I purchased the My Book, 3Tb, for the purpose of containing all of my personal information from my computer. The main reason was incase my computer ever failed I would still have the info that I had prior to failure. So far it has met or exceeded my specifications.

I have been using a 1 TB WD External hard drive for personal use. I recently took up photography and have needed a ton of extra space and since I already knew how my 1 TB was and how good of a purchase that has been, I did not hesitate to get the 3 TB version. It is reliable, quick and easy to use. I have seen other similar devices that my friends use and it doesn't look like there is that much of a difference, I just decided to go with WD as I am familiar with them and have loved using their products.

after spending some time using portable hd, I had to move to an external hd with greater capacity. I have chosen to keep the WD, very reliable and have a very good and reliable management software that I have used for years

This does exactly what I need it to do. Something sort of a long term storage without having to store so many things on there that are too important if that make sense. The only reason for four stars is because, while this is on, if you turn your computer on (or in my case my computer can't speak for everyone else) your computer will not boot up. I've tried changing the settings in the bios and see if that would make a difference but it hasn't. I have to have it off first and then turn my computer on and then turn it on to get it to work. It's kind of annoying but besides that little blip for me, I would definitely recommend this to someone looking for a HDD.

Needed an extra drive for more storage and picked this one up at a good sale price. Still running smoothly. No complaints here.

This is eight "My Book" products and have very pleased with them all. $99 for a 3 terabyte drive, fantastic

With game downloads being bigger and bigger, 1 TB of storage is not going to cut it. After looking at competitive brands and products, hands down Western Digital My Book series is the one I'd choose again and again. Seagate has been known to have hard drive failures, plus most other options were just more expensive. I was able to get this one on sale and paid about the same price as the My Passport series. Thanks Best Buy!

I purchased this external Hard Drive on the recommendation of a Geek Squad Agent. It is setup to back up every Sunday night and I have not had any problems with it. I bought it to back up everything on my lap top and feel secure this is being accomplished. I receive a notification after the weekly back up is complete. I'm also able to run a back up at anytime I save /download something of importance during the week.

Had lots of mp3, ripped flac files, and now hi-res files to keep in one place. Plenty of room. NICE and inexpensive. My favorite brand also. Only good experiences with WD. PLUG AND PLAY EASY.

I bought this external hard drive to back up my pictures and documents. It connects easily and is large enough for me to do a complete backup. I like the fact that it has its own power source (rather than getting power through USB) - that is one feature I look for in an external hard drive.

This is a well priced 3TB back up drive. The USB 3 interface is way faster than the previous USB 2. On the wish list is that Western Digital would report the drive's RPM which is related to writing speed. I would have preferred a drive with 7200 RPM. The other negative comment is that the drive is formatted so that it is compatable with both MAC and Windows systems. This might seem like a good thing but in the Windows world, it means you can't use Window's imaging software to image your drive without reformatting it. This would take a lot of hours! To create a backup image in Win10, you have to download a copy of Acronis True Image from Western Digital's website (which is free). This is good software and easy to use, but it is different. This is not made clear on the box though. The other noticeable thing from previous WD backup drives is the lack of an access indicator light. You don't know when the drive is being written too or when it is in sleep mode. Not a big deal but I would have preferred and indicator LED.

I bough an external drive for use as my backup storage for family photos, to ensure they are in a central storage location that is both reliable and secure. Staff at the local Best Buy were helpful and I am happy with the selection of drive, which so far has worked well.

The hard drive was easy to install, and it works exactly as promised. I used it for an Xbone, and all of my games have saved onto it and play from it flawlessly.

I picked this model for the price, but was happy with it when I got home. Easy to install, no problems, and compatible with all my equipment.

I'm really happy with my purchase! I took it out of the box, connected it to my desktop PC, and set up the automatic backup! It was very easy as it comes with the software already installed on the WD HD! I've had it for about 1 month and everything works perfectly! It runs silently and stays cool, and honestly, I'm oblivious to it and it's about 12 inches from my arm! It does what it was meant to do and that is regularly backup my hard drive!

Plenty of storage space, great speed, and fits nicely on my desk. Works well with both my Mac and pc systems.

I bought this for a Plex server but it did not work as I expected. Now we are using it for my sons PS4 and it is groovy and works just fine. Tons of space and responsive an a reasonable price.
