Customers are saying

Customers commend the Elite 800 Wireless DTS 7.1-Channel Surround Sound Gaming Headset's exceptional sound quality, wireless functionality, and comfortable design. Many also appreciate its good battery life. However, some users find the buttons overly sensitive, the price high, and the fit snug for larger heads. A few also noted the headset's weight as a potential issue during extended use.

This was a present and my friend loves it! They have kids so it is very sturdy in case it gets dropped. The sound is also amazing!

I bought the elite 800 on 10/19 and immediately put it to the test. It performs well during games, music, and movies which most headsets can't accomplish. The controls are simple and sleek. There are plenty of options for even the most hardcore gamer. I bought this headset for the ps4 formally using an astro a50 which is now hooked up to an Xbox one. I'm having a hard time choosing which is better. The only gripe I have is while using the shooter preset during destiny I seem to get a static type noise that I'm almost certain shouldn't be there. I'm sure that's something easily fixed through a firmware update. All in all, amazing headset with amazing sound and features. Highly recommend.

The best headset there is for PS4! You won't be sorry! The sound is crisp, there's different settings for different types of games- shooter, sports, etc.... absolutely the best I've ever had. The price is definitely steep, however I feel you get every penny worth with these. Give them a try- you won't be disappointed.

for $300 dollars i would expect a product that delivers more than it did in terms of quality and functionality. Here are some of the things i did not like about my experience 1. firmware updater did not work properly without wasting a bunch of time trying to figure out that there was a missing driver. 2. microphone quality on the xbox was not up to par as expressed by the people in my party chat 3. Bluetooth sound quality when hooked up to the PC was god aweful 4. ear pads are not oversized so comfort was a concern after only 1 hour of play time 5. Touch pad is waaaaaaaaaaay too sensitive for being something so large and easy to come in contact with. I will be taking these back tomorrow to try out the Astro A50 instead.

    Best Turtles yet

I've owned a few TB headsets. Had to replace my XP510 set recently after the cracked right at the part that slides in. Luckily I had the Best Buy extended warranty and wound up picking up these Elite 800. They sound waaaay better. I am not exaggerating. Way better. The signature sound setting is what I roll with and it's good. I will say that these don't work with the sound editor yet so you can't truly customize them like the old TB headsets but honestly you probably won't anyways once you try them. They are comfy for a time but will bother on extended game sessions. The mic works but it takes getting used to not having a boom. Also there is a weird echo sometimes but I am still tweaking it. The noise canceling feature is awesome and will have people scaring the poo out of you when they tap you on the shoulder in the middle of a fire fight. It has a cool app that allows you to change settings without fumbling with the headset. I love these things. They look cool sitting on the cradle. No more goofy box stand thing

    Set them up right!!

I've seen a lot of haters putting up reviews about the mic not being all that good, but to be honest they apparently didn't follow the directions. You have to download a hub to your computer to update the firmware in BOTH the headset and the charger. Once done setup the console (Xbox 1 for me) for bit rate out (both options) , 7.1 surround. Unplug the power from the charger and hard reset the Xbox One. I admit the first time I didn't do this and I sounded muffled to other people in party. The earcups can get warm from the leather, they weigh about the same as any other Turtle Beach, this headset has about ten sound presets not to mention all the others in the PC Hub. Fully charges in about 30 minutes, last for me about 10 hours with Bluetooth on also. What's nice is if you get a call it will cut the sound from game/movie/TV in half allowing you to talk on the phone. No more fumbling with the phone and cords. This was a Very GOOD investment for me.

    Great Headset

Got these on 10/18 and I have to say that I'm loving this headset. Came from a PX51 and these perform better and sound better (which is to be expected). Memory foam padding is super soft. Ears tend to feel discomfort after a while, but I've experienced that with every other headset. The sound quality is great for listening to movies and music as well (which can't be said about the PX51's). DTS X really changes the game here. Signature sound seems to be my go to preset for all modes. The overall design and magnetic charging base/transmitter screams premium. Purchasing this headset gives you free 2 year extended warranty, a free shirt, and 2 interchangeable plates for the earcups. My only complaint (and it's a very tiny one) is that I can hear slight creaks when moving my head due to the plastic material in order to make it lightweight. All in all, I am glad I upgraded to these and they make me want to play on my PS4 even more (which is probably a bad thing).

