While computers with 4K displays wouldn't generally be recommended for gaming use, the Core i7 processor, 12GB of RAM, and 1TB hard disk configuration of this model can be expected to deliver very good performance for all but the most demanding of applications.
Since you mention that the laptop shuts down unexpectedly, unfortunately, it's possible that your unit is defective. I recommend contacting Toshiba support at 800-457-7777 for troubleshooting help and, if needed, to make warranty repair arrangements.

||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.The first time I powered up the computer and began the initial setup I reached the end and the screen display read "wait this will take jus a moment". 26 hours later it still read the same message. I called toshiba and they were able to reboot and reinstall everything, but that took an additional 24 hours. Now it works great and the display looks amazing.

It reminds me of a 1990's klunker. Not worth your money, especially with the newer models out there. I'm going to return this system after I have the Geek Squad look at it. I love the display but the speed is so bad as to stop you in your tracks.

You're right to expect outstanding performance from this configuration with a Core i7 processor, 12GB or RAM, and a 1TB hard disk. Depending on how new the unit is, I wonder if Windows Update has been busy downloading and installing updates. That's typically the case with brand new systems, and if so it will tax initial performance until the updating process is completed.
If all updates have been installed and the performance still doesn't seem to match up with the specifications, please contact Toshiba support at 800-457-7777 for troubleshooting help.
