before the new generation of consoles come out.

didn't know I had feelings
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a mature game not in the senseless violence, blood or nudity sort of way. Its mature in terms of characters and their growth, the dialog, the worlds brutality. It has the violence and blood, but in this game it feels right. It makes the player feel how real it can get if this were to really happen. The gameplay is very tense, especially on the higher difficulties. This version comes with the higher difficulties unlocked. I recommend starting on hard, the enemy doesn't get any better, the difficulty comes from getting less items to help you. The story is like many others in gaming, the way the story is told is what makes this game special. It doesn't hold your hand when telling the story, it doesn't come right out and say everything, but it gives you enough to make you understand what its talking about. For those who weren't able to play it last year because they only had a 360, Sony has given you another chance to play it.

Definitely what I was looking for
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Been out of gaming since my child's birth 5 years ago, so I was looking for something along the lines of my older games. I got this on sale and figured why not. Took it home and played on the new tv. Glad I got it. The graphics are great, cut scenes are vivid and no lag. Reminiscent of Resident Evil, I fell in love with it. I've played all Resident Evil games as well as so many other survivor horror games and this one was quite a bit of fun. The action is decent, and the game is not so hard that I had to play weeks to get a good outcome. Glad to see the second one is available, as I plan to get it also.

A Must Own Experience
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is, hands down, one of the greatest experiences I've had this generation. Story The Last of Us (TLOU) cinematic story telling can rival any movie and exceeds all expectations of a video game. It's difficult to put into words how amazing this video game is since I'm still in awe at what I just completed. This is just another zombie game, right? Wrong, this is the best story that has been written in a post-apocalyptic, zombie infested world. It has a fresh and unique take on what the world is like after society collapses which is both desperate and wondrous. This adaption is welcome in a genre that is becoming quite bloated over the past fifteen years. The dialogue exchange throughout the game develops both the main characters as well as those you briefly interact with. You become emotionally invested in this video game within the first three minutes and that emotion grows as you move through the game. The voice acting is top notch and delivers the dialogue wonderfully as the characters feel like real people. The writing is pitch-perfect and does wonders for the character development. You feel yourself rooting for Joel and Ellie because you have fallen in love with them. You are attached. You want them to succeed and survive at all costs. The entire time you find yourself struggling to be optimistic and a positive ending seems bleak. The trials you face are intense and the environment projects a sense of hopelessness. The ending is both sad, and fully satisfying. Gameplay It's awesome. You're never too powerful. You will find yourself wisely using your ammunition and strategically dispatching your foes just to survive. Going in guns blazing? Good luck with that! You have to play somewhat smart and patiently or you will wind up frustrated. The strategy makes your efforts much more fulfilling when you successfully pass a difficult area. It also makes you appreciate the slow parts of the game when you are simply taking in the atmosphere. The quiet times are a welcome break and you are fearful of any encounters that may come because you are susceptible to death easily. The combat is rewarding. The headshots are not easy, especially with a bow. Remaining in stealth is extremely trying as both humans and zombies path all around you. Each stealth kill performed puts you in potential danger and you feel that urgency. I cannot wait to play this again on a harder difficulty because "normal" was challenging and rewarding. The escalation in the challenge will correlate with the sense of reward. Graphics The environment of this game is beautiful, even the areas that are eerie. The level design is so well done. It's a linear game, but most of the time it doesn't feel like it. The game smartly paths you where you need to go, but at the same time you feel like you have a choice to go somewhere else if you wanted to. The deteriorating environment makes the funneled travel believable, and it's also gorgeous. The level of detail in this game is insane! The environment, although having a sense of death and rot, is brilliant with life. This is easily the best level design I've ever seen in a game. It's a linear game that feels like an open world that you are just trapped in and you are trying to get out. Overall I heard all the praise this game received, having not played it for the PS3. I heard all of the hype. Even with these absurdly high expectations I had for this game, it did not disappoint one bit. I had no idea anything like this was even possible! Naughty dog has raised the bar, not only for video games, but entertainment in general. I anticipate nothing more than this game's sequel and movie. If you are a gamer, you have to own this game. If you like post-apocalyptic scenarios, you have to play this game or watch someone else play it. The story is so good it needs to be experienced any way possible. I cannot recommend another game as highly as I recommend The Last of Us and I've played a ton of games.

Best. Game. Ever. Period.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I won't waste your time or mine, you need this game. In fact I would classify TLOU as more of an experience than a game. It is moving, terrifying, heart wrenching, and will have you calling out of work to finish it. This game is THE reason many people picked up a Playstation. I can't believe TLOU remastered can be picked up for 19.99 now. It is the biggest no brainer in the history of the earth. Maybe I'll pick up a few more sealed copies and stick them away for a few decades because this game has staying power.

