    The model # is advertised as a CMR drive however note they are shipping the SMR versions which are WAY more inferior

    Bought and used for about 3 weeks, until it started making a loud clicking noise. Thankfully it was still within the exchange period so I got a new one, it's worked well ever since.

    Got this to replace a 1TB Seagate drive. This Western Digital drive is loud! I had one ten years ago on an old PC and that was loud too. Wish I'd bought the Seagate alternative.

  • Failed after one week, WD RMA process worked well.

    I installed this 4tb drive and it worked flawlessly for one week, then it failed. I used the Western Digital RMA process to return the drive and get a replacement drive, which was fairly painless. This replacement drive works as expeced providing me needed drive space.

    The 4TB drive in my computer started having errors, so I bought this to replace it. When I opened my computer, I discovered that what I bought was the exact same model. So, my experience is that a) the first one lasted about 2 years, but crashed my computer requiring clean re-install of Windows (a day wasted there), and b) now the replacement was dead out of the box. The BIOS would not even recognize its existence (after multiple tries trying multiple ports and cords). Summary: Cheap, but not reliable enough for my world.