    Best Headphones Ever

These headphones are the only wireless headphones that will actually work wirelessly for just about any platform. I use these headphones at work with my computer via bluetooth and then come home and use the xbox one wireless for gaming. Something not advertised about these headphones are their ability to enable music while gaming on the xbox one. I was always upset to learn they removed the background playing music feature of the Xbox 360; however, when you pair these headphones with your phone via bluetooth and have the unit connected wirelessly to the Xbox One, you are able to play music on your phone while still hearing your game/chat at the same time. All in all, these headphones are well worth the hefty price.

Mic is a huge let down

THe 800x is amazing the sound, the settings, the touch pads, are all amazing!! BUT.... THE MIC IS THE WORST EVER. If i spend 300 bucks something that is made to talk and play it better talk and play great. It only does half the job. also the pads aren't thick enough so it the inner plastic presses against my ears and hurts after an hour or so. (not as big of a deal) Overall this is great if you don't have friends.... because you will want to talk to them at some point. IF YOU BUY THIS GIVE UP YOUR FRIENDS OR YOUR MIC.

    Excellent features, decent execution

The Elite 800 is incredibly advanced and supports a number of platforms. The manual comes with instructions on how to use it on Xbox One and PC if you want your sizable investment to work on more than just Playstation platforms. In general this is a very good product. I'm hoping firmware updates make it better. The Android app is a great idea and has very good features though the Bluetooth data connection breaks frequently for me requiring me to restart the app. Bluetooth voice connection for calls is solid. My biggest gripe with the headset is that there is a significant amount of background white noise or "hiss" when the headphones are on. I was disappointed with the level of noise in the Astro A50's but these are even worse. You can even hear the hiss added onto the built-in voice prompts. On the plus side you can run these unpowered with an analog cable and the noise is eliminated. You lose surround and noise cancellation in passive mode though. The comfort level is much better than A50's. The sound stage is decent and the separation is average. The built-in amp has a decent amount of power and bass is well represented. Hopefully an equalizer is introduced at some point. The available presets aren't bad for most things but none of them really represent a flat curve. Overall the feature set is amazing but if you're sensitive to background white noise then look elsewhere.

These are great, had some issues with it dropping out, but after updating the firmware, everything worked. Had to download the Ear Force software from http://www.turtlebeach.com/product-detail/ps4-headsets/turtle-beach-elite-800/551. The mobile app works great as well, can set up preset and change setting without touching the head set.

The BEST headphones with ONE big issue

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

First of all, let me say I love these headphones AND I love the customer service the Turtle Beach company offers. But the issue is the headphones WILL require their service. The #1 and possibly only issue with these headphones is that they aren't sturdy. The plastic in the area where you can extend the headphones to fit more comfortably will inevitably break. As long as you get the insurance then you are good to go. Also, TB will send you a new pair when they do break.

    2nd replacement broke

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

The first pair I owned broke right above the ear cushion where the fork meets the stem. The second pair I owned broke right at the same place. Intelligent of me, i had the geek squad replacement plan on both of the elite 800s i bought, saving me lots of money. The sound and Bluetooth were really great quality but the product as whole isnt durable. I took very gentle care of both of the pairs i owned, but it seemed they would just brake from putting on my head. 100% gentle, I kept them on a nice shelf and only brought them down when i would use them. The noise cancellation on them will give you a slight buzzing noise but it inst to apparent.Overall the sound/ bluetooth i would recommend, but for durability i would not (they're are very FRAGILE, like most TB products). I just bought the a50s because i am done with TB flimsy products, it sucks because they have great sound.

    What happen to Turtle Beach

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I had the px5 headsets awesome until I got too much interference on 2.4ghz so I had to buy some new dual bands. Picked up the elite 800s got everything hooked up and the buttons wouldn't respond. Tried everything including updating firmware etc. On my second set now and still having the same issue. Turtle Beach use to be awesome but I strongly feel the products they make now are pure junk. I spoke to someone at my local bestbuy store and they said a ton of the Turtle beach headsets have been returned. I would strongly recommend staying away from this headset and other TB headsets until they get it together

I am very happy with the Elite 800. The sound quality is excellent and the headset seems to be constructed well. The features are outstanding. The Android app for my phone lets me change the settings on the headset while it is in use. Volume, mute, presets, sound levels/mixes, update firmware, you name it! Setting it up is NOT DIFFICULT IF YOU READ THE QUICK START GUIDE. It isn't what I would call plug and play, but it took less than 10 minutes following the directions. I was not unhappy with my Sony Pulse headset, but I am definitely glad I upgraded.

The headphones are fantastic. They have nuke multiple preprogrammed settings and many, many more on their app that allows you to fully customize your experience. Noise cancellation is top notch. Not having a boom mic is the only drawback. Everyone says I sound faright away from the mic.
