I use this as part of a redundant backup scheme. I backup my computer files to this, and also to an online service.

Seems solid at this point. Replacement for a crashed drive. Time will tell

I had a 1TB WD MyBook for my Dell. Bought this 3TB to connect to network for our updated Apple ecosystem. Could not get it formatted for Mac. Did plenty of research but still couldn't get it done. Returned this for two 1TB Passport USB drives. They work great. I guess this WD 3TB would be fine for a PC environment.

If you want to use this drive as a USB home network drive connected to/thru your router, re-format the drive to NTFS file structure. It comes with the exFat structure as default, good for computers but not routers. Still, it operates perfectly, no actual problems at all. Huge capacity, low price.

My older external backup drive quit working. This one was easy to set up. I've just been able to set it up and not worry about it because it backs things up every hour.

It's very small and can fit anywhere. It also has a ton of space of memory. I have this connected to my PS4 and so far I have 8 games downloaded on it and still have about 2.5 T left to download stuff. Definitely worth buying.

This drive is easy to set up and give plenty of storage space without emptying your wallet. Works for a backup drive or your everyday drive to add to your computer. Simple design that is not odd shaped or looking.

Considering the price and the size of the disk it is very decent product. Speed is not really that great. It does make a bit noisy sound when searching or wakes up after being dormant. Just got it so can't speak of longevity. Am using it for back up of my FLAC files.

Like some others, my Windows 7 computer would not boot up after a plug-and-play installation of this hard drive. I tried various fixes suggested online, but the only one that worked was the Western Digital recommendation to re-format the drive using the NTFS format instead of the exFAT format in which the drive is pre-formatted by WD. So, check this out before you save anything on the drive, since a reformat will erase all the data on the drive. And make sure you save the WD software that comes with the drive. If you recopy it onto the drive after reformatting, perhaps the WD Smartware will recognize the drive as a WD drive. I erased that software during the reformat, and so Smartware doesn't see the drive anymore. So I decided to use the Windows 7 backup program instead of WD's program. Otherwise, the drive seems to function well, now that I've resolved the no-boot issue.

A good hard drive to back up data on my Mac. Very happy so far. 3 terabytes is more than enough and works well with time machine. FYI- Must be formatted to work with Mac.

I had to buy a new computer and my old external hard drive would not work with the new OS. So, I bought the WD - My Book 3TB External USB 3.0 Hard Drive. No problem installing it, and it is doing what I needed it to do, namely back-up my files.

I have always used a thumb drive to back up my computer. With an external hard drive, my worries are now over. Only thing I do not like is that I cannot click on a link and review what is on my external hard drive. Call it paranoia, but I only have "faith" that my data is being saved.
