Third one did a complete backup but will not let me access to do another backup or access the files so have to destroy instead of returning, so out $100. One I bought a couple years ago still works, so maybe quality bad this year.

Design flaw

That is "a" truth but not "the whole truth." Once the Mac goes into "Sleep" mode the WD drive disconnects itself and to get it to sync back up I have to restart the Mac. WD no help. Online forums describe an alternative "fix" which is disable "Sleep" in power settings and leave the computer on 24X7. That works but is not what I want, not ideal. I'm a month past the warranty return and can't afford to buy another one (different brand).

Tried downloading the drivers. Plugged it into my older Apple Laptop and would not work with it as well. Do not thing this device is compatible with all Apple laptops.

I bought it to back up my computer and 2 days later, it crashed and I lost everything! I took it back to Geek Squad to see if they could recover anything and they said they couldn’t. I stopped by Thursday the 15th to visit geek squad where the guy was not happy at all that I stopped by. I did not have an appointment even though I pay for that service. He found the on screen icon and opened the program, showed me how it worked. I got home, followed what he told me to do. Nothing. Now what.
