Don’t buy this device for a newer (2021+) MacBook

Tried to set this up to use for Time Machine backups and the drive will work for several hours and then hangs (the light stays on but the drive will not spin). I have to force eject and unplug from my MacBook’s Thunderbird/ USB-C port and plug in again. I’ve tried all three ports on the MacBook with the same results. From what I’ve found on Google, it appears to be a power voltage issue with the combo ports on the MacBook Pro and the Passport drive not being able to handle the voyage. I now use a NVME SSD M2 card mounted in an eternal USB-C enclosure and all works great. The Passport has been reformatted to a NTSF external drive for my Windows PC and works fine. Don’t buy this device for connection to a newer (2021+) MacBook!! It wont work!!!

Great for New USB-C to USB-C but backwards Compat.

Also it includes a USB-C to USB regular adapter but you can easily remove the regular USB end and use the USB-C to plug directly into your Mac.
