I bought these headphones and returned them the next day. The sound on games was great. But when using them to watch a movie the sound was so low that it kinda killed the point of having expensive 7.1 headphones.

    Excellent headset

After almost a week of using I can say that the headset does everything it set out to do. It's very comfortable,(even with my big ears) it has a long battery life, and it's completely wireless. The only 2 minor issues I have is that I wish it was louder. I listen at almost full volume which is perfect for me but I can see that this might not be loud enough for others. The other is the charging cable. I haven't had to charge yet but the chord isn't long enough to charge while you play(don't know if it can do it anyway but the chord could of been longer). Of course I wish it was cheaper but I knew the price prior to buying so I can't harp on that.

I was using a Astro A50 generation 1 headset but bought the 500x this past weekend. I was getting tired of the MS chat adapter so I knew that I had to choose either the 500X or Elite 800X if I wanted to eliminate that. I chose the 500x because I wanted my headset to have a boom mic where the 800X has a hidden mic. Setup is very easy so you can be playing within a matter of minutes. Updating the firmware is relatively simple and gives you more audio preset choices. Sound quality is great. The bass does not seem as overpowering as my Astros so I think these have a more natural overall sound. Mic quality is definitely better as people I played with said I sounded much clearer than I did with my astros. Battery life is about 15hrs give or take which is double that of my a50s. Overall, I highly recommend this headset.

Good sound, but the plastic breaks around the headset and mic. Not worth the money if you have to send it in for warranty over and over again.

    Big upgrade

I have the Turtle Beach Deltas for my Xbox 360 that I have had great luck with over the years. Unfortunately when I got my Xbox One it wasn't quite compatible with that headset. I purchased the Polk 4 Shot when I caught a sale on Best Buy. The Polks are nice for music, but I was never really happy with them for games and movies. I also didn't like that I had to have a cable attached to the controller. I'm really happy with the Stealth 500X so far. I did the upgrade as suggested by the manufacturer and everything when smooth from that point. The headset connected to the transmitter on the first try and everything was ready to go. There are 4 modes each with 4 settings: - Game Mode has Signature Sound, Shooter, Racing and Sports - Movie Mode has Signature Sound, Action, Horror and Drama - Music Mode has Signature Sound, Stadium, Acoustic and Dance - Surround Off Mode has Natural Sound, Bass Booster, Bass and Treble Booster and Vocal Booster I took an hour and tried every mode with each 'sound' setting to find the ones I liked the most. It was well worth the hour since I know my settings now. The sound quality is excellent in all settings that I use. I recommend everyone test each setting to find the ones that you will use consistently. The rechargeable battery is built in and is charged used a micro-usb cable that is included. I can't say how long the charge lasts, but I used it for about 6 hours recently watching movies and playing games - there was no degradation in the sound. By the way, all cables are included including one to use with your phone. I haven't used the chat function yet, so I can't comment on that yet. The build quality is very good and these seem like they will be durable. A piece of advice - Do the update as soon as you unpack the headset. It will make a big difference.

I purchased this headset technically before release, by about a week. So when I had audio issues I was not too surprised. The chat and game audio would keep cutting out and cracking up. So I go to the turtle beach support site, and again since I picked it up early there is little to no support for this headset. I did find instructions on how to update the firmware though. Unfortunately the software could not recognize the receiver. So after emailing the support staff at turtle beach and waiting a few days, I get a response to download the software again and try once more. It worked! Firmware updated, all should be grand right? Well, not exactly. Chat and game audio still cuts out, but much less frequently. I hope that they can resolve these connection issues because this headset is comfortable and with the completely wireless aspect they are amazing.

Great price on a great TRULY wireless headset

These cans have great sound, look amazing, sound phenomenal, and are TRULY wireless. I can hear the footsteps of those around me in Call of Duty. In Tomb Raider, I hear every sliding rock and explosion to pinpoint accuracy. These are a must for anyone who needs a wireless headset. The microphone is great as well. It comes with voice monitoring so I don't yell into the microphone. It is also detachable. Crisp. Yum.

    The BEST Headphones I've owned.

Let me tell you....These are by far the best headphones I've ever owned. I pondered on these headphones for a while because of the price tag. Since they were on sale for $199, I fuigured I'd give them a try. Setup took all of 2 minutes....if that! The sound that comes out of these things are amazing. Playing COD is nuts! You hear EVERYTHING....I mean EVERYTHING! I'd say it has helped improve my game play because of this. They are very comfortable. The headphones come with 4 preset modes. Game, Movie, etc. You can also adjust the surround sound manually with 2 buttons. You can hear yourself in the headphones like you are in the music studio. This way, you are not shouting at your buddies online or asking them if they can hear you ( I had to do this with the headset that came w/ xbox). All in all..I really recommend this to EVERYONE! If all else fails, just return them if you don't like them, but I would give a shot!!!!!!