The PS3's swan song is even better on PS4.
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I first played The Last of Us when it released on the PS3 several years ago. This PS4 remaster improves on the original release in a number of ways: - It includes the Left Behind chapter, which was a separate paid download for the PS3 version. - The visual quality is greatly enhanced, as it runs on any PS4 at 1080P at 60 frames per second (compared to 720P and 30FPS on PS3). The texture detail and model quality are also higher. The PS4 Pro has the added options of either running the game at 1800P with the same level of detail, or 1080P with sharper shadows and fewer framerate drops. No matter what resolution you select, you also have the option to cap the framerate to 30FPS. Personally, I do not suggest enabling this. - There is an extra difficulty mode that hides the HUD. - The DualShock 4's lightbar changes color depending on the your character's health. A minor change you aren't likely to notice, but it's there. Aside from the above, the game is the same as it was before. You'll still be sneaking around, scrounging for items, and getting into fights with human or infected enemies. The game can be quite stingy with ammo, so you're encouraged to avoid direct conflict as much as possible to conserve resources. As you progress, you'll find new weapons and craftable items which will increase the number of ways you can handle certain problems, but only slightly. The gameplay is still just as linear as it was on PS3, and has aged poorly in some respects, but the story has aged very little by comparison. This alone makes it worth playing through at least once.

Masterpiece!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This game has everything you could hope for with a superb story, great interaction between the characters, plenty of action, excellent graphics and sound, game length is long and areas are large. If you like action/horror/survival games, then this is the one to get. The only minor quibble is that the indoor scenes in the beginning are dark but can be remedied with some adjustments on the TV. All in all, a must-have for your PS4 collection. I can't wait until the next one comes out in February!

A Game for the Ages
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Last of Us ranks among the best games ever made. There I said it. One of the enduring challenges of videogames is creating strong emotional bonds with the characters in our televisions and monitors. Throughout gaming’s early days, our motivation to care about these characters was to provide a very simple “rescue the princess” or “save the world” archetype. Rare is the game that takes what we know and manages to recontextualize and spin these tropes into something fresh. The Last of Us is one of these games. It is 2033, twenty years after the outbreak of a virulent strain of Cordyceps which can turn humans into shambling husks known as the Infected. Humanity is barely surviving thanks to the iron grip of the military’s quarantine zones. Enter Joel, a weary veteran of this dark world. He is asked by a resistance group called the Fireflies to take a girl named Ellie across the country as a favor, and throughout the game’s fifteen hour campaign, they bond together in slow subtle ways as the journey takes the better part of a year from start to finish. Smart writing and exceptional voice acting from Troy Baker and Ashley Johnson really sells the two characters. Naughty Dog’s presence is also felt in the gameplay, which takes many cues from the Uncharted series with third person shooting. However, Joel is quite unlike Nathan Drake, in that he cannot fire from the hip, and is quite slow and lumbering. An excellent stealth mechanic and simple yet effective crafting system round out the gameplay mechanics. Joel and Ellie will contend with both Infected and other humans in their adventure across America. Stealth here is paramount as ammunition is scarce, but Joel has an edge with a listen mode that allows him to hear the enemies at a distance. In the unlockable Survivor difficulty, this mode is turned off. An unfortunate concession to gameplay flow is that Ellie or other allied NPCs will not be detected by enemies, which can break immersion at times. The Last of Us shines in the visual department with amazing lighting and particle effects. Character models are highly detailed, and water flows realistically. Bucking the trend of brown zombie games, Naughty Dog opted to show plants and foliage slowly reclaiming the world with shades of green saturating the screen. It’s an absolute marvel that such graphics were able to happen on seven-year old hardware. What is most impressive is that the story combined with the very refined gameplay result in an absolutely unforgettable game. There are almost no weak parts in the story and the pacing is spot on. The Last of Us is a transcendent experience that masterfully mixes a strong story with tense gameplay. It is, without a doubt, the very best game I have ever played.

Very good game
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is one of the best single player games I have played in a long time. Very well fleshed out story intertwined with the game play. You get to watch the cut scenes without them feeling long and unnecessary, and they move the game along nicely. The lack of ammo and supplies means you have to think, rather than just run and gun. Highly recommended for anyone who likes a good story to go along with the game. The graphics are fairly impressive on this remastered version also.

Best game I’ve ever played
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The campaign... the story TLOU tells us is something so touching that it will have you experiencing every God given emotion you can possibly think of from beginning to the end. The DLC included is a amazing side story with the same emotional dynamics as the main story packed all in a short extension of the campaign. “Factions” The on-line portion of this game is the best competitive multiplayer I have ever played. I know I’m just your average consumer but understandably take my words serious when I say ”the shooting and fighting mechanics/gameplay is the most fluid and smooth (bottom line the best) gameplay I have ever experienced”. When you play this game it will feel like a breath of fresh air in reference to all the new experiences you are about to embrace. EVERY aspect of this remastered edition is through the roof remarkable. As contradicting as this may sound, do not listen to people’s reviews including mine and please pick up this game with zero expectations and just discover/experience everything you could dream of in an RPG for yourself! Thankfully, we as gamers are blessed with a part 2 being released very soon. Do not make the mistake of never trying this game because of whatever excuses/biases you may have. I bought a PS4 in 2015 and this game was apart of the bundle as a digital copy and at the time I never heard of this title before. Now, as you can see this game means so much to me that I had to own a physical copy to remind myself of all the joy a video game can bring and simply have this in my collection with me forever. Pick up this game.... You’ll thank me later!

||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have always heard from friends how much of incredible game The Last of Us is. But never got into it because I have always been a Xbox person. After playing this for a few weeks, I can see why it's so liked. The story is great, the graphics are beautiful, and the overall presentation is superb. The only thing that I had an issue with was the controls. It took me a little bit of time to get used to them. Otherwise, a fabulous game.
