Not a bad drive for a consumer part
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The blue drives aren't the fastest drives out there, but for what it is it does the job admirably. I am using it as a storage drive on my daughters Mac. It's quiet and spins up fairly quick from sleep. No major complaints, just be aware it has a shorter warranty (2 years) than the more expensive Black or Red series drives.

Great drive for such a low price
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I use internal harddrives for surround audio remastering. The program basically takes a 10GB stereo recording and processes it 4-6 times by splitting in 6 different soundtrack (5.1 surround recording). Now imagine what kind of an I/O load a harddrive has to sustain to write at a very high speed 6 such files simultaneously, non stop, for months. My previous internal harddrive worked fine until I started this hobby of mine. It gave up in a week. I went to best buy thinking I will have to spend at least $250, but instead bought this for $80 and even got %10 off with my Best Buy Member card. Amazing! This harddrive has already worked flawlessly for 3 months. Only when there is a lot of I/O at the same time I hear its whining, which is expected. I dont know how long it will last. If it will tolerate my high I/O abuse longer than a year I will be a happy camper. If it will give up sooner - no problem - I will just buy another one. $80 isn't going to make me poor!

Carddd
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I put it in my Pc and it runs perfect and gives me just enough storage. I mainly use it for school work though, if you want one for games, buy a more expensive storage card.

So far, so good
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Installed this drive as a second drive on my 7 year old PC with Windows 7. Had no problems with installation or assigning a drive letter to it. So far I've installed about 400 gb of GOG.com games on the drive. Games play well off the drive with no lag or glitches. Extremely happy with it as of the present.

Excellent hard drive
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Need a quick fix to a server and was able to easily and quickly pop this drive in and was up and running in no time. Thus far, it has been rock solid so I am very happy about that as well as the price I paid for it. I feel comfortable recommending this product to others.

Good value internal drive
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I went shopping for an internal tower hdd and I am partial to Western Digital drives. When I found this 1TB drive on the shelf and at a competitive cost to on line products, I grabbed it. Was easy to install and came on line in Windows 7 with little effort very happy with performance. Good Best Buy!

IDENTICAL TO 1TB SATA HARD DRIVE SUPPLIED BY HP
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchased to replace a HP provided SATA Hard Drive for my desktop computer with two hard drives for RAID 1 protection from data loss. (Look up RAID 1 vs RAID 0 if you are not familiar with dual drive systems.) One of the mirrored drives had failed so I purchased this drive and had the Geek Squad install it to replace the identical WD drive that failed. The dual drive RAID 1 avoided data loss that might have resulted with the failed drive and the expert Geek Squad tech was able to install the new drive and restore the RAID 1 protection. Newer computers have solid state drives (but don't offer the same storage capacity), but since they are not mechanical, there is little risk of failure as with older mechanical drives.

This WD hard drive has worked flawlessly.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this WD 1TB SATA hard drive over a year ago because it was inexpensive, reliable, fast, and ideal as a back up drive. I placed it inside of a SATA to USB unit, formatted it, and placed files and images from my three computers onto it. It has worked flawlessly.

WD Quality
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is the third drive in my system and will be used primarily for holding movies and animations that I am making myself. I've always found WD equipment to be reliable and actually funcition the way they are supposed to. The drive is quiet, and interfaced easily with the rest of my system. Though not as fast as a solid state drive, it was reasonable in price, and performs well beyond it's cost.. It was important for me to equip with "proven technology": for what I need to do.

Bargain pricing on WD Blue
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It appears that Western Digital is now just relabeling WD Blue drives as "Mainstream" to fulfill inventory, because every drive on the shelf in this spot was a WD Blue with a new UPC stuck over the old UPC to indicate these are "Mainstream" drives. It was actually cheaper to buy this WD Blue at my local Best Buy than anywhere else online! Great deal. My only concern with this drive is every time it wakes up from sleep or powers on, the drive RPM spins up like crazy for several seconds. Interestingly, it only does it at start-up or waking from sleep, which I'm told is normal behavior? *Shrugs*

Great Hard Drive
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I needed a new hard drive for a client of mine. Since it was an older iMac, I needed to purchase the exact same brand of HD as the original. I was able to swing by my local Best Buy and pick this drive up. I had no problems with installation or configuration, and the machine has been running great since!

fixed my problem
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Our desktop kept crashing. I was ready to say goodbye, when as a last ditch effort I asked the guys at Best Buy what could be wrong. They suggested that the problem was a bad hard drive. They also suggested this product. I am NOT a computer hardware person, but this was ridiculously easy to install. Problem solved!

Excellent product
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this hard drive to replace a Seagate drive that went bad in my mom's desktop. It was an older Dell.. This hard drive was an upgrade since it is a 1 tb drive. Works great.. I am pleased with the drive & prefer Western Digital products over Seagate any day!

Good speed
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought as a replacement for a 10 year old drive that was failing S.M.A.R.T., faster than my old drive, benchmarks seem great. Opted for same size as my old drive, so I could do a sector by sector cloning - worked perfectly, now my system drive.

Like new computer
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Best Buy replaced my hard drive with this WD ATA hard drive and saved all of my data off of the old drive. The computer was running extremely slow and became very aggravating to use with the slowness. This new hard drive is quiet and is extremely fast. I am very pleased with this product

Drive is great, software not so much
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this drive as a replacement for my daughter's computer. Installation went smoothly. When I tried to use the included cloning software to clone her current drive, I repeatedly ran into errors where the software unexplicably would shut down before cloning began. Spent several hours with tech support, and they couldn't figure it out either!! I finally downloaded a free cloning software program which worked like a charm! Drive itself has worked flawlessly.

Western Digital drives are always good
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchased this drive as a replacement for my son's computer. It was easy to install and boots the system pretty quickly after installing Windows back on it. The drive is relatively quiet for a platter drive. Overall impression of this drive is that it is well worth the money!
