Q: Can this be used with Apple macOS Sierra 10.12.1? Will it interface easily with Time Machine?
A: Yes it will easily work with any Apple any up to date version. I got one for Time Machine and did not reformat it because it works for both Apple and Windows. 3 TB will go a long way for you and it is better than those small portable HDs because this needs to be on everyday to be backed up.

Q: Will this work on the dish network dvr?
A: I found out the hard way this will not work. As of 7/22/2018 Dish has an upper limit of 2TB on external hard drives.
Q: What kind of things can I put on the Hard Drive?
A: Anything you can put on your internal hard drive. It's a hard drive. It holds data, which includes documents, photos, music. We use them to store backup jobs.

Q: Will this device work with Windows 10?
A: Yes, this external USB hard drive is compatible with Windows 10 operating system.
Q: Must this drive be reformatted to operate with Catalina OS 10.15.6?
A: No. Something like a file system format change would be well publicized and only implemented in a major version update. But even then, MacOS is very good about recognizing all sorts of file systems, including legacy versions.
