I bought this hard drive to use for back ups even though it is not specifically for that purpose. I have been very successful in doing back ups.

DOA I purchased this drive to replace my TimeMachine backup on the way out of town due to a family emergency. When I got back and plugged it in . . . NADA. Nothing I could hear a single click but it was not visible as a drive no matter what enclosure I used. I could not hear disks spinning or anything. And on top of the sales associate, I finally tracked down to help me get the drive from its locked glass case, and was rude and snotty and not at all interested helping me to locate the store inventory.

This drive was purchased as a backup drive. Western Digital is a decent drive, although I have been purchasing Seagate. It works as expected, and I’m happy with the purchase.

Only had it for 6 months when it suddenly died. Started hearing a repeated clicking noise and then it completely died and now won't boot up to even try data recover. All my files and photos are gone. Took it to the Nerd Squad who said there was nothing they could do but send it out for data recovery for $1,600.

I purchased the WD - Desktop Everyday 4TB Internal SATA Hard Drive for Desktops due to one of my drives beginning to fail. This replacement is a Blue drive with a 2 year warranty.

It is a standard 3.5" internal hard drive. It also works well with USB Drive Docks, as an external drive also. That is how I use it. It formats for Windows, Linux, or MacOS.

    False specs, SMR drives

The specifications falsely show these as CMR drives when they're truly SMR drives and marked up to take advantage of those who wouldn't notice. Learn from my mistake and shop elsewhere.

Bought this for a computer that I bought at best buy and the computer died within 3 months. Was so discussed I just put it on the side as the warranty was over and I was discussed. I installed the hard drive in a new computer I built and the drive made ugly noises from day one and then died within 10 hours.
