Hard drive replaced a 500 gig. Computer is much faster. Easy to install

The HDD works perfectly out of the box, just no SATA cable included, but luckily I had an extra one lying around from when I bought my motherboard. But I definitely recommend 2-4TB for someone who edits photos/videos. I almost filled mine up as soon as I transferred over some photos from my old HDD. Other than that, speed is great.

I have use WD drives for as long as I can remember and never had a problem. I can safely say that a one TB is very safe bet for archiving all files. I do a lot of audio production and is fast and reliable for all my needs. Sure there's huge drive for not much more however, it you want to play it safe, 1 TB WD drives are proven reliable.

Western Digital stands for quality at a good price. I have three of these hard drives in various computers in my home. All of them of varying age. They are extremely reliable. And at less that a dollar a GB, you can't go wrong! The negative...I guess it's not an SSD...so it's slow compared to one. But I can't really call that a fault since it's not an SSD drive.

Nice solid 7200rpm 1tb drive. Installation is a snap. It's a great basic hard drive for desktops - not suitable for surveillance or NAS applications but perfect to replace a dead or dying drive in a desktop or to add additional storage either internally if you have the space or externally if you have a chasis.

I always buy WD because they are the best! I have used them for the last 40 years :)

The blue drives aren't the fastest drives out there, but for what it is it does the job admirably. I am using it as a storage drive on my daughters Mac. It's quiet and spins up fairly quick from sleep. No major complaints, just be aware it has a shorter warranty (2 years) than the more expensive Black or Red series drives.

Installed this drive as a second drive on my 7 year old PC with Windows 7. Had no problems with installation or assigning a drive letter to it. So far I've installed about 400 gb of GOG.com games on the drive. Games play well off the drive with no lag or glitches. Extremely happy with it as of the present.

Need a quick fix to a server and was able to easily and quickly pop this drive in and was up and running in no time. Thus far, it has been rock solid so I am very happy about that as well as the price I paid for it. I feel comfortable recommending this product to others.

Purchased to replace a HP provided SATA Hard Drive for my desktop computer with two hard drives for RAID 1 protection from data loss. (Look up RAID 1 vs RAID 0 if you are not familiar with dual drive systems.) One of the mirrored drives had failed so I purchased this drive and had the Geek Squad install it to replace the identical WD drive that failed. The dual drive RAID 1 avoided data loss that might have resulted with the failed drive and the expert Geek Squad tech was able to install the new drive and restore the RAID 1 protection. Newer computers have solid state drives (but don't offer the same storage capacity), but since they are not mechanical, there is little risk of failure as with older mechanical drives.

Great fast HD, easy set up, very large storage space

I went shopping for an internal tower hdd and I am partial to Western Digital drives. When I found this 1TB drive on the shelf and at a competitive cost to on line products, I grabbed it. Was easy to install and came on line in Windows 7 with little effort very happy with performance. Good Best Buy!

Nothing but good things to say about Western Digital drives. Have always performed well and usually priced right. This was a replacement drive for an original drive that came in a desktop. The original drive has had problems off and on for a while and it was time to replace it with a new unit. Very pleased !!

It appears that Western Digital is now just relabeling WD Blue drives as "Mainstream" to fulfill inventory, because every drive on the shelf in this spot was a WD Blue with a new UPC stuck over the old UPC to indicate these are "Mainstream" drives. It was actually cheaper to buy this WD Blue at my local Best Buy than anywhere else online! Great deal. My only concern with this drive is every time it wakes up from sleep or powers on, the drive RPM spins up like crazy for several seconds. Interestingly, it only does it at start-up or waking from sleep, which I'm told is normal behavior? *Shrugs*

I purchased this hard drive to replace a Seagate drive that went bad in my mom's desktop. It was an older Dell.. This hard drive was an upgrade since it is a 1 tb drive. Works great.. I am pleased with the drive & prefer Western Digital products over Seagate any day!

Purchased this drive as a replacement for my son's computer. It was easy to install and boots the system pretty quickly after installing Windows back on it. The drive is relatively quiet for a platter drive. Overall impression of this drive is that it is well worth the money!
