Cannot Access After Backup

Third one did a complete backup but will not let me access to do another backup or access the files so have to destroy instead of returning, so out $100. One I bought a couple years ago still works, so maybe quality bad this year.

Yeah it works but you’ll need to do your homework on how to get this to work the way you need/expect it to. Comes with no instructions so YouTube will be your best friend until you figure this thing out. I finally got mine to work after watching numerous videos online. I purchased this External hard drive to store not only photos/videos and documents but also to move some apps over as well, it works but like I said do your homework.

I thought the occasional failure is inevitable so purchased this one. Nine months later this one has failed. I talked with WD directly who is willing to replace it with a refurbished one and - are you ready - they want the old disk back first. Yes, with all my private info intact and the "promise" to erase the disk and keep my data safe! YIKES. DO NOT BUY WD PRODUCTS IF YOU WANT SAFETY AND SECURITY. Two failures in less than one year and a terrible warranty policy. I'll be buying a different brand going forward.

Bad drive

That is "a" truth but not "the whole truth." Once the Mac goes into "Sleep" mode the WD drive disconnects itself and to get it to sync back up I have to restart the Mac. WD no help. Online forums describe an alternative "fix" which is disable "Sleep" in power settings and leave the computer on 24X7. That works but is not what I want, not ideal. I'm a month past the warranty return and can't afford to buy another one (different brand).

Tried downloading the drivers. Plugged it into my older Apple Laptop and would not work with it as well. Do not thing this device is compatible with all Apple laptops.

I bought it to back up my computer and 2 days later, it crashed and I lost everything! I took it back to Geek Squad to see if they could recover anything and they said they couldn’t. Wont buy WD again!