    Works on XBOX 360 also!!!!

I currently own a XBOX 360, but will be purchasing a XBOX One in the near future so I wanted headphones that would work on both without having to mess around with all sorts of different setups (ex. using Kinect for chat, multiple headphones, etc....). The package on these headphones says they are for XBOX One but if you have the Turtle beach audio adapter (http://www.bestbuy.com/site/turtle-beach-ear-force-audio-adapter-for-xbox-360/7886327.p?id=1218861654513&skuId=7886327) for the XBOX 360 it works like a champ. After I purchase the XBOX One I won't need the adapter anymore because it's a direct connect. I had the Turtle Beach X41 but had a lot of 2.4ghz interference (popping noise) so these headphones are a big step up, plus I don't have to buy batteries anymore!!!!!

    First Gaming Headset

This was my first major purchase for a gaming headset and let me tell you I did a lot of research before I made the leap. It has been about a week now since I have been using the Turtle Beach 500x headphones and I have to say I am somewhat impressed. They do fit comfortably on my head and I can wear them for an hour or two with out any issues. I am not a hardcore gamer and do not wear them for more than 2+ hours at a time. I have read some people complaining about them not fitting properly or being uncomfortable but I do not have that issue. Volume and sound is really good and I had no issues integrating the headphones into my system. My only complaints about these headphones would be of course the price is a little on the pricey side and I don't like that when you are charging the headset they seem to remain on. Not sure If I am doing something wrong or if that is just the way they are made. Either way I am happy with my investment.

    Another Great TB Product!

I sold my TB X07's for the stealth 500x - have yet to be disappointed. I game quite a bit, maybe 2-3 hours a night after work and I never develop any hotspots or issues that I wouldn't develop with any other headset (such as my Bose Quiet Comforts). Multitude of configure options when you hook it up to your computer (that are updated frequently) as well the ability to switch between a ton of configurations just on the headset itself. It's wireless, which is huge for me and has a pretty good distance - I've used it outside, walking in and out, upstairs, in another room (behind the transmitter even) and it's worked flawlessly. Huge bonus is the rechargable battery - I've just setup a USB hub near my system for all the rechargable batteries (controllers etc) and it's just a part of my process now. HIGHLY recommend. I'm not sure what the 800X reviews are now, but I was initially going to get that ... but based on the reviews and the solid performance of the 500 I went with the 500 - unless you're dying for the latest and greatest, save a bit of money and get the 500.

Superb Quality, Great Audio & Interference Free!

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

This was a much anticipated upgrade for me from my Turtlebeach X41's I purchased a number of years ago. Although the sound quality was excellent on my 360 using the X41's, the lack of support and integration with the xbox One left much to be desired for example; trying to find the right balance with coordinating the three different volume controls on the ear muff, the connecting cable to the controller and the headset adapter attached to the controller itself. Plus, I was experiencing clicks, pops & crackles that could only be attributed to interference from the router and the Kinect. The x41 does not feature channel hopping like the Stealth and other newer headsets. My friends were annoyed to say the least.... Enter the Stealth 500....When they say cut the cord, it is true with the new Stealth! No connecting cable to the controller! One volume for Sound and One volume for Chat on the Headset! I played Destiny last night and the difference was immediate. Full 7.1 Dolby Digital audio which was no longer possible on the x41's lack of support on the xbox One. The sound is amazing and completely immersive as it should be! It was like I was playing a different game. PLUS, no interference whatsoever from outside devices. My friends were use to hearing clicking noises coming from my end which indicated that I was still in the game. Last night, they had to ask a few times if I was still in the room, because it was dead quiet on my end if I wasn't speaking. Audio presets and customization allow you the flexibility to hear the game how you want to hear it. Another bonus, mic monitoring. Now I can hear my own voice in the headset at the volume my friends hear it so I know if I am talking too loud or too quiet. One thing I do wish was present with this headset is a percentage of battery charge left or a visual indicator, so I know when the batteries die. I haven't gotten to that point yet to where the headset might die during a game so I don't know if there is a warning tone or not. I am use to switching out rechargeable batteries on the x41, so it will take getting use to the integrated battery. The other thing I wish it came with was a headset stand like the x41 has. These are minor issues though at this point and time. I highly recommend this headset so far and am very pleased with it.

Mic is better on these than the 800x

I was looking to replace my Astro A50's...yup I said it replace one of the better headphones out there on the market. But I can't stand being stuck running a cord to my controller for chat. So I decided to go back to Turtle Beach for my Xbox and keep my A50's for the PS4. At first I picked up the 800x model. But as so many others I was un happy with the mic and had issues. And yes I did update the 800x...still had issues. So I returned them for the 500x model and am extremely happy. My friends on Xbox say i am loud and clear and much better than my Astro's and the 800x! Both those headphones are great for single player games but if you want to chat 500x is the model you want to go with.
