Extensions broke after a year and a half or so

Headphones sound good. Battery lasts a long time. However, the extensions that make the headset fit a bigger head broke and the headphones will not hold up against my ears anymore. I have a big head. The headset works fine with the extensions put away, but then the muffs don't reach my ears. I am not one that keeps receipts, but you might want to on these. I don't remember when I bought them, but I'd guess it's been about a year and a half. They cost a lot to be replacing them every year or two. I won't be buying these again.

Starting off in standard stereo mode, the 500P delivers clear, enjoyable audio that works up to a reasonable range of around 5m (though walls will reduce this). The sound signature is typical of a gaming headset with fairly prominent bass and slightly boosted treble but it’s not totally overdone, making the headset still suitable for a wide variety of listening. They use a closed back design, which in theory should mean they block out a reasonable amount of external noise – especially with that tight seal they provide. However, noise reduction is fairly minimal so they’re not quite so suited as we’d hoped for use while out and about, though at least fellow passengers will be happy you’re not leaking your music out onto the train/bus like you would with open back headphones. Playing around with the different audio profiles, they all do as you’d expect, with the vocal boost actually doing a surprisingly good job of bringing voices to the fore. Overall, though, we felt there was plenty enough bass already in the Natural sound profile that none of the other bass boosting profiles were needed. As for surround sound, we’ve previously been rather impressed by Turtle Beach’s virtual surround offerings but here we were less so. There simply didn’t seem to be quite the same sense of space as on the Z300 for instance, though of course that’s somewhat understandable given that headset’s higher price. Nonetheless, we’re generally advocates of the use of virtual surround sound and here it did help bring games and films to life that little bit more, opening out the sound stage and matching sounds to their perceived location that bit better. We find it most benefits competitive gaming where the greater sense of space and distance allows you to better track where sounds – and therefore enemies – are coming from. As for battery life, Turtle Beach’s claimed 15 hours seemed accurate, with us easily exceeding tens hours of use in our testing. The headset will also automatically power down after being left idle for a few minutes, to save battery too, which is a handy feature.

    Amazing Headset

Ok, so I have never had headset that covered the ears before. My last one was the 'official' PS3 headset. This headset of course blows it out of the water! I heard a lot about the quality of Turtle Beach's headset but never imagined it to be so good for this price. I was debating on getting this one or the 400 for a bit less and do not regret it. Some of the mentions of it being snug is true but it is not squeezing the head. It is just right. The battery life is amazing and the mic is very flexible. The sound quality, which is what you are all interested in, is so good I am surprised that this headset is being sold at $129.99. The surround sound is incredibly clear. You can hear every little movement. The ability to control the game volume and chat volume separately is greatly useful. Overall well worth the price. P.S. no one else has mentioned it so maybe I am just stupid for not knowing it before but you can also do (from what I have done so far) limited voice commands to the system through the headset. I think this is another nice perk.

These headphones fit very comfortably, which is hard to do with how large my skull is, and the sound is great. Playing Diablo 3 with this headset is phenomenal, the effects are crisp and the surround sound is impeccable. It's also great just for watching Netflix or Hulu. Would recommend to any gamer out there.

I have had this headset about 6 months and in that time have had 2 break on me just as shown in the pictures posted by the previous review. All I did to break them was grab them by either speaker and remove them from my head. The headset is very uncomfortable and tight. Both pair have had a low buzz in them. I've also had complaints about others hearing a buzz as well. Strengths is the battery life. Sounds is more full then the PS headset but then again has the buzz. Warranty has been taken care of each time. Cons: Comfort cheaply made buzz did I mention they are cheaply made. Im adding this to the con as well. I offered to pay the difference and get the $300 headset. Explaining that with my extended warranty if I keep getting them replaced at the rate I am I will have gone thru 20 headsets. They still refused to allow me to get the better headset. I would stay away from this headset. For the price the PS Gold headset it better.

Good sound and mic but more fragile than expected.

The sound is clear and the surround sound feature works pretty well (I have been caught looking behind myself to confirm sounds that were obviously not really there). I haven't had a gaming headset before but in comparison to my friends online this mic comes across very well (my friend has the same set). The only thing I would be cautious of is how fragile the plastic is. I have to fully extend the set to fit my head and the extended plastic just cracked on me. I've had this less than a year so I will look into the warranty or Best Buy support to resolve. Would have given 5 stars if it wasn't for this recent break.

Great for Xbox One and half the cost!!

Although this headset is designed for PS4 it works great with my xbox one. I decided to give these a try since it seems like the contents in this package were the same as the contents in the xbox package. The price was also $100 cheaper so that was a big plus. NOTE: Like all aftermarket headsets you will need the chat adapter for chat to work. Really easy to set up. Just hook the optical cable to the optical port in the back of the xbox and plug the Blue tooth dongle into the Xbox. Then run the 3.5mm mobile cable from the headset into the chat adapter and you are all set. Make sure you mute game sound through the adapter you want to be able to control the game sound through the head set. If not you will only get stereo and not surround sound.

