Don't like being forced to use my phone as a remot

Maybe my kids or guests don't have a smartphone with the vizio app installed... maybe I just want to charge my phone or leave it in another room. I wouldn't purchase again as this is not a smart device on its own and the remote is too basic to do things that you are used to doing on your typical remote.

Based on feedback provided by customers like you, we’ve recently released an update for VIZIO SmartCast Home Theater Displays that adds onscreen access to all of the settings. This new software update is rolling out to most VIZIO SmartCast displays and will be downloaded automatically. To navigate the new onscreen setting menu, use any VIZIO television remote with a menu button. If you don’t have one, please contact our Support team to see if you’re eligible. Clear Picture, Cheap Frame

The picture looks great when the TV is hung, but the plastic frame is very cheap and bends away from the screen when you move it around. Would probably be ok in a home when set up once, but not good at all for commercial use where it needs to be moved continuously.

Picture quality, features, etc were not outstanding, but decent for the price. However, the remote it came with completely ruined it for me. They called it a basic remote. I call it a completely useless remote. The TV doesn't have a built-in digital tuner, so the only 2 things the remote is good for is turning the TV on and off, and turning the volume up and down. Other than that, completely useless. Sure, you can download the companion app and install it on your phone, but there is a noticeable delay when streaming movies and shows via Netflix. Seriously, the ability to change channels has been around since TVs came out. Why they dropped such a basic feature, I truly have no idea. Just another corporate company with bad business sense.

This Vizio Smart Cast Home Theater display is an ultra HD set with 4k. To get the UHD quality you desire you would simply subscribe to UHD in your netflix account.

||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.You can't beat the price and the amount of screen real estate you get .. is it HDR ..nope but that's ok.. this TV is to serve one purpose and one purpose only to be in your entertainment room ! there is no smart apps on it there's a basic remote with it , But you pair the Visio remote app and it's great.. I don't even think this has a tuner.. it's just meant to output good video for a good price
