Good headset but lacks features given it's price
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Pros: -completely wireless for the Xbox One -Good battery life, on a full charge I've averaged about 10-12 hours -Sound is good for First-Person shooters Cons: -No Bluetooth option for the price -useless outside of Xbox One -weak mic quality So I've been using the Turtle Beach Stealth 500x's for about a month now, and so far I like the headset but I am not thoroughly impressed by them. It's the only completely wireless headset out right now for the XBOne, the Astro A50's is wireless too but it requires you to hook up a chat adapter to your controller for voicechat. My biggest disappointment from the 500x's is the absence of Bluetooth, considering the fact that the XP510's and the Playstation's 800 Elites all come equipped with Bluetooth, I am left puzzled as to why Turtle Beach did not incorporate it into the 500x's, especially given it's premium price tag of $230.00. I am a minimalist and I like the idea of using my headset with other devices without using a "mobile" cable (which comes included with the 500x). Overall the sound quality is great, I'm not sure if it's really pushing 7.1 sound, but sound wise, I definitely feel immersed in FPS games like Halo: MCC and COD: AW, you can enhance certain sounds with the presets and surround sound buttons (4 options each). Also another gripe is the mic quality, a lot of my friends tell me they could barely hear me. As for comfort, it's very lightweight, kind of snug (those with larger heads may want to steer clear) and if you game like I do, after 2-3 hours of play my ears will get hot and sweaty using the 500x's. I may return these and just wait for another completely wireless headset to come out. I'm disappointed Turtle Beach made the Elite 800's for the PS4, but no Elite for the Xbox One. For those of you wanting a completely wireless headset and good sound then TB 500x's is the one, If you want bluetooth and more uses out of a $230+ headset look elsewhere.

Great headset
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Easy set up, pretty comfortable, sound I give 8 out of 10. Overall having no cord is awesome. Chat quality with friends is great. Presets work well button placement isn't bad once you get used to. My only complaint is the could have been built a little more rugged. Other than that the perform excellent and I would highly recommend.

Awesome Headset, Definitely Wireless
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Definitely missed the pleasure of having a Gaming Headset that is completely wireless. No Adapters, No Cables, just the freedom to move around the house with no constraints. Never had any interruptions with sound, no crackling, no hissing, nothing of that nature. Mic is very clear and crisp. Even did a video review on them. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ySA5jdTu-zc One thing I did find disappointing is that they don't come with a stand. I didn't just want to lay the headset down while charging. Anyway I would definitely recommend them.

Greats features, significant flaws
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Before I dive into details, this might be a great headset if you're looking for something for XBox One only and wireless is important to you. It turned out not to be the headset for me; I returned mine after being disappointed by missing features and misleading marketing. I currently own two Turtle Beach XP400 headsets. I love them, even though both sets broke within a couple weeks of each other. The plastic cracked at the swivel on my right ear cup, and my wife's set developed a faulty mic connection on the headset side. Turtle Beach is taking care of us, but I've encountered plenty of similar stories from other TB owners. The Stealth 500X has the same physical design, so I have some concerns about durability. Despite those concerns, the full wireless experience of the XP400s is magic. I was lured to the Stealth 500x because they are currently the only completely wireless headset designed for XBox One. They're also advertised as DTS, so I was expecting better sound. They almost delivered. My first letdown was discovering that this headset requires you to disable DTS audio streaming out of the XBox One. Yes, this "DTS" headset does not decode a DTS audio stream--you have to use Dolby Digital, which meant that I could not pass through DTS audio to my receiver / home theater. As heavily as DTS is marketed for this headset, I don't find it to be much of an improvement over previous headsets like my XP400s that already work with Dolby Digital sound; I could have just stuck with them. My second letdown was a feature I grew dependent on--my phone is synced via Bluetooth to my Xp400s. I can easily take calls while gaming just by tapping the Bluetooth button on the headset. Turtle Beach advertises on their web site that you can take calls with the Stealtn 500x, but it seems what that really means is that you can dangle your phone off the headset with a supplied line in cable. That defeats the entire purpose of a "100% wireless" headset, and probably should not have been advertised as a feature. I care about a headset that will work with both my 360 and One. I was expecting an I proved version of my Xp400s. Instead, this headset feels like a step backward. I could have another pair of XP400s for half the price and enjoy better overall wireless freedom. Though I will need a chat cable for the XBox One. This headset does have a lot going for it, but I'm holding out and hoping that a newer model shows up with Bluetooth support and a more robust physical design.

Not loud enough
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Was choosing between these and the Astro A50... Have had several turtle beach headsets in the past including the dx11 and the dx12 so I have a good idea of what the surround sound and gaming should sound like. After unboxing, updating the firmware I was off to test this headset out. First Stop Advanced Warfare... alright surround sound, not enough volume. Was not very pleased. Returned the next day... Purchased some A50's there after. I am much happier with the A50's see that review.

Good, but not great
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have had the XP 510's for about 2 years. They finally gave up on me and I had to select a new pair (thank goodness for the replacement plan!) Since BestBuy no longer carried the 510's I had to go with the Stealth 500. Out of the box it was a very easy setup. First thing I loved is that I no longer had to be hard wired to the xbone controller(Finally!). The overall sound performance was close maybe slightly better than my previous headset and the chat sounded great. Cons The build quality seems a little less than my previous headset. I am concerned about the durability. The button placement seems off and difficult to adjust on the fly. I have also noticed that after 15-20 minutes I can no longer hear people in my party talking, but they can hear me. To resolve this I have found that I need to press the mute button on and then off and it seems to fix the issue. I am not sure that this is an issue with the headset or Destiny party chat(which is always buggy). I am really disappointed that this "premium headset" does not have Bluetooth capabilities. It was so nice to be able to stream music or make/take calls on my xp510. If you want to remove the wires and love to be immersed in your game these headsets get the job done.

unique in a generic world
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This headset does exactly what it says it does. It sounds great and has all the features you would want from a gaming headset. easy to upgrade firmware as well. Lets face it, what makes this a good headset for the xbone is NO CHAT CABLE. that's why I bought it and I'm sure that's why most people would be looking at buying it. The chat volume and quality is just as good as a cable. All in all, finally a true wireless experience on xbone.