These sound better then the ps gold headset at least to me but after owning them for a little less then six months the plastic on the left earpiece just broke while I was wearing them. I sent them it to TB for repair but somehow they were lost in the mail and I never got the replacement pair from TB. Just bought a pair of Asto A50 and despite costing $220 on sale totally worth the money.

Good sound, but came with a bug!

I am a previous PS4 Gold headset owner (which i returned because the companion app did not work) I picked up a pair of the Stealth 500P yesterday (10/14) after searching for reasonable priced good headset and I must say I was very impressed. The previous reviewers are right these are snug but not on the head rather around my ear lobe... where i feel the Gold set was more comfortable for long sessions. The sound quality on these is amazing, the bass is deep and the surround sound is great too so far played WatchDogs with these and used on my phone to listen to music again the sound is excellent for music. Now the reason why I gave only 3 stars is because the Mobile connection seems to have a bug. To preserve power the 500P has a 10 minute time-out and it will turn off if there is no sound while connected wireless. This is supposed to be only a wireless feature and not come into effect when connected via the mobile cable to my phone. Not the case for me every 10 minutes a warning comes on in the headphones that auto shut off will engage and to stop i need to press the power button which I press, but the headphones turn off anyway. I have emailed Turtle Beach tech support and am waiting for response. Will keep you updated.

This is a great headset. Pros: - DTS 7.1 - 4 sets of presets choosing type of sound and another 4 sets of presets choosing type of entertainment you are using it for - Mic boom. Removable as well. - Chargeable/wireless - Charging/on indicator/voice. There is a voice that tells you if charge is complete, its charging or when changing a preset so you know what preset you are on. - 15 hour battery life. Cons: - Price - Plastic. The plastic on the extender thing is very thin. Easily breaks within months of use.

I've own alot of gaming headsets. This one is the worst then any I've own. Ita has good sound but the biggest thing is its not comfortable at all. It fits really tight after 30 mins of wearing them. Your ears will hurt and top of your head. If you buy a headset go for astro there alot better. Dont get wrong turtle Beach does make other better stuff.

I bought the Playstation Gold Wireless headset, and was left feeling let down. The sound quality on those were just not there. I hopped online and noticed that these were being released in a week, so i preordered them. After recieving them, they setup just like the Sony ones, (plug in USB dongle, turn on headset, and start using them). The sound quality on these completely blows the Sony ones out of the water. for barely any extra money, you actually get good sound, with nice bass response, which the Sony ones did not have. when you change setting on this headset, the headphones actually talk to you and tell you exactly what modes/setting you are switching too. it also says "turning on" and "turning off". as the other reviewer said, they are a little snug ( i always have to stretch headphones as far as they go, and these just barely fit my giant head all the way open) but they will loosen up over time. I am very satisfied with this headset, and i would recommend this as your starting point for PS4 headsets. skip the Sony ones.

I loved this headset. The sound was great, as well as the mic. But after about five months or so the left part of my headset fell apart. Luckily, Turtle Beach replaced them. However, my replacement pair has broken on the left side as well. I don't know if it's the way they sit on my head or what. I store they carefully when I am not using them so I'm honestly not sure what it is. For that reason, from my personal experience, I would not recommend these. And that is based on the build quality alone. The sound is great and the mic is too.

My son did the research on this headset for our PS4's. I purchased them as a gift for him. As all good father's I had to test them out with Destiny. I have no complaints what so ever. The sound is great and the chat audio is awesome. I got feed back from my fire team as to the sound on their end and they said I came through crystal clear with very little background noise. I have 2 100 lb dogs and wood floors no one on the other end could hear the dogs wrestling around. The headset is comfortable enough I wore it for 6 hours straight. I'll play another 6 tomorrow without recharging to see how well the 15 hour battery holds up.

I bought this about 6 months ago, and i loved it. The sound decent and being wireless is amazing. However 2 months in the plasitic telescoping broke. I couldn't get a refund but i gotten an replacement from bestbuy. Another month went buy and the same thing happened, best buy warranty ran out had Turtlebeach ship me another replacement. Same thing happened 2 more times and im down to 6 months on that TurtleBeach warranty. I know now that Turtlebeach makes cheap and terrible builds on their headsets. 2 of my friends and my brother had the same problem with Turtlebeach headset getting broken easily. Stay away from Turtlebeach, if you don't believe me read other reviews from amazon. My recommendation get Steelseries, hyperx, or Sennheiser.

Looking at many reviews and different products I choose this one the price was within the budget I wanted and the pros out weighed the cons for me. The battery life is good and the connections great too. Sounds are good and I like the mic on/off button on the side. It makes it easy to use when needed.
