I tried it before installing per manufacturer recommendation. Seems like they dont even trust it. First issue, the wire into the rear camera was loose and caused interference on the screen. I was hoping they would just send me a replacement rear camera and all would be good. I emailed Vantop support and their response "I am sorry that we are not responsible for the after-sale of Best Buy orders at present" I was shocked that a company just declines any responsibility of warranty for their product. Best Buy returned the cam with no hassle Thanks Best Buy. Before taking back I did try to make the camera work after the 3rd time turning on the cam it would keep trying to reboot but it was stuck in this mode and nothing else. Apparently this is a common issue with this cam. If the manufacturer could work these issues out they would have a great product but for now its a waste of money.

I installed this on my Honda Element that has no back-up camera and this was a great add-on. The back-up camera function on this mirror is great! Just purchased a second camera that went into my truck. Great product!

Lights are blown out and starry and take over the entire monitor until a car passes you. Not useful as a rear view mirror.

I had to repurchase 3 times and still the reverse camera after a week of use started to be inconsistent and eventually gave out. I’m not sure if I got a faulty unit but I tried 3 times and all 3 were major fails. Don’t waste your time and money.

I was really excited, then horribly disappointed.

However, I had to remove it. When you look into the mirror on the rear camera mode, all you could see was the pavement, it did not allow you to see rear traffic. Since there are front/rear modes at the same time, it would show the rear and forward traffic however, there was a lot of ghosting in what you could see. I could see the rear pavement marks on top of the rear facing traffic and front loading traffic. And, when I was driving in a wooded area, the trees distorted the view which was hazardous. Overall, no matter the mode, it was hazardous and distracting. The contrast on the mirror (swipe up or down) did not work. I wrote Vantop customer service in China, but they did not read my email thoroughly and their answers did not answer my issues. Thus, I had the device removed. Don't waste your time and money.

For the backup camera, you can install it on the back windshield of your car or on the license plate of your pickup truck by screws.
Please swipe leftward on an empty section of the touchscreen to switch among the view from the rear camera, the view from the front camera, and the view from both cameras.
Also, you can swipe upward/downward on the left part of the touchscreen to see lens' full field of view.

Not a good buy.

Took it to Geek Squad since it was only 6 months old and they would not repair and told me to contact the manufacturer. Well we all know how that goes.
