There are several walls in between. Sometimes the service would be slow and sometimes it would drop. I put the TP-Link in about the middle of the house and that cleared up the problems.

I almost think I would rather have wifi that's great in some parts of my room and not as good in others than have a consistently good connection that's super slow, makes my video chats freeze and lag terribly, takes forever to load things.

Thank you for your review. Please bear in mind WiFi extenders utilize half-duplex transmission. As a result, throughput when connecting to the extender may be reduced when compared to the router. This is an industry standard for WiFi extenders and is not exclusive to TP-Link.
In your case, we recommend relocating the unit to a position in your home where the router's WiFi signal is sufficiently strong; yet far enough from the router to effectively extend its range. Please verify the RE status LED is indicating a solid connection.

||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had a signal in my room but some of my devices were not picking up the signal or some were working slow I added this little device right in my room and it boosted all of my devices to picking up an acceptable wifi connection The speeds doubled in my computer and I can now stream on my blu ray player I had other options such as running a cable and buying a router but this was more convinient

It does work! Now, I can do internet intensive tasks even on my spare room/office a floor away from the main router. Plug and follow the instructions and you should be good.