Good but not worth the price
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought these a few days ago and i really love the 100% wireless and built in rechargeable batteries but for $250 the sound quality is really lacking. I updated the transmitter and headset to the latest firmware and updated all of the presets and the bass is just really lacking with these. I remember on the xbox 360 I owned the DX12s and the sound quality was amazing on those. When I would play battlefield the bass from the speakers would vibrate and you can feel the bass they put out. I tried out all of the presets and none of them I like. Save your money and just get the 450x if you want wireless, paying $100 extra for the dolby digital is a complete waste because its not even that good, in fact some of the presets sound AWFUL. Like listening to sound in a tin can. Returned these and got the 450x and they sound just as good, a little different but still good nonetheless.

Great for serious gamers
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great headset for the price I got them ( Black Friday deal ) but I have one con for them when you get past that they are great . The con is these need an update to use them right out of the box you must use a computer to do the update and it is about an 15 min job . Ok done the update your ready for gaming and these things are nice !!!!! I just wished that they had an voice that tells you which preset you selected like the stealth 420x does .

Great for Gamers
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Much better sound quality than the soundbar I have been using. I mean this in terms of hearing enemy footsteps in CoD, enemies speaking in Fallout 4, and the music and general ambient noise you hear. Would definitely recommend. The DTS Surround sound literally allows me to hear which DIRECTION noises are coming from, compared to stereo where it's only left or right.

Great Sound, Poor Craftsmanship
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So I have had this set of headphones for almost a year now.. Bought 2-14-2015 and its now 2-2-2015... I LOVE these headphones.. Well I am sad to report that I noticed they were starting to crack the other day. Well I went to put them on the charger and the right ear decided to break as I was pulling them off... So now the right ear pretty much dangles. When wearing it, I feel really annoyed.. Just sent Turtle Beach an email asking to fix or replace the "track" or whatever its called.. I have put a lot of hours on these. They sound great, the mic quality could be better, and pairing could be better. Every once in a while they will cut out and cause me to have to hard restart the xbox. Not sure who is at fault, microsoft or turtle beach..

great Xbox one wireless headset
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I came from the TB xrays, where I had to use a chat adapter, right out the box these paired perfectly, and updated nicely, I love the fact that they are wireless, having kids it makes it easier to just jump up when I'm needed, and just set the controller down, the sound is amazing (7.1) in fifa, madden, GTA, and call of duty.

Excellent!!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Finally a great set of headphones for the Xbox 1. I originally purchased the Ear Force X07 and wasn't impressed. I was waiting on these to come out and Turtle Beach's website says on 11/4, I just happened to be in Best Buy and saw these sitting on the shelf and purchased them. They are completely wireless and the sound quality is great. Highly recommend, I doubt there is a better headset currently on the market for the Xbox 1.

Overpriced, good but not great headset
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. These things are not that comfortable over long periods. They tend to squeeze the temple area. And only one audio preset worth using. Setting 2 and 2 beeps. Very good voice chat though. Overall 3.5 rating.

Solid and completely wireless
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have these and the Astro A50's and I prefer the A50's, but these are great too. The best feature is the fact that you don't have to use the chat adapter AT ALL. I go back and forth between the two. Again, I feel like the A50's are the better of the two, but these sound fantastic on their own and you have the freedom of not needing to use the stupid chat adapter.

Great sound
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. One of the best headsets I have owned. No adaptor needed for the xbox one. However, finding the surround sound option that I liked best was difficult, and the written instructions don't explain the options or how to save your settings.

Better than the A50's/any other gaming headset
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. To start off, I've been using gaming headsets since 2008, and am VERY picky when it comes to sound quality. I had been using the Astro A50's for the past year or so, but the chat adapter for the Xbox one never seemed to properly work with it. I decided to replace them with the stealth 500x's, expecting a downgrade in terms of overall sound quality but an improvement in functionality and convenience. Out of the box, these are a pain to set up. You need to hook them up to your computer and download a firmware update to both the transmitter and headset. A one time thing, but still annoying. After that, I began using them, and WOW! First of all, the sound quality is not only on par with the Astros but even better. They don't have the "tinny" sound of the Astros but maintain all of the clarity and surround performance, and have a better/larger soundstage. They are simply the optimal, most immersive gaming sound solution, and I have begun using them oven for single player games instead of my home theater system. In addition, the chat mix is much better, allowing a better combination of game sound and chat to strike the right balance. Overall, I got what I expected and then some. The headset is completely wireless, it works like a breeze, always pairs, lasts 5 hrs longer than my A50's, sound better, and once again NO CHAT WIRES/PUCKS. If you are in the market for a headset for the Xbox one, get these. Period. They are worth the price, and are cheaper than most other headsets in their market level. My one and only lasting complaint is that the power button is slightly loos, and if you jerk your head too fast it can be heard rattling inside the headset. Very minor, and hardly ever noticeable, but peculiar none the less. BUY THESE
