    Great add-on drive

I wanted more disk space and this filled the bill. It was easy to install in a computer and I had it up and running in no time. It is the second data drive on a FreeBSD host that runs Samba so when I upgrade to Win11 I have someplace to put the Win10 data files that I can access later. Or at least that is the plan.

Great hard drive, Fantastic included software

Five stars for the drive. Purchased to upgrade a much older, slower, lower capacity drive that I was using with an adapter card. Installation of the new drive was painless and it runs great. Note this is a bare drive that comes only with mounting screws. Five stars also for WD's downloadable Acronis TrueImage (ATI) software. ATI will backup all partitions including hidden Windows partitions and the boot sector, so the entire contents can be transferred to the new WD hard drive. Bootable ATI recovery disk can be created on either a CD-ROM or a USB stick, though the WD edition will only run if a WD drive is installed. ATI gets a fifth star for its ability to be installed and run from the old hard drive AND wipe the old drive in place. This is useful if you only have one SATA cable and you're replacing a non-WD drive.

I read some reviews that this drive was noisy. Not the one I got. For my use this is working fine. Installation was easy, drive is fast enough for my uses. I just hope it lasts longer than the SG HD that it replaced.

I bought one of these a month ago because a hard drive of a different brand was failing somewhat unexpectedly. This turned out to be so smooth and fast I've since bought two more, one the exact same and the other the 2TB version. Note: this drive is 7200 RPM and the 2TB is 5400 RPM. So this drive is best for more intensive uses like media and applications that need quick access. All of them are equipped to negotiate 600 MB/sec SATA III connections and they'll also be fine on a SATA 2 and SATA 1 motherboard. These are also the quietest hard drives I've ever used. I'm very pleased with mine and will gladly buy more ASAP.

Great Drive For Audio and Photos

I'm using this Drive to record high resolution audio files in my Home Studio (Win7). So far it is very stable and fairly quiet. Though this drive is a tad bit slow, it's rock solid and very inexpensive. I usually use WD or Seagate "Black" hi-speed drives but they are expensive as are Solid State Drives (SSD). FYI--I've switched back to standard Hard Drives (HD) and moved away from SSD's because I've had some bad failures from SSD drives. A word to the wise: Though HD's do crash, I've always had the data easily recovered--SSD crash and most everything's lost forever! I learned the hard way...

    Hard Drive Works Great

I purchased this as a 2nd hard drive to upgrade the storage on my desktop computer which was running out of disk space. I had to purchase the cable to connect it to the motherboard separately, but apart from that, I don't know what more you could want from a hard drive. It was easy to connect. I had no issues having it recognized by my computer. It has tons of storage space. I was able to transfer over all of my music, photos, videos and I still have lots of space left on the drive. It runs smoothly and is quiet. I've been using it for over a year now and have had no issues with it whatsoever.

Excellent replacement for hard drive crash

The original Hitachi hard drive on my HP desktop computer failed without warning. I chose this WD model as its replacement, and it was installed by the good folks at Best Buy. Based on my past experience with computers, Western Digital makes an excellent product, and after several months of daily use this drive still works great. It is fast, too. I have had no problems with either the WD hard drive or the installation.

    Super !!!

I bought this to replace an OEM Seagate in my Dell desktop that I was concerned was beginning to die on me. I had slow boots and loads and slow loads between tasks so decide to upgrade before it died and at this price its a bargain! WD drives come with a clone software for free which made the process a piece of cake even for a novice like me. Just plug the new one in and format it then run the clone software and about 20 min later the new drive was exaaaaactly what the old one was. Obviously this only works if your HD isn't dead already but now I have a brand new HD and a spare one with windows 7 if I ever need it. Once this HD boots I can't even hear it. So far very happy, especially for $70, if you had a new HD formatted and loaded with Windows from a repair shop you would spend triple. Buy it and do it yourself before your old one dies. just my $.02.

    Great starting HDD

Well I haven't had issues as of yet but here is my review so far for having it over a month with plenty of installs. So being a gamer, I have use pretty much most of this hard drive to play games on and have my windows installed on. Has worked wonderfully for me. No issues or weird things that has happened, I fully recommend anyone who is building a desktop pc for there first hard drive but I would also recommend spending the extra money on an SSD by Samsung or WD. For this day in age of gaming, a 1TB hard drive isn't enough nor a 1TB SSD as well. A good starting point would be a 2TB. As a first PC build, I was happy to buy this to have my stuff installed but as a curse of being a PC gamer, you want more faster and larger SSD's so I will be upgrading soon. Stay safe and have fun everyone

I purchased this hard drive to replace the OE hard drive in my Imac 21,5 Mid 2010. The install was tedious, but there are plenty of how to videos on the web for instruction. Since install, the hard drive has worked wonderfully, quiet, and fast.
