Customers are saying

Customers admire the Recon 200 headset's sound quality, comfort, and value for its price. Many appreciate its compatibility across multiple gaming platforms and the convenient flip-up microphone. However, some users point to issues with battery life and the wired connection. A shorter cord length and occasionally low volume were also cited as drawbacks.

I don’t understand what’s the point of it being a wired headset and you have to charge sound is great my only complaint is having to charge a wired headset and the battery life kinda sucks

I use these for my PS4 and Xbox series S. The work great and I don’t have any complaints. I haven’t tested them on my gaming pc yet, but I assume they’d work if plugged in to a joystick. The sound quality is good and crystal clear. The muffs are adjustable and have a snug fit on my head. No issues after wearing them for hours at a time. Highly recommended

I wanted something that wouldn't break, but was reasonable in price. The quality is solid and the head band is metal, which I love. My head is big, but these fit comfortably. The audio and the mic sound great. I was worried about the mic breaking off or coming loose after repeated use, but it is just as strong as the day I bought it. It's great to turn on/off the mic by simply pulling it down and pushing it up out of the way.

I purchased this headset in the anticipation that I was gonna get the PS5, I may not of gotten the PS5 but I definitely got a significant upgrade from my last headset, this one is more comfortable and it fits better. As I wear glasses, the cushioning of the earmuffs are just perfectly placed that the side of my head doesn’t hurt when I play for 6 to 9 hours at a time.

They’re good for gaming, but you can still hear everyone talking around you. Also, gave it 4 stars because you have to charge it, even though it’s a wired headset. I thought it was broken until I located the USB port & decided to plug it in as apart of my troubleshooting.

Great sound and comfortable headset. Took off a star for 2 reasons. 1) annoying option for PS or Xbox power on. Button always seems to skip around when turning on and off. They should’ve made 2 separate headsets to accommodate each console. 2) battery life not that great.

Headset offers excellent phonal quality. Words are heard clear and crisp on both ends. Sound dampening is excellent. While the ear muffs are comfortable, the head band is uncomfortable and annoying. The limited expansion and minimal or missing padding is a design shortfall.

Good sound, especially the base. I find it a bit odd to have to charge the headset when it is a wired headset. I mean unless I'm mixing something. I really like everything else about it. I would give it a straight 5 otherwise

these are great headphones. they are loud and the bass is pretty good. the only down side to it is they need to be charged every 12 hours of use. other than that I am happy with my purchase. oh and the mic is great, other people can hear you when playing with others.

Not the best headset in the world but my Astro a40’s died and these were half price around Christmas. Not sure how long they will last but they sound decent and for less than $30 I couldn’t beat it. They are comfortable for longer playing sessions.

Okay so im going to start with the bad stuff first. 1. this is a wired headset...but you need to charge it for it to work?? which makes no sense and defeats the whole purpose of having a wired headset 2. it has on ear controls which in itself is not my favorite but i can deal with that but it has way too many that you can never figure out what setting your adjusting and you obviously cant see it cause its on your head (one of the settings is how much you can hear your own voice through the headset which i never understood why on earth people would want that so i think its a pointless feature) 3. it has 2 different setting (xbox and ps4) which is also kinda dumb cause i really dont think it should make a difference but the ps4 setting was slightly better and crisper sound 4. its kinda tight on my head and i have a tiny head so if you have a bigger head its probably gunna hurt you 5. the box didnt come in a separate package so it got a little damaged which isnt the biggest deal but thought it was worth mentioning okay now onto the good stuff: 1. the ears swivel flat which i loveee because i dont have a stand so i just set it on my bed and its great when travelling 2. has a flip to mute mic (it can just flip up to mute or flip back farther which is good when storing it) i like the flip to mute mics for the ease of it and you always know if your muted or not but i just worry that if you do it or mess with it too much its going to get ruined or break but i have not tested that 3. sound and mic quality is pretty good a little bit better than my old turtle beaches but not as high quality as your higher end more expensive brands ( im not like a super crazy gamer just casual so it was fine for me) 4. it is adjustable so it can fit all sized heads (like i said before im small and i have a tinyyyy head and it fits me on the smallest setting) so in summary its a fine headset and dont get me wrong i love turtle beach but it has so many unnecessary features and you can definitely get any other turtle beach headset probably for a better value and be happier too

      Thanks for your feedback!

The Recon 200 is an amplified headset. In order for the amplification to work, the headset would need to be powered by a power source of some sort.

Rather than tethering you to the console or another power source via a USB cable, we placed a rechargeable battery in the headset. This allows you to only have one connection to the console's controller, rather than two (one to the console, one to the controller).

In regard to the headset's modes; each console's controller handles audio differently via their headset jacks. Due to the differences in the way those controllers handle audio, the headset would need to be equipped with two different modes in order to ensure full functionality.

With that being said, we're happy to hear that you enjoyed the headset and hope this cleared up some confusion in regard to the features that the headset has. If you are ever in need of assistance or find yourself with a question related to our products, please do not hesitate to reach out directly to our dedicated Support Team for assistance. They can be reached directly from the main Turtle Beach website.

Thank you kindly and have a wonderful day! TurtleBeach

This com set is fine - but one thing that really annoys me is that with volume on headset turned up full, I can’t hear approaching footsteps well enough. I understand that loud sounds in headphones can damage hearing, but that should be MY choice. A little more volume and I’d have given these 5 stars.
