A: Thanks for your question, Anthonie. There is no difference between these two models because they have the same model number. Please check your question and make sure you referring to the correct models.
A: Yes, takes a bit finesse but there are two memory sockets inside. So you can place 2 chips of your choice there. Unscrew all the bottom screws, then very gently ply open the bottom cover with the help of a credit card. The bottom cover is just held by plastic snaps to the body once the screens are all removed. Then, you can replace hard drive, memory, and even battery if you need to service it yourself. I wouldn't say these are meant to be user serviceable items, but they are hobbyist or expert-user doable items. Of course, know your capability and do so at your own risk.
Q: Is this a SSD hard drive or a HDD one?
A: For sure, my model (p55w-c5316) contains a 1 terabyte HDD. You can hear it lightly tracking on the right side. If you are elderly or have significant hearing damage, it is possible that you may not be able to hear it.
A: Hi Jake! Most people would rather have a thinner and lighter laptop than a disk drive they maybe use once a year. If you need one I'd recommend still going with a thin laptop you will like and then using a external USB DVD or Blu-ray drive when you need it.

A: Yea you can find them, look on eBay though. Search for model number and HDD ribbon cable. Happen to have mine out right now, the FOX pn is 151006. Thor # is 1423-006c00 if that is helpful
