I wanted to upgrade the hard drive in my old desktop from IDE to SATA, as SATA is faster and cheaper. Instructions that came with this WD drive were not the best, and instead of providing the cloning software, I was required to download it. Had to do that on another computer and save on thumb drive. My computer is an old office computer, and I was able to contact their IT dept to get the administrator's password to activate the SATA. Had to get an SATA cable and a power adapter cable, too. WD warns that you might have issues if you have a RAID card. Don't know if my computer has one, but as I was re-loading everything, I did see something flash by about RAID. From what I've read Seagate doesn't have the RAID card problem and they include a CD with the cloning software and a cable. Had I known that before I bought this, I would probably have gone with Seagate, but the WD is working fine now.

I've bought several Western Digital hard drives over the years and always love 'em. Got this one to add to my Windows 10 PC for extra storage as a second hard drive. Installed in minutes with no issues. Didn't come with a SATA cable so had to rush out and get one but that was the only thing I wasn't crazy about.

Excellent value for a fast and quiet 1TB. The documentation and install directions were amazingly well written and install was a breeze...

Easy installation, although it didn't come with the necessary cable so I had to go back to Best Buy and get one. Working perfectly so far.

I usually prefer Western Digital hard drives because my previous experience with them has always been great and never disappointing. This drive was easy to install and the included Acronis Image Writer software made it very easy to transfer not only all my personal files to the new drive, but my Operating System as well. Once the file transfer was complete, I simply plugged the SATA cable of the new drive into my motherboard, powered up the computer and it booted right up just like with the old drive.

Needed this for my camera system. Was easy to install and I've used for almost a year now and it's still working great.

Original 750 gig hd crashed. Went with this one for size and speed. Wasn't disappointed and very quiet also

This drive installed without issue in a Dell Optiplex780. Works great. Restored backup from external drive and was off and running.

Was working on a Friends computer and he couldn't figure out why it was running so very slow, and getting a blue screen after booting up. Found out it was a bad drive. Bought this Western Digital 1 TB drive to replace his existing one, and that booted up without any issues. Best Buy had it in stock and took only a few minutes to pick up, swap out, and install the OS. Everything is great.

I purchased for a second Hard Drive, and installed it myself. Very easy to install for a non tech person, works great.

While I haven't had it installed much more than a month, it is continuing to work very well. Seems to have decent Read/write speed for a basic HD.

Price is low for the quality you get in return. It is easy to install and gives detailed instructions on using it. It is a great buy. I would recommend it to anyone. The amount of storage space you have on this hard drive will last for a very long time. 4/5.

I had a hard drive failure on my desktop. I purchased this hard drive as a replacement. Easy to install and works perfectly.

My current hard drive died. The HD hard drive installed in less than 5 minutes. Loaded Windows 10 without any issues

Installed a Linux based OS called Mint., installation went perfect & worked perfect.This a great hard drive for any pc desktop computer

So far no problems. Works just like a hard drive. Installed and formatted without any problems.
